In a city where excellence is the standard, Equinox East 63rd Street stands as a beacon of luxury and performance in the fitness world. This isn't just a gym; it's a comprehensive wellness club designed to cater to every aspect of a high-performance lifestyle. Located in the heart of the Upper East Side, it combines a state-of-the-art workout environment with premium amenities, creating an all-encompassing experience that goes far beyond a typical workout. From the moment you walk in, you're not just a member; you're part of a community dedicated to a life of health, regeneration, and achievement. The club's philosophy is built on the idea that fitness should be a dynamic and engaging pursuit, powered by top-tier facilities and expert guidance.
The atmosphere at Equinox is a key part of its allure. The brand has cultivated a reputation for being an aspirational destination, a place where people can truly focus on their fitness goals. The facilities are maintained to a high standard, offering a clean and sophisticated setting. However, as with any popular establishment, there are challenges that come with high demand. Some long-time members have noted that the club, while well-equipped, can feel crowded at peak hours, particularly due to the high volume of personal training sessions. The influx of members can sometimes affect equipment availability and overall comfort on the gym floor. A reviewer mentioned that the gym floor "feels uncomfortably packed" and that trainers can take up a "LOT of space." This highlights a point for potential members to consider: a premium gym in a prime location will naturally attract a large number of people.
Despite these challenges, the service and professionalism of the staff often receive high praise. One review highlighted a particularly positive experience with a salesperson, Mia, who was "incredibly helpful and supportive" without being "pushy at all." This points to a strong customer service culture that aims to make every interaction a positive one. The club’s management is continually working to balance member access with the business's offerings, striving to provide a high-quality experience for everyone.
The location of Equinox East 63rd Street is a major part of its appeal. The club is easily accessible via public transportation, including the Lexington Avenue subway lines, providing a quick and efficient commute from other parts of the city. The central location allows members to easily integrate a workout into their daily routine, whether it's before or after work, or even during a lunch break.

It features a wheelchair-accessible entrance, ensuring that all individuals have the ability to access its facilities. The club also offers practical amenities such as restrooms, showers, and a coat check with built-in locks, which add to the overall convenience of the member experience. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I didn’t actually work out at the gym—I just stopped by to buy some gym wear from their store. I would rate the salesperson, Mia, a 10/10. She was incredibly helpful and supportive, not only providing exactly the information I needed for the gym wear, but also introducing me to a lot of useful details about the gym. And just to note, she wasn’t pushy at all—no hard selling, just genuinely great service. Thank you, Mia, thank you for making my day wonderful.❤️❤️
May 30 · CC YAs a long time equinox member and frequent visitor of 63E, I must say that the experience at this location has been declining at an alarming rate.1. (Most pressing issue) The place is too small for the amount of personal training allowed going on. It used to be spacious but starting last year it’s been very congested with trainers taking up a LOT of space. I understand pt is a big part of the gym’s offering, but it should not come at the expense of regular members’ ability to use the space and equipments comfortably. What was once a spacious and well-balanced environment now feels consistently cramped.2. In addition to personal training congestion, the overall number of visitors has clearly increased. Equipment availability has dropped, and the gym floor often feels uncomfortably packed. The user experience has suffered significantly compared to prior years when member flow was better managed and access to equipment more reasonable.3. Poor Air Conditioning on the Second FloorWith summer temperatures rising, the second floor has become unbearably hot. The air conditioning system does not seem to be functioning adequately.
June 30 · Mengyue SunIt closes at 8PM on Fridays… i try to wrap up workout around 7:30. While shower and changing clothes, at 8PM they turn off the locker room lights. What the hell. I am naked and wiping water. I try to understand that they want customers disappear at 8PM sharp. But cut off the light in the locker room? Can they find another better educated way to ask?? On top of that, the cleaning guy in the locker room keep chasing after me to go out since 7:50PM… what is it? I do not want to mention about it but I freaking paying more than $300 per month for this service…Other than that Facilities newly renovated. Price overpriced compared to the service I receive. Clean environment. Very tiny shower booth. Staff some okay some not
January 28 · isac RVery good overall experience. It has decent hours, too many nyc gyms close so early since covid I feel like I'm living in a senior citizen retirement community and not New York City. Setting this club closes after 10 PM Monday through Thursday and on Friday nights closes at 10pm..Saturday and Sunday 9p. Thank you for staying open late.
April 25 · J DAfter 22 years as a loyal Equinox member, I have cancelled my membership. Other than hearing that the recent price increase now had my membership over $300 per month, the General Manager gave me less than 2 minutes of her time and never asked me to sit down and discuss my extensive Equinox history. Her lack of interest as to additional reasons a longtime member like myself was cancelling my membership confirmed that my decision to leave was the right one.
