★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Drift and Oak Yoga is conveniently located in the Medway Mills (where I also work), which makes it so easy to pop into a class before or after my day. Their classes are incredibly mindful and grounding — you can really feel the intention behind every session. The instructors are welcoming, knowledgeable, and create such a peaceful atmosphere. It's become a highlight when I can jump in on a class.
May 06 · Gina WoelfelNOTE: This is going to be a long review.Six years ago I used to practice regularly when I lived in the Boston area. Then came kids, moving out of the city, and prioritizing my own health was the last thing on my mind. I am so thankful that I listened to that little voice in me, urging me to go back to my mat this January. The space that Bianca and her team have built is one of kindness and care. I came from a place of embarrassment (I don’t know why, maybe it’s Millenial-core), practically apologizing, walking into every class saying that I’ll probably spend most of the time in like an up ended turtle. Every instructor was unphased, offering modifications and having the same message throughout class: listen to your body and be kind to yourself. If you are looking to get back into practice, start new, or are a veteran seeking “the vibes” (said in Julia Fox vocal frye), I encourage you to come to Drift and Oak. The instructors are very knowledgeable, there are a variety of classes (from chakra flow (my favorite!), mat Pilates, functional fitness, vinyasa/yin), and the students are of all levels so you never feel alone when you practice. If you are wondering about instructors specifically, please find a couple notes on those I more often than not practice with.Bianca - If you’ve practiced in Boston, think Ame Wren/Brenna Matthews, and I say with the highest compliment as they were my two favorite teachers. I think Bianca’s power is her interesting sequences that cleverly lead to your peak pose. Great playlists, mostly no-lyrics. I am very thankful for Bianca. Because of her, I have started to feel like the self that I thought I lost. Bianca is a true gem.Amy - If you’ve been hesitant to branch out of yoga, I urge you to take a mat Pilates or functional fitness class with Amy. This was me, two months ago. Amy is one of the most charismatic people I’ve met. Amy being Amy is what draws me back to her classes every week. She is so much fun. Her playlists have such a playful spirit and you laugh the 45 minutes you spend with her. She checks in on you regularly to make sure you are using the weights correctly in functional fitness and the disks, rings, etc. in mat Pilates. You do not need to have any strength or Pilates background. I didn’t! And Amy welcomed me and offered modifications continuously. She pushes you, with care.Cathy - Have you met someone and thought, this person is a healer, whether it be the mind or body? This is Cathy. She is a reiki practitioner and the only way I can explain it, is that Cathy’s just has this energy. You feel this huge amount of warmth from her. A true joy. Cathy has a weekly restore/reiki class every Friday that is sold out and it’s like winning the lottery if you get in. Cathy is 100% the reason why that class has a waitlist four to six people deep; she’s that warm bright light you want to be around.Al - The first time I walked into Al’s class, while I didn’t know her, I knew I already liked her, as her playlist sounded incredible: Taylor Swift’s Evermore! How could you not think, this person is it. Al has the talent of reading the room/asking for suggestions and creating a flow (in her head!) and making it align with what’s going in the class. Really smart sequencing and cues. I am hoping Al increases the classes she teaches. If you have a chance to attend, do it. She’s like a rare bird you don’t want to miss. Find her and take her class.Becka - So so so nice. Has the millennial playlists of my dreams. She’s played back to back Rhianna y’all. Brilliant. Super sweet demeanor while flowing through challenging sequences. Almost like you don’t see it coming because how nice she is? But in the best way. I’ve mostly attended Becka’s classes when she’s subbing due to my work schedule. I will say that when I do see Becka subbing I absolutely do not cancel because I know the vibes are going to be immaculate.I hope this (long) review helped and inspired you to come to Drift and Oak.
March 15 · Alyssa RileyI am a seasoned yoga practitioner and feel so lucky to have this studio open up in town. It’s boutique style let’s you feel at home where you begin to see many of the same faces throughout the week. There’s so many classes to choose from to suit your daily yoga needs, from beginners to a more advanced practice. The pop up sessions are so creative and open you up to new channels of the yoga world. I’m in love with the Sound Bath sessions ❤️. Highly recommend this studio and be sure to check out all the different classes.
December 12 · Christine DuftYou may think I’m biased because I’m a teacher at the studio, but as a result I’ve had the great privilege of taking classes with many of the teachers at drift + oak. Many yoga studios and gyms these days get caught up in the “workout” aspect of yoga which is simply not what it is about. I love drift + oak for honoring the meditative, mindful aspects of yoga, while offering a range of class types from restorative to dynamic. The studio space is a welcoming, cozy, and nurturing “happy place”. Classes are intimate and you get to know the students and teachers you see regularly. Bianca, the owner, is a pro at teaching to beginners and setting students up for success and to fall in love with yoga. Love it here! ❤️
December 15 · Alexandra DewsnapI joined D+O in April 2022 with no expectations, as someone who has enjoyed a yoga practice in the past but never found her “place”. From the first class I took with Bianca, I knew I had found it. D+O has been my saving grace the last ten months and I look forward to every class I attend! The class offerings are diverse enough to choose your own path and the instructors truly care about each person’s unique journey. Feels great to be a part of something so wonderful!
