International Boxing & Fitness Introduce
Are you a New Yorker looking for a unique and challenging way to get in shape? Or perhaps you're interested in learning the art of boxing for self-defense, discipline, or as a competitive sport? Look no further than International Boxing & Fitness, a prominent boxing gym located in the vibrant Ridgewood neighborhood of Queens. Unlike many large, impersonal fitness chains, this establishment offers a focused and authentic training environment. It’s a place where the air is filled with the sound of jump ropes and the rhythmic thud of gloves hitting heavy bags, creating an atmosphere of pure dedication and hard work. The gym's primary focus is on the sport of boxing, providing a specialized space for serious training. As one local visitor noted, it’s a "nice size boxing gym" that is well-regarded for its training, particularly for younger aspiring athletes. This dedication to the sport sets it apart from generic gyms, offering a high-quality experience for anyone who is serious about learning the fundamentals or advancing their skills. It's a no-frills, no-distractions type of place where the emphasis is solely on the training and the development of the individual. This targeted approach is a major draw for people who want to avoid the crowds and find a gym with a clear and defined purpose. For those in New York City seeking an alternative to the typical gym routine, International Boxing & Fitness provides an invigorating and purposeful path to physical and mental strength.
International Boxing & Fitness is conveniently located at 9-53 Cypress Ave, Ridgewood, NY 11385. Its location in this well-known Queens neighborhood makes it easily accessible for residents of Ridgewood, as well as those in surrounding areas like Bushwick, Glendale, and Maspeth. While New York City is known for its extensive subway system, this location is also well-serviced by local bus routes, providing multiple options for getting to and from the gym. For those who prefer to drive, the gym's location on Cypress Avenue offers a straightforward commute. The neighborhood itself is a blend of residential and commercial properties, contributing to a community-centric atmosphere. This local presence means the gym is a true part of the fabric of Ridgewood, not just another business in a strip mall. The ability to walk or take a short bus ride to the gym is a significant advantage for New Yorkers, making it easier to be consistent with a training schedule. The gym serves as a local hub for fitness enthusiasts and aspiring boxers, creating a familiar and welcoming environment for everyone who walks through its doors. Its accessibility is a key factor in its appeal, allowing clients to seamlessly integrate their training into their daily lives without a long or complicated commute. This ease of access is a crucial consideration for anyone in a city where time is of the essence.
- Boxing Training: The gym offers dedicated boxing training programs. While specific details on class types (group vs. private) are not always public, the core service is training in the sport of boxing, suitable for a range of skill levels.
- Fitness Equipment: There is a selection of equipment available for boxing-specific training, including heavy bags and other tools necessary for a comprehensive workout.
- Personal Training: The gym’s focus on serious training suggests a strong emphasis on personal coaching, though this may require direct inquiry. The nature of boxing often involves one-on-one instruction to perfect technique.
- Youth Programs: Based on a customer review, the gym is a "good place to take up training but really for the kids." This indicates a strong focus on youth development, which is a valuable service for families in the area.
- Event Space Rental: A unique offering of the gym is that they have an "extra space they rent out for party or special events." This highlights a versatility beyond just a training facility and serves the local community in a different capacity.
- Two Boxing Rings: A major highlight of the facility is the presence of two boxing rings—a full-size ring and a smaller-sized ring. This provides an authentic training environment and allows for multiple sparring or training sessions to occur simultaneously.
- Dedicated Boxing Focus: Unlike multi-sport gyms, International Boxing & Fitness is a true boxing gym. This specialization ensures that the equipment, coaching, and atmosphere are all geared towards the sport, offering a more authentic experience.
- Equipment for Boxing Training: The gym is equipped with various tools specifically for boxing training, which are essential for developing proper form, technique, and stamina.
- Community-Oriented Atmosphere: The gym is noted for its community feel and a focus on training, particularly for children. This suggests a supportive environment that is less about commercialism and more about skill development.
- Event Space: The availability of the extra space for rent for parties or special events is a notable feature, indicating the gym's commitment to being a versatile and community-friendly venue.
For more information on class schedules, training programs, or to inquire about memberships, you can contact International Boxing & Fitness directly. While a past review mentions difficulty with phone communication, it is still the primary method of contact provided. You can reach them by phone at (347) 933-4488 or their mobile number +1 347-933-4488. The gym's address is 9-53 Cypress Ave, Ridgewood, NY 11385, USA. It is recommended to call ahead to confirm hours of operation or to set up an in-person visit. The nature of a specialized training facility often means that the staff is actively engaged in coaching, which can affect phone availability. For anyone serious about joining, a visit to the gym itself can often provide the best insight into the atmosphere, meet with trainers, and get a feel for the training style. The physical location is your best resource for getting a full understanding of what the gym has to offer, and the contact numbers are the first step in making that connection.
Choosing International Boxing & Fitness is a decision to embrace a disciplined and specialized approach to fitness. While some may prefer the convenience of a large, all-purpose gym, this studio provides a focused environment that is difficult to replicate. The presence of a full-size boxing ring and a smaller ring, as well as specialized equipment, signifies that this is a place for serious training. For parents, the emphasis on youth training is a major benefit, as it offers a constructive outlet for children and a way to instill discipline and confidence. This is not just a place to burn calories; it's a place to learn a skill and a mindset. The honest, no-frills atmosphere means there are no distractions from the core mission: to train. While one review points out a potential issue with communication, it also highlights the gym’s singular focus on training over administrative tasks. This can be seen as a positive for those who value authentic coaching over a slick commercial operation. The gym’s ability to cater to both competitive athletes and newcomers, with a special nod to its appeal for kids, makes it a valuable resource in the community. If you are a New Yorker in Queens looking for a place that will challenge you, teach you, and provide a sense of purpose beyond just exercise, International Boxing & Fitness is a compelling choice. It offers a training experience rooted in authenticity and a clear mission to help individuals develop their skills and strength. This focused approach is what makes it a standout option for anyone serious about their fitness and boxing journey.

International Boxing & Fitness Reviews
Nice size boxing gym. I hear it's good place to take up training but really for the kids. I am not a personal member of this gym. They have a full size ring and a smaller size ring. They have a few equipment for boxing training as well. They sell some shirts/items promoting their boxing gym. I'll try to update as I learn more. They also have an extra space they rent out for party or special events.
