Cus D'Amato's KO Boxing Gym Inc Introduce
For New Yorkers with a passion for boxing, a trip to Cus D'Amato's KO Boxing Gym Inc is more than just a visit—it’s a pilgrimage. Located in Catskill, NY, this historic gym is not a modern, polished sports complex, but a sacred ground where legends were forged. It is the very place where the legendary trainer Cus D'Amato and Kevin Rooney guided a young Mike Tyson on his journey to becoming a world champion. The gym stands as a powerful testament to the sport's history, a place where the echoes of countless punches and the spirit of perseverance still resonate. For many, the gym's greatest "amenity" is its rich and inspiring legacy, which serves as a constant motivator for anyone who steps through its doors.
The core identity of Cus D'Amato's KO Boxing Gym is its connection to boxing's "golden age." The gym's atmosphere is steeped in the discipline, philosophy, and grit of the fighters who trained there. The very walls seem to inspire dedication and hard work, attracting boxing enthusiasts from all over who want to experience a piece of this history. As one fan from a review put it, they were motivated by the prospect of training where their "favorite idol Mike Tyson" once worked. This emotional and historical connection is what makes the gym so much more than a training facility; it's a living monument to the sport's greatness. While the gym may not offer the flashy equipment of a modern fitness center, its authenticity and historical significance are what make it truly priceless. It’s a place where you can learn to box the old-fashioned way, absorbing the lessons of its storied past.
It is important for visitors to be aware that the gym's historical nature means it has a rustic charm, and its location and access points can be challenging. A review from a visitor highlights that the main entrance is on North Street, not Main Street, and that the steps leading to it can be tricky. This information is crucial for those planning a visit, as it ensures they can arrive safely and without a "fiasco" of a search. The gym's unique character and location are part of what make it so special, but they also require a little bit of extra planning to experience fully.
Cus D'Amato's KO Boxing Gym is located at 422 Main St Floor 3, Catskill, NY 12414, USA. However, as noted by a visitor, a key detail to remember is that the actual entrance is on North Street. This is an important piece of information for anyone planning a trip, as navigating to the correct entrance will make the visit much smoother. The gym is situated in the heart of Catskill, a village rich with history and charm, making it a fitting home for such a legendary establishment.
When it comes to accessibility, the gym offers a wheelchair accessible parking lot. However, as one reviewer pointed out, the stairs to the entrance from Main Street are not ideal, and it is highly recommended to park and access the gym from North Street. The gym does have a restroom available, which is a practical amenity for visitors and trainees.
While a definitive list of classes may not be publicly available, the gym's primary service is clear from its identity: boxing training.
- Boxing Training: The gym's core offering is training in the art and science of boxing, likely for a wide range of skill levels, from beginners to aspiring professionals.
- Youth Boxing: The gym is noted as being "good for kids," which suggests that it offers programs or classes tailored for younger individuals who are interested in learning the sport.
- Historical Connection: One of the gym's most compelling "services" is the opportunity it provides to train in a place with immense historical significance, offering a unique motivational environment that can't be found elsewhere.
For those interested in what specific programs or classes are available, it is best to contact the gym directly, as the information available focuses more on its reputation and history rather than a detailed list of offerings.

July 12 · AMANThe gym was closed when we arrived but we took pictures of the outside. One really important note is that the entrance of the gym is actually on North Street, not Main street. There is a set of stairs from Main St that lead to North St. I do not recommend taking them. They are stone steps of all different sizes and rickety. It had snowed a few days ago so there was still a little snow and some ice on the steps. We almost broke our necks and when we reached the top of the stairs they just led to a garage and we had to jump down to another set of stairs to continue...a whole fiasco. Save yourself the drama and just park on North Street.

August 28 · Mr. robinsonI was there to pay homage to the historic gym that paved the way for Cus and Tyson, a shame it wasn't open and it didn't look very inviting for a fan or a tourist. There was nothing outside by the entrance to let you know the history behind this gym and the impact it gave to the sport of boxing. I understand there is more inside and maybe one day I can try to visit again.
July 22 · Captain KiddHaven't been here but I want to thank you, Carter in all the ways for the YouTube channel that you've made! It helps me out, the videos both psychological and boxing are worth the watch! Thank you!
