All Bodies Strong Introduce
In the health-conscious and diverse city of Portland, Oregon, finding a gym that truly feels like a second home can be a transformative experience. All Bodies Strong is not just another fitness center; it is a safe and unapologetically inclusive space where the focus is on celebrating movement, strength, and community over appearance and competition. In a fitness industry often dominated by rigid body standards and "diet talk," All Bodies Strong has created a refreshingly positive environment that welcomes and accepts people of all sizes, gender identities, races, and sexual orientations. This ethos is so deeply ingrained in the gym's culture that members feel a genuine sense of belonging and camaraderie from the moment they walk in. As one member shared, it is "the most inclusive gym environment I've been to." The gym's mission is to empower individuals to feel safe and confident in their own skin, promoting a "fat-forward" and body-positive approach to fitness. The gym's founders, Will Lay and Christina Malone, both competitive powerlifters, designed the space they always needed but couldn't find, creating a gym built by and for larger bodies. For anyone in the Oregon region who has ever felt anxious or out of place in a traditional gym setting, All Bodies Strong offers a powerful alternative where you can be accepted for who you are, without judgment or shame. This commitment to inclusivity and personal well-being is what makes it a standout choice in Portland's fitness scene.
All Bodies Strong is conveniently located at 320 NE Failing St, Portland, OR 97212, USA. This location places it in the King neighborhood, making it easily accessible for residents across Portland. This thoughtful design ensures that the facility is welcoming and functional for individuals with varying mobility needs. The address itself is a clear and direct destination for anyone looking to visit, whether for a drop-in session or to learn more about membership. The location in a well-traveled part of Northeast Portland makes it a straightforward journey for many, and the parking lot is a significant convenience in a bustling urban environment. By considering the practical needs of their community, All Bodies Strong ensures that the journey to a healthier, happier you is as smooth as possible, allowing members to focus on their workout without added stress.
All Bodies Strong provides a range of services designed to meet diverse fitness needs in a supportive, non-judgmental atmosphere. The gym offers a variety of small-group classes, typically with 6-8 people, that are designed to be both effective and enjoyable. These classes cover a wide range of disciplines, including barbell basics, boxing, yoga, and more, offering a chance for members to "explore and play" with different types of movement. The gym also offers Open Gym hours, which provide members with full access to the space and all of its equipment on their own schedule. This flexibility is perfect for those who prefer to work out independently or want to supplement their class participation with solo training. For individuals with specific goals, personal training is also a core service. Members can work one-on-one with expert coaches to develop a personalized plan that fits their unique needs and aspirations. The coaches at All Bodies Strong are highly knowledgeable and committed to providing guidance that is "trauma-informed and size-conscious," ensuring every person feels safe and supported. The gym is also known for its special events, such as the "Puppy Pull," a deadlift competition that raises money for dog rescues. This community event is a perfect example of how the gym blends fitness with fun and social responsibility, making exercise a part of a larger, positive lifestyle. The owners have curated the equipment to be highly adjustable and reinforced, with wider seats and reinforced components to accommodate a wide range of body sizes. The thoughtful selection of equipment ensures that everyone can find a way to move that feels good in their body.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I have been to many gyms and many gym atmospheres in my life & All Bodies strong is the most inclusive gym environments I’ve been to. I don’t live in Portland but I’ve visited Portland multiple times & went to ABS & even attended one of their charity events the Puppy Pull, which is a deadlift competition raising money for dog rescues. It was so much fun & so welcoming to people who had never competed before & as someone who had competed in a powerlifting competition it was nice to see the camaraderie. I think what I love most about this gym is that it’s free of diet talk & a positive environment for people of any & all sizes, gender identities, races, sexual orientation, etc. . It’s a space you can feel safe and be safe in and feel & be accepted for who you are. Highly recommend this gym! And tell them I sent you :-)
August 22 · Kanoelani PattersonWhat an awesome and inclusive space! I went for yoga tonight. Part of their free trial for a week. It was mind-blowing how comfortable I felt. As a fat person, I get anxious at the gym, even planet fitness. The owners have curated a really nice inclusive safe space for all body shapes. They were welcoming and kind. Answered questions I had. Definitely joining.
January 28 · Zohair HussainI followed Will and Christina to their brand new gym and have nothing but the best things to say about everything they've built. They're sincere, humane, funny, and deeply caring people who know exactly what they're doing and why it matters. If you think a lifting gym isn't for you, you're not thinking of this one. Please check All Bodies out, if only just to say hello. You'll be delighted.
May 22 · Jay PeaceIf you have a childhood memory of being on a playground, engaging with a bunch of other kids, straight up having fun before the world taught you about shame: this place will make you feel that again. I’ve been in some kind of sport my whole life but spent the last 5 years or so trying to redefine my relationship with exercise. ABS is the place for me. Coaches listen and care. They want to make sure the movement is serving you, not the other way around. Exercise is not penance here. If this sounds at all like something you want, please come! If it doesn’t, move right along!
April 06 · Leslie WorthingtonAll Bodies Strong has legitimately changed my life in the best way! In the past my experiences with fitness have not been the greatest as it had felt toxic and gate keeping. But in April of 2024 I attended two classes and was immediately sold! The community going down at All Bodies Strong is incredible! All of the coaches and people who attend classes here are so supportive, caring, genuine, kind, funny, and helpful. But at the same time, you will also be challenged in a way that will lead you to becoming a better stronger version of yourself. And not just physically, but mentally as well. I started at 3 classes a week, but immediately moved up to unlimited! Every single day the thing I look forward to the most is my class at All Bodies Strong! I attend 5 days a week. I recently have been attending the boxing and yoga classes as well, and I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of it all! 10/10 recommend! I’m only getting started! I can’t wait to keep it moving with the support and encouragement of the entire community at All Bodies Strong! You all rock and make everything so fun, yet challenging!
