---Choosing the Emerald City Gymnastics Academy offers Washington families a distinct blend of high-quality coaching and a uniquely inclusive community environment. Long-term customer feedback consistently highlights that the academy’s greatest strength lies in its staff, with most coaches being described as **“great—supportive, friendly, and skilled.”** This dedication to quality instruction is further evidenced by a member who noted the impressive longevity of the staff, stating, **“It’s pretty impressive to find staff that sticks around these days.”** This stability in the coaching team suggests a high level of expertise and commitment, which directly benefits the children in the program.
For the young athletes of the Puget Sound, ECGA makes the process of developing physical prowess enjoyable. The focus is on making physical achievement fun, as noted by the parent whose daughter has loved the gym for years: the coaches **“offer a variety of classes… & make being strong fun!”** This positive, encouraging culture is vital for sustained engagement in athletics and for building long-term confidence in Washington youth. Furthermore, the explicit dedication to being **LGBTQ+ friendly** and a **Transgender safespace** positions ECGA as a leader in creating a modern, genuinely welcoming athletic community for every single family in the Redmond area.
However, in offering a complete, factual overview, it is necessary to transparently address member feedback regarding administrative policies. One concern raised is the **“rigid vacation policy,”** which requires payment of full tuition to hold a spot even if a child is absent for a month. While this policy may reflect the high demand and limited availability typical of premier programs in the Redmond area, the feedback suggests that **“A little more empathy and flexibility could go a long way”** in improving the family experience. Additionally, isolated incidents involving a specific coach being perceived as **“least approachable and, frankly, quite rude”** indicate that, while the coaching quality is generally superb, management should ensure consistency in staff demeanor across the board.
Ultimately, the commitment to long-term skill development, the fun and engaging training environment, and the highly inclusive community make ECGA the premier choice for Washington families seeking a comprehensive and quality **sports complex** experience.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My kids have enjoyed doing gymnastics here for the past two years, and most of the coaches have been great—supportive, friendly, and skilled. However, our experience with one coach, Kyra, has been consistently disappointing. She has been the least approachable and, frankly, quite rude. For example, today we arrived 10 minutes early, and my son started stretching quietly in the mini munchkin room, which only has a carpet. The hallway was crowded, but Kyra still insisted—rather harshly—that he leave the room, without offering any alternative. It felt unnecessary and unkind, especially given the circumstances.Another concern is the rigid vacation policy. If you plan to be away for a month, you’re still required to pay the full tuition just to keep your child’s spot. So, if your child attends three days a week, you must pay for all three days—even if they don’t attend a single class. This feels unfair, especially when there are no flexible options or discounts.Overall, while the coaching quality is generally good, it’s clear the facility is taking advantage of the lack of other gymnastics options in the Redmond area. A little more empathy and flexibility could go a long way in improving the experience for families.
May 28 · Zdravko BogeskiMy daughter is now in the xcel program at ECGA. She started with the gym at age 3 ( now 11)and has loved it ever since! She has had several of the coaches that are still on staff throughout her years. It’s pretty impressive to find staff that sticks around these days. They offer a variety of classes based on the skill level of your child & make being strong fun!
June 23 · Alison LevengoodThe reply: I want to clarify that what you mentioned is not accurate. I had already decided to withdraw my son from the program before this incident even happened. Starting from the summer, I had planned other activities for him and had already canceled his enrollment prior to that day. Also, this month was our final month, and when you asked why we weren’t returning the following week if my son felt okay, I clearly told you that we were done and I asked for a refund. That’s exactly what happened.Additionally, based on Google reviews from other parents, it seems that similar issues have occurred before. Some mentioned their children were ignored while certain kids were given more attention, and even noted concerns around diversity. While I was there, I also heard a parent ask why the coach was focusing only on a few children and not including everyone equally. The original review: I am very disappointed with my experience at this gymnastics. My son is only 5 years old and the substitute coach completely ignored him and did not take care of him during the class. When I raised my concerns with the coach, she yelled at me and spoke disrespectfully. I’m really disappointed and have decided not to return to the class, even though the manager asked me to come next week. I had already canceled this program for the summer beforehand. We've been with this gymnastics center for two years and have never experienced anything like this beforeAfter I shared my experience, the manager replied saying that my son was just playing and she was only telling him not to jump too close to other kids. I was there and this is not true at all. My son is very shy and stayed quietly, but other children repeatedly pushed him. He was scared and hesitant to jump or move because of this, and the coach did nothing to stop it or protect him.I am deeply disappointed by the lack of care, respect, and professionalism from the staff. This was a very upsetting experience for both me and my son. I cannot recommend this gym to other parents who want a safe and supportive environment for their children.
June 22 · Riham HaEmerald City Gymnastics has been a game-changer for our daughter, and we can't recommend it enough. We've been part of the Emerald City family for over three years and we have found the coaches to be outstanding. They're not just experts in skill development; they put safety first, always. What really sets them apart is their dedication to being positive role models. Our daughter has blossomed under their guidance, and we've seen firsthand the incredible impact they've had on her.Our daughter found her passion for gymnastics fairly late, the coaches however helped her seamlessly transition from recreational to competitive gymnastics, a testament to their commitment to help each child grow.We want to give a special shout-out to some of her coaches over the years, Carolyn, Kyra, Tami, Tara, Taylor, and Erin. Every single one has been an excellent role model, creating a supportive and empowering environment that has helped our daughter thrive as both an athlete and a person.Even now, as our daughter recovers from a long injury layoff, Emerald City Gymnastics has been supportive. The coaches, along with the owner, have been incredibly understanding and proactive in helping her safely get back into her training. This level of care and personalized attention genuinely sets Emerald City Gymnastics apart. If you're looking for a gymnastics school that combines top-notch coaching, a strong focus on safety, and coaches who are genuinely wonderful role models, you've found it with Emerald City Gymnastics. They have our highest recommendation!
June 22 · Swithin GeorgeWe absolutely love ECGA! Our daughter is part of the team and spends about 12 hours a week at the gym — it has truly become her second home. She looks forward to every practice, is fully committed, and thrives during competition season. Her coaches are incredible — they not only believe in her but also support her growth both as an athlete and as a person. Through their guidance, she's learning discipline, resilience, and the value of hard work — lessons that will serve her well in gymnastics and in life.
