★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Our daughter was enrolled at Georgia All Stars for over four years. Unfortunately, our overall experience was disappointing. One of the biggest issues we encountered was the constant turnover of coaches. It felt like there was little consistency or long-term development, which made it difficult for the athletes to build trust and progress effectively.Over the course of several years, we saw very little growth in our daughter's skills. Despite her dedication and consistent attendance, she was still performing many of the same skills in her final year that she was doing when she started. There seemed to be a lack of structured progression and accountability for individual athlete development. While the gym may work for some families, our experience left us feeling that the coaching and training environment lacked the stability and challenge needed to help our daughter reach her potential.
August 13 · Aaron KinderWe have been a member for a few years and my daughter always looks forward to seeing her coach. We have done birthday parties as well and everyone had a good tjme.
May 09 · Paige ReidOur experience with this gym was terrible. We enrolled in February 2024 and my daughter was originally in rec classes. She advanced to a team called “Gym Stars” and we were beyond excited. The coaches at the time (Coach Morgan & Mariah) were phenomenal and pushed my young athlete to challenge herself and perfect her form and gain more confidence to accomplish goals she set for herself.Soon after joining Gym Stars, shortly before competition season, my daughters coaches were no longer there and things started going way down hill. The coaches that rose to take their place, though sweet and tried, were young and lacked in experience coaching and interacting with parents. The shift in coaches began to show in my daughter’s performance, and effected her drive for gymnastics. She began to lose interest, and skills were at a stand still and she even regressed in some areas. My daughter loves to push herself to the limit and try until she masters a skill. though some times she needs that added push from her coaches to boost her confidence. I don’t doubt that the coaches were decent, however I do believe some guidance from an older coach would benefit not only them but the athletes. The over all cleanliness of the gym repulsed me. It seems like the only time they prioritized cleaning is when they were hosting a competition. The bathrooms were simply unacceptable, the lobby and seating area was just gross.I finally had enough and withdrew my child from the gym. I do hope they get staff who actually care about not only the athletes but the gym as well and pull this gym together as it does has potential.
May 25 · Mimi DavisThis gym is a disaster. The owners are unorganized and rude. Our daughter was in recreational classes and then competitive team with this gym for several years. Originally they were with amazing coaches who shielded us from the true colors of the owners until they couldn’t any more. When the good coaches left, last December, the owners couldn’t hide any longer and have made one mistake after another. The new coaches are inexperienced and unsupportive which led to our girls making little to no progress in the last 6 months. The coaches even bailed on us at State Competition the day of the event. The owners then emailed parents of team members claiming that the girls didn’t qualify for competitive teams next year when what was happening was they were doing away with AAU. Communication is extremely lacking, coaches are not hands on and engaging with the gymnasts. There is no team environment or camaraderie. They only want your money.
May 07 · Jade PWe had a terrible overall experience at this gym. Our daughters first did rec classes here starting in late 2023. They enjoyed those, although even then we noticed a very high coaching turnover. In early 2024 one of the coaches told us that our oldest daughter was skilled at gymnastics and asked if we would be interested in trying out for "team." We said yes. This is when things went downhill in a hurry.Communication was terrible from the beginning. We had no prior experience in gymnastics and how the team structure works was never explained to us at all. It wasn't until our daughter was already on the team that we even understood that she was on the "Gym Stars" team and that this team differed from the other teams in terms of commitment and expectations. We started the summer session which went ok. Then we switched to fall session and the practice times changed drastically and included late evening practice times and a Saturday practice. At no point was it mentioned that practice times would even change in the fall, nevermind that they would be at such inconvenient times. As time went on, practices were frequently cancelled on short notice with explanations including "We realized all our coaches will be at other team meets that day." Since the cancellations were often on such short notice and communicated by email frequently parents went to drop their kids off at practice only to find that there was no practice. No compensation was ever offered for the multiple missed practices. Sometimes there were makeup practices, other times there weren't. We were also billed more for competition fees than originally quoted. When I sent an email asking for an explanation it was ignored. In December several coaches quit, including our daughters coach. There was apparently a meeting to discuss this, but we missed it because we didn't see an email that was sent out a few hours earlier. My wife was literally IN THE GYM when the meeting was taking place, but no one thought to walk into the lobby and announce a meeting was happening to discuss the recent coaching departures. Again abysmal communication. The remaining coaches were 18-19 year old kids who did fine jobs considering that this is just a part-time job for them while they're working through college. Unfortunately, way too much is put on the coaches in terms of logistics and communication. The owners either need to be more involved or hire someone who specializes in communicating with parents regarding everything going on at the gym. The staff they have work at the front desk rarely has a clue what's going on and I had to correct them multiple times on when practices were, etc.So as the competition season concluded we are supposed to be receiving an update on where our daughter will be placed for the next season. We are still waiting. At this point we are assuming that our daughter will not be offered a spot on a team at Georgia All-Star, but once again, poor communication.I could go on and on about further communication failures, but you get the idea. I gave the gym 2 stars to acknowledge that my daughter did receive coaching for 1 season which seemed adequate although we do feel her progress stalled after the more experienced coaches quit in December and the newer coaches had much more thrown at them than they were expecting.Overall, I have never had such a horrible experience where I feel like my money was more wasted at a small business. I expect to be considered disposable when dealing with huge conglomerates, but I have never had that feeling at a small organization like this and I am shocked at how poorly run it is.
