Accel Gymnastics Training Center Introduce
Introduction / Overview
Accel Gymnastics Training Center, situated in Burlingame, CA, positions itself as a specialized sports complex dedicated exclusively to the instruction and practice of gymnastics. Established with a vision of providing a fun, healthy, and supportive environment for movement education, the center caters to a wide spectrum of athletes—from toddlers taking their first steps on a beam to high-level competitors vying for regional and national titles. The facility boasts a large, modern space designed to accommodate a high volume of students across various programs, emphasizing physical fitness, coordination, and key life skills such as persistence, resilience, and discipline.
While the facility itself is impressive, offering separate dedicated areas and high-quality equipment, it is essential for prospective California users to conduct thorough due diligence. The goal of Accel is to build both strong bodies and minds, aiming to create confident young people through focused and dedicated training. However, community feedback highlights significant concerns regarding management practices, staff stability, and perceived shortfalls in transparent communication and safety protocols. As a specialized training center, the focus is squarely on gymnastics, camps, and related fitness activities, rather than general open gym or multi-sport complex offerings.
Location and Accessibility
Accel Gymnastics Training Center is conveniently located in Burlingame, CA, making it highly accessible for families across San Mateo County and the surrounding San Francisco Bay Area peninsula.
Address: 1535 Rollins Rd, Burlingame, CA 94010, USA
The center’s location on Rollins Road is typically accessible via major local roadways and is well-known within the area’s organized youth sports circuits. The facility has taken measures to ensure it is available to all members of the community by providing specific accessibility features:
- Wheelchair accessible entrance: Ensuring smooth and safe entry into the training center for all athletes, parents, and spectators.
- Wheelchair accessible parking lot: Dedicated parking spaces are available near the entrance, offering convenience and ease of access.
With the general operating hours running on weekdays in the afternoon/evening (typically 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM) and Saturday mornings, access is primarily focused on after-school and weekend timeslots. Its central location makes it a practical destination for families commuting from cities across the peninsula.
Services Offered
Accel Gymnastics Training Center offers a comprehensive array of specialized gymnastics and related movement programs for various age and skill levels:
- Preschool Programs: Classes specifically designed for the youngest students (often ages 3-5), focusing on basic motor skills, coordination, and social skills in a separate, controlled environment.
- Recreational Gymnastics ('Accel Academy'): Non-competitive classes for boys and girls aged 5 and older, categorized by skill levels (Basics, Intermediates, Advanced/Levels 1-4), emphasizing movement education and physical fitness for fun.
- Developmental Programs (e.g., MIGHTY MIGHTS, DYNA MIGHTS, PRE TEAM): Accelerated training tracks targeting younger athletes who show aptitude and motivation for competitive gymnastics, building strength, flexibility, and foundational skills.
- Competitive Team Training: Programs for USAG Developmental Program Levels 2-10 and Xcel levels, featuring rigorous training schedules and access to the dedicated Team Training Center.
- Summer Camps: Week-long day camps with various themes (e.g., Aloha Summer, Olympics Camp) that incorporate gymnastics instruction with other fun activities for a broad age range.
- Birthday Parties: Offering a unique venue and activities for private celebrations.
The core business is structured around sustained enrollment in these specialized classes rather than drop-in or general fitness membership.
Features / Highlights
The physical facility and structured programming are the primary highlights of Accel Gymnastics Training Center, setting it apart as a dedicated gymnastics complex:
- Expansive and Modern Facility: The center operates in a large, modern space, reported to be up to 34,000 square feet, providing ample room for training and dedicated gym areas.
- Specialized Equipment for All Levels: The facility is split into areas with equipment specifically for Rec classes (Olympic Sized Full Floor, Trampoline, Tumble Trak) and the Competitive Team Training Center.
- Dedicated Competitive Training Center: Competitive athletes benefit from their own area with specialized, extensive equipment, including two full 48x48 floor exercises, multiple vault tables, several uneven bar sets, high bars, and a full weight rack.
- Comprehensive Skill Progression: Programs are meticulously structured from Preschool to Elite Level 10, allowing children to progress through all stages of their gymnastics journey within one center.
- Commitment to Community Engagement: The organization reports having provided services and monetary donations in excess of $100,000 to local PTAs and has offered reduced fees for families in need, demonstrating a long history of community support in San Mateo County.
While the physical resources are impressive, it is imperative to acknowledge that community feedback raises serious concerns about operational stability, staff retention (high turnover), and management’s communication with parents. Prospective families should weigh the benefits of the elite facilities against these reported administrative challenges and safety concerns before making a commitment.

What is Worth Choosing
Choosing Accel Gymnastics Training Center is a decision to invest in a highly specialized gymnastics environment in the San Francisco Bay Area. It is worth choosing for families whose primary goal is access to:
- Elite, Dedicated Training Equipment: The expansive, professional-grade facility with separate Rec and Team gyms and Olympic-level equipment is a rare asset in the region, ideal for serious, focused gymnastics training.
- Structured Progression for Competitive Athletes: The multi-tiered program structure, from Developmental to USAG Level 10, provides a clear pathway for dedicated young athletes to pursue the highest levels of the sport.
- Specialized Skill Focus: The complex specializes solely in gymnastics, ensuring that all resources, time, and coaching focus are directed toward this single sport, which is advantageous for skill mastery.
**A Crucial Consideration for California Families:** Based on strong and repeated customer feedback, prospective users must approach enrollment with caution. Due to serious and detailed concerns cited in public reviews regarding safety (unqualified coaches/spotting), poor management, high staff turnover, lack of communication, and unprofessional conduct by the owner, parents are strongly advised to personally observe classes, speak with multiple current parents, and verify current staffing and safety protocols before committing to enrollment. The choice is primarily between top-tier physical facilities and reported organizational instability.

Accel Gymnastics Training Center Reviews
The gym has very poor management, and the owner treats staff and parents with great disrespect and scorn. Nothing is transparent-- can barely get a response from the administration, schedules changing on a whim, constant turnover of coaching staff. I had high hopes for this place and it really disappointed us. **There were also serious safety concerns with some coaches clearly not qualified to train and/or spot athletes.** Good luck on your gymnastics journey!
August 05 · Eva GurevichSTAY AWAY.. Emotionally unstable and unprofessional owner. It pains me as we loved this gym, but it has all changed.Athlete's emotional, and physical safety is not the owners concern.- he fires coaches without coverage plans- he is rude and unprofessional to parents- he failed to have sufficient staff to instruct gymnasts safely- his competition fees are 2X other gyms in the area with no justification for the extra costsAfter. 3 years with great experiences due to the dedicated coaching staff the owner has run the gym into the ground in the course of 90 days. The fact is he fired my daughter Coach who had just won NorCal coach of the year without a plan for coverage, and had no care for the emotional impact on his athletes. Athlete's were crying due the abrupt firing and the were unsupervised during practices over the next weeks.A gym needs to puts it's gymnasts first, I feel bad for the owner as he is going through a difficult time, but he can't put the safety of his gymnasts at risk.Stay away, don't put you children's safety at risk.
July 01 · Doug MillerWe are so grateful that a friend suggested we check out Accel gymnastics. My middle daughter absolutely loved her preschool class with teacher Addie, in fact, it was the highlight of her week! The space they have for little kids is perfect, and we were so impressed with the friendliness/responsiveness of the office staff as well. We highly recommend Accel to any families who are wanting to try out gymnastics for the first time!
