What is Worth Choosing FITNESS SF - Transbay
For local users in California, FITNESS SF - Transbay represents the gold standard for full-service, high-quality urban gyms without the rigid, expensive contracts typical of boutique studios. What is truly worth choosing here is the combination of immense scale and premium detail. This gym solves the biggest problem of city fitness centers: feeling overcrowded and dated.
The gym's designation as the newest and most modern location means members benefit from fresh, well-maintained equipment and a thoughtfully designed space that ensures comfort and efficiency. The dedicated Athletic Training Center, with its 15 Olympic lifting platforms and separate turf room with multiple squat racks, caters to the serious strength enthusiast—a rare find in a centralized city gym. The availability of free, high-quality classes, including a variety of indoor and outdoor options (like those at Salesforce Park), adds tremendous value to the membership.
However, the most compelling reason to choose Transbay is the "premium" experience woven into the daily routine. The locker rooms, with their "fancy heated toilet seats with bidets" and elegant finishes, elevate the pre- and post-workout experience far above competitors. The Recovery Studio, complete with cold-heat massage chairs, turns post-workout soreness into a luxurious experience. Finally, the flexible month-to-month membership, known for having "no enrollment fees, no processing fees, no annual fees, and no cancellation fees," offers the necessary freedom and transparency that busy Californians demand, making FITNESS SF - Transbay an unbeatable value for a world-class gym.

July 08 · Ivan MartinezFitness SF is hands down the best gym chain in San Francisco. It’s a fantastic value for the price point, especially with their flexible month-to-month membership option that you can cancel anytime. They have locations throughout the city but their Transbay gym is the newest and most modern of them all. You can tell a lot of thought and care went into the space. It’s a huge gym, with multiple rooms, a spacious open floor plan, and large windows for great light throughout.Even during the busiest hours after work, the space never feels too cramped like some other gyms. I especially like the room with turf which has 10+ squat racks. A perfect space for leg day. They also have a nice lounge/lobby area at the entrance. You’ll always see people hanging out or doing work in there. It makes the club feel more social and a place you can spend time in. The staff are also nice and the front desk person is always friendly and welcoming. The locker rooms also feel quite premium and are always very clean. They have private bathroom stalls with those fancy heated toilet seats with bidets. The showers use glass doors and a marble-like tile that looks elegant. Definitely a big step up from a Planet Fitness or 24 Hour locker room. One minor gripe I have with Fitness SF in general is their toiletries. All their products are from a brand called EO but I really don’t like the smell of any of them. I always bring my own body wash/shampoo.Overall though, Fitness SF Transbay is a fantastic gym that feels modern, spacious and social. It’s definitely one of the best gyms I’ve ever seen for its price point. 💪🏼🏋️♂️
March 06 · Eduardo Sánchez-UbanellLove that there are a lot more yoga classes now with my membership! I go 3 times a week, and it’s been great having better and better instructors and more classes.Always love the Vinyasa classes with Cyrus, he adapts well for different skill levels. Excited to try Tony Asaro & Marc Morozumi’s classes.Hope there will be more morning classes in the future!
September 13 · A XLove this gym but it is absolutely not worth coming to unless you're able to workout between 9am and 4pm otherwise this place is swamped with people. Other than that, this is probably the best gym in the city. It has newer functionable equipment, towel service and the cleaning crew keeps this place spotless. It's also MASSIVE!!
August 02 · Jae JonesThis has been my gym for the better part of 5 years now, and this particular location is what sold me on coming here. They have all the equipment I need, no shortage of squat racks, and everything is super clean, from the equipment to the locker rooms. It still feels brand new after all these years.I'm not much of an exercise class person-I prefer to walk in, do my routine, and get on with my day. This place is perfect for that, and is right by my office building. Can't say enough about how great this spot is, highly recommend!
