Maxx Fitness Clubzz Allentown Introduce
For those of us living in Pennsylvania, finding a local gym that fits our needs is a key part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This article provides a straightforward and factual overview of Maxx Fitness Clubzz in Allentown, designed to help local residents make an informed decision. Choosing a gym is a personal process, and it's essential to consider all aspects—from services and amenities to membership policies and customer experiences. We'll explore what this specific gym offers, its location, and the features that define its service model, all based on publicly available information and customer feedback.
Maxx Fitness Clubzz positions itself as a gym that offers a variety of services to its members. According to the provided information, they offer group classes like aerobics and one-on-one personal training. However, customer reviews highlight some significant concerns, particularly regarding membership contracts and billing. One customer described a frustrating experience trying to cancel their membership, mentioning that the gym continued to charge their card despite following the contract's explicit cancellation procedure via certified mail. The review also details a difficult in-person experience, where the customer and their husband had to negotiate to stop the charges. This user's feedback suggests a lack of transparency and an unwillingness to honor contract terms, labeling the business as a "complete scam." Another reviewer echoed similar sentiments, warning others not to join and stating that the gym lures people in with a low price, then significantly raises it without proper transparency. While the provided information on services and amenities seems appealing, these reviews suggest potential issues with business practices that are critical for prospective members to be aware of.
It's important to approach these reviews with an open mind, as they represent individual experiences. However, when multiple reviews point to the same issues, it suggests a pattern. The reviews highlight the importance of thoroughly understanding the membership contract before signing and being prepared for potential administrative difficulties. While the gym may have positive aspects not mentioned in these specific reviews, the information available indicates that prospective members should proceed with caution and clarify all terms, especially regarding pricing and cancellation policies.
Maxx Fitness Clubzz Allentown is located at 1654 S 4th St, Allentown, PA 18103, USA. This location makes it a convenient option for residents in the southern part of Allentown and surrounding areas. The gym has made efforts to ensure accessibility for all community members, which is a key consideration for many people. According to the provided information, the facility features a wheelchair-accessible entrance, a wheelchair-accessible parking lot, and a wheelchair-accessible restroom. These are important amenities that show a commitment to inclusivity, allowing a wide range of individuals to access and use the facility comfortably. The presence of these features is a positive aspect that contributes to the gym's ability to serve a broader community.
Based on the available information, Maxx Fitness Clubzz offers a selection of services designed to help members achieve their fitness goals. While the reviews raise concerns about the business side of things, the services themselves are what a person would typically expect from a fitness club. The main services highlighted are:
- Aerobics: This refers to group classes that focus on cardiovascular fitness, often involving choreographed movements to music.
- Personal Training: The gym offers one-on-one sessions with a trainer to provide customized workout plans and guidance.
These services are fundamental to a gym experience, offering a mix of self-guided exercise and expert-led instruction. For individuals who enjoy a group class environment or need personalized support to get started, these offerings would likely be a primary reason to consider this gym.
In addition to its services, the gym has several features that define the member experience. It’s important to note that a membership is required to use the facility. This is a common practice for fitness clubs to ensure a dedicated member base. The gym also offers a range of modern payment options for convenience. The amenities listed are standard for a gym and are aimed at making the workout process more comfortable for members.
Here are some of the key features and highlights of Maxx Fitness Clubzz Allentown:

When considering whether Maxx Fitness Clubzz is worth choosing, a local resident of Pennsylvania must carefully weigh the information. On one hand, the gym offers a solid set of core services like aerobics and personal training, and it is accessible to people with disabilities. These are positive attributes that, on the surface, make it a viable option for fitness. The convenient payment methods are also a plus in today’s digital world.
However, the negative customer reviews raise significant red flags. The reports of billing issues, difficulty with cancellations, and alleged lack of transparency regarding pricing are serious concerns that prospective members should not ignore. The detailed account of a customer who was charged multiple times after attempting to cancel via certified mail, and then being forced to negotiate in person, suggests that the process of ending a membership may be much more difficult than the contract implies. The second review about a sudden price increase further compounds these concerns about transparency and ethical business practices.
Ultimately, a potential member's decision will depend on how much they are willing to risk these reported administrative issues. While the gym may offer good workout facilities and classes, the reviews suggest that the business and customer service side of the operation may be a source of significant frustration. For a Pennsylvania resident looking for a gym, the best course of action would be to thoroughly research the membership contract, ask very specific questions about cancellation policies and pricing tiers, and perhaps speak to current or former members to get a fuller picture. While the fitness services might be appealing, the negative experiences of others suggest that the business practices are what truly define the experience at this location. It is crucial to be fully aware of these factors before signing any contract.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Do not sign the contract and expect them to honor it. I moved across the LV and wanted to cancel my membership. I sent a written notice of cancellation via certified USPS mail, which is explicitly permitted in the contract. They continued to charge my card. I visited the gym TWICE in person after that to cancel, and they continued to charge my card. I filed monthly charge disputes with my credit card company, and Maxx continued to charge my card and did not respond to any of the credit card company's attempts to contact. I eventually filed for fraud investigation through the credit card company and changed credit cards. Maxx continued to attempt to charge the cancelled card, with an additional return service fee, and sent a text (no email, call, or written notice) stating that if I did not pay the outstanding balance on my account it would be sent to collections (this is less than one billing cycle following the "missed payment"). I called the gym and was told I have to come in person to cancel. I emailed the gym, no response. I went with my husband to the gym to resolve this once and for all, and they tried to give us the runaround, initially threatening to charge us hundreds of dollars even above what is listed as outstanding on the account, including a "cancellation fee" of $98. They had no consistent explanation for what the charges were. When my husband pressed them, the manager on site tried to defer to the manager above him, who is conveniently only in on Tuesdays. The whole matter was only resolved after my husband negotiated to pay the two months of "outstanding membership dues" with his Amex and threatened to pursue a fraud investigation on his Amex if they continued to charge. In a final note of insulting irony, it states at the top of the cancellation form that it is preferable for memberships to be cancelled via written notice via certified mail....which I now realize is likely included specifically to lure people into situations like this.Unfortunately this business actually appears to be a complete scam, luring people into contract terms that they then choose to change or disregard at their whim, knowing that their customers are generally not people who have the time or money to sue them for fraud and breach of contract.
April 11 · B HIf your thinking about joining then listen to all this comment and don’t they will really screw you big time. How a place like that is going to charge you 10 dollars bring you to a contractWithout telling you anything bring the price up to 50 dollars this gym should be closed permanently they have no transparency. They just want to get you in so then they can bring the price up
March 18 · Jonathan RodriguezSigned up for the 29.99 promo in august and was told minimum was 6 months, rate still went up to $50. Cancelled today after 6 months and was told I have a 1 year membership obligation. Website says $58 to buy out membership but now it’s $88…even though the website still says $58. And I still have to pay for next month.Price increase is advertised as paying for upgrades like saunas. The only things done have been fixing lights and eventually a new floor. None of the other new amenities.Lots of bait and switch. Run down facility with broken equipment. Not worth $29 let alone $50.
January 11 · Christine MillerWorst place ever. They raised their rates by 400% from $10 a month to $50 a month. When we complained and asked to cancel they said we have to pay it again before we can cancel. They said they sent an email in September and we are under contract and have to pay it. They refused to let us talk to the owner. They stated there is no corporate or main office. They said if we did not pay it they would send us to collections and mess with our credit. The attitude and rudeness we received was outrageous. Raising by 400% in this economy for working folks is just wrong. The place is not worth the price.
November 06 · Rose SnowFaucet in me s bathroom has been loose for more than 6 months nobody fixes it. Urinal has not worked in over 1 year and Noone fixes it it smells like hell. The employees lack any professionalism or care for members or there job. Management does not exist. To top it off its fee is going up 49 dollars. Do to upgrades so they say. The communication with members is terrible, this is the problem Management. You suck
