Life Time Introduce
Introduction / Overview
For many in the Atlanta area of Georgia, the search for a superior fitness experience leads directly to Life Time. Located in the North Druid Hills neighborhood, this isn't simply a gym; it’s marketed as an all-encompassing athletic country club and racquet club. Spanning 65,000 square feet indoors, complemented by expansive outdoor spaces, the Life Time location on Sheridan Road NE is a premier destination dedicated to healthy living, healthy aging, and healthy entertainment for individuals and families across the Metro Atlanta area.
This impressive facility was recently opened after a complete transformation of the former Athletic Club Northeast space, designed to cater to the high consumer demand for a luxurious, all-in-one health, wellness, and social experience. The club focuses on providing industry-leading equipment, diverse class offerings, and resort-style amenities that appeal to people of all ages—from infants in the Kids Academy to active older adults in the ARORA programs.
While the club provides an undeniable array of high-end offerings and services, potential members should be aware that this premium experience comes with a premium cost. Previous membership price points for Life Time in the Atlanta region have been reported to start around $179 to over $200 per month, with some members paying in excess of $500 monthly for larger family or higher-tier memberships. Membership is required to access the facilities, ensuring a high-quality, dedicated user experience.
Location and Accessibility
The Life Time North Druid Hills club is conveniently located at 1515 Sheridan Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30324, USA. This address places it just off Briarcliff Road and approximately one mile from I-85, making it easily accessible for residents throughout DeKalb County and the northern Atlanta suburbs.
The facility is open seven days a week, typically from 4:00 a.m. to midnight on weekdays and 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on weekends, providing ample flexibility for busy Georgia schedules. The club is fully committed to universal accessibility, featuring:
- Wheelchair accessible entrance
- Wheelchair accessible parking lot
- Wheelchair accessible restroom
A key point of feedback from local members, however, is the parking situation. Both free parking lot and free street parking are available, but members report that the on-site lot has insufficient capacity for the number of members, especially during peak hours. Members have described the parking as "incredibly limited," with spots being "compact car size only." This often leads to long waits for spaces, vehicles blocking aisles, and concerns about vehicle safety. Some overflow parking is available at a school down the street, but this involves crossing a busy road with limited sidewalk access. Prospective members should certainly factor this high-traffic parking challenge into their plans, especially if attending during busy times.
Services Offered
Life Time North Druid Hills is renowned for its vast and diverse service menu, which aims to cover every aspect of the healthy way of life. Nearly 150 classes are offered weekly, catering to various fitness levels and interests.
Key Services and Programs Include:
- Group Fitness Classes: A massive selection of classes held in five dedicated boutique studios for barre, cycling (Indoor Cycling), group fitness, hot and traditional yoga (Yoga Studio), and Pilates.
- Signature Group Training: Dedicated spaces for Life Time’s exclusive small-group training programs, including Alpha, GTX, and UltraFit.
- Personal Training: Complimentary sessions (like a Goal Setting Session or Intro to Dynamic Personal Training) are offered to members, providing access to certified Personal Trainers and Dynamic Stretch Specialists.
- Racquet Sports Programming: Comprehensive programs for tennis (six outdoor courts) and pickleball (nine courts total, split between indoor and outdoor). Note that outdoor pickleball courts have been reported to use makeshift dividers, and court reservation access is sometimes frustrating for members.
- LT Recovery: A dedicated space for physical recovery featuring hydro and cryomassage chairs, percussion devices, and whole-body compression technology.
- Kids Academy: Specially designed classes and programming for children aged 3 months to 11 years old, offering a safe and engaging environment for youth while parents work out.
- LifeCafe: An on-site Cafe that provides nutritious meals, shakes, and a juice bar, along with proprietary LTH nutritional supplements.
- LifeSpa Services: Full-service massage and spa treatments are available, sometimes even to non-members.
- Life Time Digital: Access to the complimentary app provides a library of on-demand classes, award-winning health content, and online classes.
Features / Highlights
The amenities at Life Time North Druid Hills are designed to replicate a resort-style experience, making it stand out as a luxury fitness center in the Georgia market. Members appreciate the club's modern design, new equipment, and a floor plan that facilitates a smooth flow, even during peak hours, often eliminating the wait for equipment.
Top-Tier Features of the Athletic Country Club:
- Resort-Style Pools: The facility features both a five-lane indoor lap pool and a resort-style outdoor pool with a 'Beach Club' area, pool deck, private cabanas, and a bistro. The outdoor pool, however, has been described by members as being smaller than expected for the size of the club.
- Executive-Style Dressing Rooms: Luxurious locker rooms featuring high-end amenities, including a dry Sauna, steam rooms, whirlpools, and complimentary towels and lockers. This location also features one of Atlanta’s first coed hydrotherapy suites with a cold plunge pool.
- Extensive Racquet Facilities: A total of six outdoor Tennis Courts and nine dedicated Pickleball Courts (indoor and outdoor), often complemented by a courtside lounge and bar for post-match socializing.
- Spacious Fitness Floor: The gym provides an expansive area stocked with new, industry-leading cardio and Weightlifting Area equipment, free weights, and resistance-training machines.
- Workspaces and Wi-Fi: Includes a Life Time Work Club Lounge and general Wi-Fi access for members who need to take calls, attend meetings, or work remotely before or after their workout.

What is Worth Choosing
Life Time North Druid Hills is an excellent choice for Georgia residents seeking an all-inclusive, premium athletic and social experience. Its value lies in the sheer volume and quality of amenities under one roof, effectively combining a luxury gym, a recovery spa, a health-conscious restaurant, a community workspace, and a racquet/aquatics club.
The club excels in its expert staff, who are consistently reviewed as friendly and attentive, and its vast class selection, which is well-run and varied. If your primary goal is general fitness, strength training, or diverse boutique-style group classes, you'll benefit from the new equipment and efficient gym flow, even during busy hours. The convenience of a dedicated Kids Academy, LifeCafe, and the integrated recovery space provides significant added value for families and individuals prioritizing comprehensive wellness and convenience.
However, given the reported premium membership fees, local users should weigh their priorities carefully. If racquet sports, especially pickleball, are your main focus, you may find the program management and court availability challenging. Crucially, if you typically visit during peak hours or place a high value on easy, stress-free access, the severely limited and challenging parking could significantly detract from your overall premium membership experience. For those whose budget and schedule allow them to navigate these constraints, Life Time North Druid Hills offers one of Atlanta’s most luxurious and amenity-rich health and fitness environments.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I honestly wish that I could give negative stars on this review. We have only been members here for a few months but we will be cancelling our membership. Although the club is nice inside, there were some definite corners cut in the overall development of this old club into a new Lifetime Club. Let me start with the worst issue they have, Parking! We pay over $500 monthly to be members and the parking here is ATROCIOUS. If you have a luxury car, or any car that you care to keep in good condition, you would be best to find another fitness club. Key Issues are: 1.) There is not enough parking for the number of members. Because of this, people are parking in fire lanes blocking off rows so that cars cannot drive fully around so they have to try and turn around in a crammed aisle and go back out of the same way they entered. This is very dangerous and not just for the people but for the cars. I cannot even fathom the number of cars getting damaged in that parking lot on a daily basis. 2.) The parking spots are compact car size only. This causes lots of people to double park so they do not get their cars dinged by people cramming into parking spaces next to them. 3.) The only overflow parking is at a school down the street which has no sidewalk on that side of the street so you have to cross a busy street to get to the sidewalk and then back across the busy street to go into the club parking lot. When I called the club to express the dangers going on in the parking lot and the cars blocking a fire lane, they said they were not able to do anything about it but would take the plate numbers of the offending cars IF I gave them the numbers. It will clearly take a situation where someone is seriously injured before they take action. Besides the horrible parking, they went cheap on the outdoor pool and left the existing small round pool which is not much bigger than a large hot tub in place instead of replacing it with a larger pool. Therefore, there is way more seating around the pool than there are spots in the pool for those who want to swim. For $500 per month? Not Good. I encourage you to save your money and support a club that gives you the value and safety for what you are paying for.
April 25 · A SmithI've been a Lifetime member for years and this location has some definite pros and cons.Pros:-Staff (front desk / trainers / instructors) are all very friendly and attentive.-New equipment and floor plan makes sense for overall flow of gym and busy hours.-You never really have to wait for a piece of equipment even when the parking lot is completely full.-Class selection is vast and all the ones I've taken (Yoga and GTX) are well ran.-Bands and other equipment that seems to disappear at other locations has stayed steady.Cons:-Parking is incredibly limited. If you go at a busy hour, plan to circle for 10-20 minutes with about 15 other cars. Spots are limited but also SMALL as you can see from other reviews.-Pickleball: The is a very poorly ran program. The outdoor courts have makeshift dividers that hit you while you play. The courts (indoor and outdoor) are booked a week out with no one on them and the management seems to continue to make empty promises even with people consistently complaining. They also have a few events where they will charge you $20 for open play. Sorry but if I'm paying $480 a month for 2 people, I should not have to pay $20 to play pickleball for an hour on courts with dead spots and janky dividers. All in all, this gym is convenient for me but if your primary goal is pickleball, I would heavily avoid this location especially for the "premium" experience they try to sell for your membership.
April 21 · Nick Ti'm a single mom, work from home, moved to atlanta 1.5 years ago, and was pretty isolated. joining lifetime north druid hills has honestly changed everything for me.the vibe here is just different. instructors treat each other like family and it flows over to members too. whether i'm in the locker room, sauna, or cold plunge there's always someone cheering me on or telling me to step out of mediocrity. love that energy.shoutout to the instructors who work with my crazy schedule and help me become stronger - Alison V, Lia P, Sami C, Malvika S, Sarah Beth N, Kristin W. these women push me every class and i'm here for it.being able to bring my daughter while i work out is huge. she does martial arts 2x a week (we love you Ms Wednesday!) while i get stronger in classes. perfect setup for both of us.i used to only practice at yoga studios but now i get weight training, endurance training AND the yoga i emotionally and spiritually need all in one place. exactly what my body and mind needed.working from home as a solopreneur in a new city - i needed community and didn't even realize it. getting trained and hired here while being a member gave me the family i was missing. forever grateful for this place.this is more than a gym if you let it be.
July 17 · Erica Jago*updated in response to Lifetime’s reply to my first review:The core issue is **amplified outdoor sound**. Normal pool/court activity is expected; what’s not reasonable is microphones and speakers for classes and parties carrying into our homes.Whether weekday or weekend, **8:00 AM is too early** for amplified instruction. Yesterday I woke up to an instructor on a mic coaching breathing at 8 AM through my window—while this may not be as obnoxious as the “get pumped” vibes of other outdoor classes, it is still entirely disruptive to the people in the neighborhood. And while you may not run *classes* at 11:30 PM, you do host late outdoor watch parties (e.g., Love Island). Meeting the minimum daytime ordinance isn’t the same as being a respectful neighbor.Claims that staff “turn it down when asked” don’t match our experience. When I and other neighbors have called, volume hasn’t been reduced; we’ve been told nothing can be done or to call the police—an unnecessary use of public resources. Neighbors have lost tenants and struggled to rent due to the noise.Thank you for bringing up the period of time when you first opened when the music played 24/7. That is another thing we’ve endured. While that was resolved—it took so much to get that done. We also had to go through months of your staff learning how to use the PA—making outdoor loudspeaker announcements at 11:30, 11:45, and midnight that the club was closing was not pleasant. We are no longer even complaining about the all-day and evening music; we are specifically trying to connect with someone empowered to address the **additional outdoor noise from classes and events**.I am glad to hear that you have an interest in starting to be good neighbors. **I’m asking for a meeting with someone empowered to fix this.** I’m available one-on-one, with adjacent neighbors, or with the **LaVista Park Neighborhood Association**.It is no longer reasonable to continue to shift the responsibility to the neighbors to notify the club of each instance. Consider this my notice that **every outdoor class or event using amplification is too loud** for this residential area. Please call me or email me, or reply here with the contact of who can host this meeting.—————————————————————————Previous Review:As a member since before it opened- and a person who lives behind the club’s outdoor pool…I have to say this club has serious problems. This club holds outdoor classes at the pool starting as early as 8 am on the weekend & as late as 11:30pm on a week night. By holding these outdoor events they are being completely disrespectful neighbors. We in the surrounding area have to already endure endless noise from the outdoor pickle ball games, tennis games, social events, and the normal noises at the pool. It is the extremely loud speakers and microphones they additionally use during outdoor classes that makes this intolerable. They have DJs set up during parties and no one is there to set any limits.Their staff members all shift blame and not one of them are empowered or willing to do anything to be reasonable neighbors to the people that have lived here before they decided to move in.This is a neighborhood. Many staff members have said to me that there was a gym here before they came (and therefore they should not be concerned about their noise levels- because I bought my house knowing there’s a gym). Well, there was a gym- they never made any amount of noise. My neighbors are real people, with children (they play inappropriate music for little girls to be listening to), with babies that have sleep schedules, doctors that work long hours, paramedics that work night shift, and people who want to sleep in if they so please. As members, people should not be encouraged to engage in such disregard for the community- and Lifetime should care about the community they chose to join- not only the other way around.
September 10 · CharityThe Tennis and Pickleball programs are run by complete amateurs.Tennis- Look what they did to the tennis courts... fenced dividers leaving only 6 feet of space. These go against USTA and ITF court guidelines and pose a safety threat to players. Out of my 20+ years playing tennis including at the collegiate level, I’ve never seen fenced courts like these. Management has been completely useless and unresponsive. All they care about is selling overpriced drills. The courts are also missing basic things you’d expect from a “country club” that charges $330 a month. Things like trash cans, towels, water coolers. The tennis department head is resigning soon so nothing is getting done and there is no succession plan from what I’ve heard. Members have had to contact executive leadership at lifetime because local management is completely useless.Pickleball - there are dozens of dead spots on the outdoor courts. Members have complained but nothing has been done. The open plays are not run well. The 4.0+ open play is a waste of time, they let anyone play and it’s mainly 3.0s… not fun at all.Parking - it can be a freaking nightmare. Good luck finding a spot Monday-Thursday between 5-7pm. People are illegally parked in handicap spots, on curbs, blocking fire exits, etc… what a mess. If I'm paying $330/month I should be able to find a parking spot without circling the lot for 15 minutes. The spots are also way too narrow, if you drive a full size or truck you will be on the lines. They claim to be on a "waitlist" but I think that's bs. I see people getting tours and singing up every time I'm there.Other random things: the outdoor pool is laughable. It looks like a kiddie pool. They had the space to build something appealing but they cheaped out and left the same pool the previous club had. The steam room is not very good. It’s small and barely enough steam in there. Theres only one person working the front desk usually. This causes a line of people trying to get in.If this was a planet fitness I wouldn’t care but this place charges $330 a MONTH. It’s one of the most expensive gyms in the country. You would expect much more. This club had so much potential but it's run by clueless people. Just very poor planning by Lifetime.
