The Outdoor Calisthenics Gym is located within a public park in Lyndhurst, New Jersey, with the official address being Lyndhurst, NJ 07071, USA. Being in a public park, the gym is easily accessible to anyone in the community. It is a fantastic option for those who prefer to exercise outdoors or who live nearby and can walk or bike to the park. While it is a part of a larger recreational area, users have noted that it is a dedicated space for exercise, making it separate from the main playground area for kids. The public nature of the gym means that it is always available and does not have specific hours of operation like a commercial gym. This allows for great flexibility, as you can work out whenever it fits into your schedule, whether that's early in the morning or late in the evening. The main challenge with its location is the shared space with other park visitors. As one reviewer mentioned, sometimes other park-goers, particularly parents and their kids, may occupy the equipment. This is a minor frustration but something that is part of the experience of using a public resource. Despite this, the gym remains a highly valued part of the community's recreational offerings. Its location provides a serene and open environment for workouts, which many people find more enjoyable than a confined indoor space. The presence of a separate playground a few hundred yards away at the north end of the park is a helpful feature, though its use by adults can sometimes be a point of conflict.
The accessibility of this gym is one of its most important features. It is completely free to use, which removes one of the biggest barriers to fitness for many people. Its public location ensures that anyone in the community can access it, making it a true resource for all. Unlike a private gym that requires a membership and may have limited hours, this outdoor gym is always open and available. This accessibility makes it a powerful tool for promoting public health and encouraging consistent physical activity. The fact that there are limited free strength training options nearby makes this gym particularly valuable. It is a unique offering in the area and a testament to the forward-thinking county officials who, as one user noted, proposed putting these types of facilities in some of the local parks. While the gym does not have dedicated parking or a formal restroom, it is located within a park, which may have some of these amenities available nearby. Its primary focus is on providing a core set of equipment for exercise, and in that regard, it excels. For anyone in the Lyndhurst area looking for a convenient, no-cost way to get a great workout, the location and accessibility of this outdoor gym are unmatched.

Outdoor Calisthenics Gym Reviews
My spouse and I have been using this for strength training year-round for a few years. Big thank you to whoever it was that proposed putting these in some of the county parks!I’ve only three complaints. First, there could easily be more (e.g., in the county park in North Arlington). Second, the county doesn’t fix things promptly — for example, a wooden plank on one of the fixtures has been broken for about a year (maybe longer). Third, sometimes parents and their kids prevent adults from using this for exercise even though there’s a playground dedicated to kids a few hundred yards away (at the North end of the park) — the little leaguers and their parents are the worst, often just sitting on stuff so no one else can use it for an hour or two. There’s basically nowhere else nearby to do strength training for free, but there’s plenty of playgrounds, baseball fields, and park benches. I just wish the County and its residents realized how many people need this free outdoor gym for CDC-recommended resistance training.
