Elu Yoga Introduce
If you're in the Washington region and searching for a place to find balance, strength, and community, you may have heard of Elu Yoga. Nestled in the heart of Tacoma, this studio has quickly become a beloved sanctuary for practitioners of all levels. Whether you're a seasoned yogi or just looking to try your first class, Elu Yoga offers a friendly and supportive environment where you can connect with your body and mind.
The name "Elu" is derived from Estonian, the native language of the studio's owner and founder, Nina Palekha. It means "Living," which perfectly encapsulates the studio's philosophy of fostering a vibrant and mindful community. The moment you step into Elu Yoga, you're greeted with a warm and grounding atmosphere. The space is intentionally designed to feel safe and nourishing, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in your practice without pretense or judgment. It’s a place where everyone is not just welcome but celebrated, and where the focus is on your individual journey toward well-being.
The commitment to creating an inclusive space is a major part of Elu Yoga’s identity. The studio is a proud women-owned business, which adds to its sense of community and empowerment. Instructors are known for their gentle encouragement and ability to meet each student where they are, offering a blend of mindful movement and deep wisdom. This approach ensures that whether you are brand-new to yoga or working to deepen an established practice, you will receive the guidance and support you need to thrive.
Beyond the physical practice, Elu Yoga is dedicated to honoring the ancient tradition of yoga, which has been practiced for thousands of years. The studio acknowledges the wisdom and teachings of the ancient sages who have preserved this invaluable discipline, and it strives to foster an environment of respect and mindfulness. The studio is also committed to the local community, acknowledging that its space is located on the traditional and unceded territory of the Puyallup Tribe, a powerful reminder of the deep roots and history of the land in which they practice.
Elu Yoga is conveniently situated in downtown Tacoma, making it easily accessible for residents and visitors alike. The studio’s address is 713 St Helens Ave STE 104, Tacoma, WA 98402, USA. Its central location places it within walking distance of many local shops, cafes, and other amenities, making it a great destination for a day out in the city. The studio is set in a quiet and inviting building, offering a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.

March 24 · Katie BrayIf you’ve had a day or week full of challenges, you should consider joining this outdoor yoga class. Being out in the elements and hearing the birds, the smell of the water and the rustling of leaves.. kids laughing and a little calming music then I highly recommend this outdoor yoga class. It’s very grounding and you’ll leave feeling better than when you got there. The instructor Jessica was pleasant and very in tune with students. After class, you can try the portable sauna which is offered at a discount for new students. Afterward you could opt for a cold plunge to help release all that tension and to help with recovery. Outdoor class is at Owen’s beach in Tacoma. Be aware the park is currently under construction so leave your house early as there is a detour to get into the park. I’ve been looking for outdoor yoga classes and I’m glad I’ve finally found one.
August 19 · Jennifer BautistaI had a great class at noon with Jenny. Found parking really easily and it was a really lovely experience. People were very nice and friendly. It’s a very clean pretty studio, they have these cool orbs around, a mural, and art on the walls. A great addition to the neighborhood!
January 16 · Marguerite MartinLove love LOVE this space! A humble welcoming studio, with great instructors and excellent vibes! The location is super cute and it’s not pretentious at all! I felt at home from my very first practice here 🫶🏼 10/10!
August 26 · Melissa LehmannCommunity yoga has become a weekly routine for me, and what an incredible place to do it in! The space is incredibly beautiful and calming, with stunning local art, amient lighting and AC when needed. Gretchen's practice on sundays is so mindful, meditative and restorative, full of somatic awareness, self compassion, while still delivering both a calming experience that is still challenging and leaves me feeling stronger mentally and physically. I can't imagine starting my week without it, so grateful to have found such a special place.
