The gym is rooted in a philosophy of providing a professional, friendly, and supportive atmosphere for its members. The staff and management are committed to creating a positive experience, ensuring that members feel welcome and motivated throughout their fitness journey. While one member's review noted issues with crowding after an open house, the gym's fundamental mission is to provide an accessible space with a wealth of equipment for both structured and individual workouts. It's a place where residents can work on their health in a dedicated and communal environment, benefiting from the resources and oversight of the Wheaton Park District.
The facility has undergone significant renovations to enhance the member experience, introducing new equipment, a turf area, and a dedicated recovery room. The wide variety of equipment, from cardio machines with touch screens to dumbbells and a turf area for functional training, means that members have everything they need for a well-rounded workout. The gym is designed to cater to a diverse range of fitness levels and interests. While the renovation brought positive changes for many, one member's review points out that a strong chemical smell from the new flooring and equipment was an issue for them, and that there were also some logistical challenges related to the women's locker room and sauna access. However, these are often temporary challenges with renovations, and the gym’s commitment to providing a top-tier facility remains clear. Parks Plus Fitness strives to be a versatile and effective fitness center for the entire community.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My husband and I joined a year ago. It was nice and quiet until they had an open house. Then the facility became crowded and treadmills were all being used. People not wiping down machines after using them is a real problem or on their phones while relaxing on machines. Management needs to step in.
May 27 · Cathy S.Before the renovation, I was able to work out regularly at this facility, even though the seated elliptical that is best for me was deemed unnecessary by the purchase personnel. I made do with what they had and kept up my fitness. After the renovation, the synthetic chemicals of the new flooring and equipment had too deleterious an effect on me, and I had to turn elsewhere. Also, the sauna was hard to use in the evenings because my chosen evenings of Monday and Thursday, the women's locker room was closed for deep cleaning. Even if I came at another time, I had to go downstairs to take a key from the gym check-in counter upstairs to the locker room and then return it downstairs after using the sauna and shower, and the time was limited. Not too hospitable, especially for a senior like me with fibromyalgia.
May 13 · Lori JoslynGym facility locker rooms gym Equipment staff we’re all awesome. I tell all my friends about it. Steam room is great love that they infuse it with oils sauna is fantastic. Also, just wish the thermostat wasn’t right above the heater so I can get a true reading of how hot it is I wish it was hotter.
February 14 · Hector AlvarezI suppose I'm going against the grain and saying I think it's less accommodating since the remodel. Sure it is fancy or whatever but the new equipment doesn't accommodate a petite woman unless I learn free weights I guess. I generally don't use free weights because I was trained to use machines and I personally feel a bit safer with their assistance. The other thing is the locker rooms. There is a lot less room in them and.. parents with kids.. are now only 18 and up. I was considering getting a PPFC membership for my son who will be 14 in a year but how does it make sense for him to join a place that won't give him access to the changing rooms and showers? For a place that is supposed to be a community center it seems like it's been made for men and old people. I think I'll be joining a private gym next time unfortunately.
September 24 · Sarah LGreat place to get a workout. Friendly staff, clean facilities and quality equipment. I personally am an avid fan of weight lifting so I enjoy that there are multiple squat racks and plenty of free weights. I also enjoy the variety of cardiovascular exercise machines including ellipticals, treadmills, bikes, and rowers.
