Orangetheory Fitness Introduce
Welcome to Orangetheory Fitness, a premier fitness center located in the heart of Forest Hills, New York. In a city where time is a valuable commodity, our gym offers a high-impact, sixty-minute workout designed to give you maximum results. Our unique approach is based on the science of Excess Post-Exercise Oxygen Consumption (EPOC), which helps you burn calories and boost your metabolism long after your workout is over. We believe in providing a comprehensive fitness solution that combines science with expert coaching to help you achieve your personal health and wellness goals. While we are part of a larger franchise, we operate as a local community hub, with a dedicated team committed to helping every member succeed. Our classes, led by professional instructors like Coach Tariq, are praised for being "professional" and "enjoyable," and the gym itself is known for being "clean" and having "most machines in good condition."
For many New Yorkers, a gym membership is a significant investment, and they expect a high level of professionalism and transparency. We acknowledge that communication and clear policies are essential to building trust. One customer's experience highlighted a frustrating situation involving an unreceived notification about a requirement for a free class, which led to a disappointing experience. We understand that this created a sense of feeling "uncomfortable" and that their "time and good faith had been disrespected." Another review raised concerns about billing and contract terms, which resulted in "frustration" and a feeling of "deceptive business practices." We take this feedback seriously and are committed to continuous improvement in our communication and customer service to ensure every member feels respected and well-informed. Our goal is for our members to find a gym that is transparent and ethical, and we strive to meet that standard.
The core of the Orangetheory Fitness experience is our unique workout model. Each sixty-minute class is broken into intervals of high-energy cardiovascular training and strength training. Participants use a variety of state-of-the-art equipment, including treadmills, rowing machines, and free weights, to get a full-body workout. The workouts are always changing, which keeps them "interesting" and ensures you're never bored. This variety and the guidance of an expert coach make for a highly engaging and effective session.
Located at 107-14 70th Rd, Forest Hills, NY 11375, Orangetheory Fitness is conveniently situated to serve residents of Queens. What is worth choosing
Choosing a gym can be a difficult decision, and it is important to weigh all factors, including the potential for miscommunication and billing issues that have been noted in some reviews. However, Orangetheory Fitness in Forest Hills is still worth considering for several compelling reasons. The primary value proposition of this gym is the unique and effective workout model. The heart-rate based interval training is a proven method for getting results, and the guidance of a professional coach in a group setting can be highly motivating. The fact that the workouts are constantly varied means you are less likely to hit a plateau, and your fitness journey will remain engaging over the long term.
For those who thrive in a structured, coached environment, this is an excellent choice. The facility is clean and well-maintained, and the equipment is in good condition, providing a high-quality space to train. While a few past members have raised serious concerns about communication and billing, these issues are important for potential members to consider and discuss with the staff before signing up for a membership. Ultimately, the fitness outcomes, driven by a well-designed workout and professional coaching, are the key reasons why many New Yorkers choose Orangetheory Fitness to help them achieve their health goals. It is a gym that provides the tools for a truly transformative fitness experience, as long as you are proactive in understanding all the terms of your membership.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I had a very disappointing experience at this OrangeTheory location.I booked my free first class in advance and followed all the instructions, including arriving 30 minutes early as requested. However, when I arrived, I was told I needed to present an ID with a Queens address in order to qualify for the free class — a requirement that was never communicated to me at any point during the booking process. When I mentioned this, the staff insisted they had sent me a message with that information. After checking, they realized they had sent the message to the wrong phone number — meaning I never received any notice. Despite this being clearly their internal error, I was told I would have to pay $30 if I wanted to take the class. This made me feel extremely uncomfortable — as if I were trying to take advantage of the free trial offer, when in fact I had followed every instruction I was given. Their failure to communicate essential information, combined with the lack of accountability for their own mistake, was deeply frustrating. This experience left me questioning the integrity and professionalism of the studio’s management. I left without taking the class, and with a strong sense that my time and good faith had been disrespected.———————————————————————UPDATE for everyone reading this: About six weeks after my review, they finally replied here asking me to email them – but I had already sent TWO detailed emails to that exact address on the very same day I wrote my review (May 30).【screenshot attached】Guess what? Not a single reply. Not even an acknowledgment. This PR template response isn’t about fixing anything – it’s just to make it look like they “care.” If they truly cared, they would have replied to those emails back in May instead of ignoring them for weeks and posting this copy-paste reply in mid-July – and then still not following up two weeks later.
July 29 · Akaka NimaClean Gym, But Beware of Shady Billing PracticesThe good:The gym is clean, most machines are in good condition, and the staff is helpful if something goes wrong. They are especially attentive before registration. I trained with one instructor, Coach Tariq, who was professional, and I enjoyed the classes. The frustrating part:Be very careful with this place! In November, they advertised a promotion: If you buy the wristband with your registration, your second month is free. I signed up, bought the wristband, and paid for the first month, thinking I was trying the gym for just one month. However, I later found out they had signed me up for a three-month contract without properly informing me.I was charged for November, got December free (since I had purchased the wristband), and then was expected to pay for January—something I never agreed to. Despite repeatedly stating that I did not want any additional months and explaining that I would be out of state, they refused to cancel my membership before January 16th.Since no one was answering my calls, I took an hour off work to cancel in person, ensuring that January 16th would be my last payment. That’s when they hit me with another surprise: their policy apparently required an extra month’s payment after cancellation. The receptionist was completely unhelpful and only promised to inform the manager.I told them that if they charged me again in February, I would leave a review exposing their dishonest practices. I later received two calls from my instructor—at first, he agreed that I shouldn't be charged. However, he later called at a bad time, promised to call back, and never did. Then, on February 16th, I was charged again. So what was supposed to be a one-month trial in November turned into four months of charges. Absolutely unacceptable and deceptive business practices.Save your time, money, and frustration—find a gym that is transparent and ethical about their billing!
March 05 · Mary KI have been coming to this location for about 3 years on and off. I generally have had great experiences. The coaches are great and people are generally welcoming. Recently, I have been pretty disappointed by their the strict lateness policy. Being told I can’t enter a class I paid for because I’m just one minute late is frustrating and disheartening. The response that "the system won’t let me in" feels dismissive and somewhat insulting. Moreover, the front staff often lack empathy, e.g after I ask her if there is anything she can do, she simply looks down to do her work. It seems like this location prioritizes rules over the well-being of its members. Losing a paid class due to this inflexible policy is discouraging. While I understand policies are in place for a reason, there should be room for understanding and flexibility, especially if I have called beforehand letting them know there are extenuating circumstances, e.g a truck blocked the road. We’re adults, not children needing a "hall pass." Given the high cost of membership, a more compassionate approach would go a long way. And I think what really makes all the more frustrating is they take that class away from you even though you showed up.I hope management considers revisiting this policy and training staff to be more understanding.
January 22 · Umama PashaI have been a member for a little over 2 months now and I am so happy I joined! Everyone is so supportive of each other from the front of house staff to the coaches to the members. It has been keeping me motivated and disciplined along my journey. At first it started as a weight loss/ recovery journey, but it has become part of my lifestyle. I'm turning down happy hours to go to class! Please keep up the amazing work, OTF Forest Hills! The community needed you.
