★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Edit: 6 months later and nothing has changed. There are numerous machines broken. Several (including the cable stations) have been broken for nearly 6 months. No one here cares. I’ve been to other 24 hour fitness locations when time allows in the area (Gladstone, Beaverton, Sellwood, Lake O) during that time and there are ZERO broken machines.I want my money back. This is ridiculous.I joined 24 hour fitness because they have several gyms around the area which suits my needs. This one is the bottom of the barrel but also happens to be my home gym. It’s not terrible, but machines and cable stations are frequently broken, often for weeks at a time. Most of the TVs in the weight training area don’t work (not a huge loss but…why?). They have a team of two guys working hard trying to fix stuff but they clearly need either more help or access to more repair equipment. Other locations in the area have better machines (for instance Prime machines in Gladstone, or mag-grip attachments in Beaverton), more machines, as well as better barbells. This location desperately needs to replace two of their free-motion cable stations which are rickety and warped beyond repair, and could use another full cable station and squat rack. Oddly, there is a huge amount of real estate inside where they used to have a kids drop off and private training that has laid entirely fallow for more than 2 years. Wish they would use that space for more equipment.Cleanliness is hit and miss but that’s more on the clientele not cleaning up. They do have staff cleaning several times per day.
August 08 · Andy RontalWith a central location and window filled space, this 24 Hour Fitness has the potential to be great. Having been a member since 2017 I take no pleasure in writing this review and I hope that improvements will be made. The CEO of the company has spoken on how the brand is meant to be positioned as slightly more premium than the high value low price segment—this gym falls short on both. This location is in a state of disrepair for the following reasons:1. Cleanliness:The cleanliness across the facility is overall very poor and certain areas are particularly bad.Parking structure: The concrete is covered in gum and trash is often littered around. The stairwells frequently smell like urine. Regular cleaning here is necessary in addition to pressure washing. More cameras should be installed throughout and in the stairwells.Entrance/ Hallway: The hallway is not bad as it seems to be maintained by an outside contractor with proper cleaning supplies, as their are other tenants in the building. The floor mats at the reception need to be replaced as they are worn out and dirty. Consider adding an air purifier to the reception area to signal that cleanliness is a priority.Men’s Locker Room: The men’s locker room is unhygienic due to lack of cleaning and in part due to poor etiquette from some members. The lockers are grimy and the insides do not seem to be ever wiped down. The locker room often smells unpleasant. The floors need to be steam cleaned. Many of the sinks are often out of order for long periods of time. The sinks are usually surrounded with grime and some people shave their hair in the sinks and leave a mess across the counter (I have seen blood from shaving which is a clear biohazard). I have seen people blaring music at the sink while shaving and making a mess. It’s clear that hourly cleaning is needed in addition to enforcing rules so that everyone can enjoy a clean club.Solution: Members should be warned when exhibiting poor conduct and if it continues then should have their membership terminated. Signage should be placed near the sinks reminding people to keep the sinks clean to keep the space nice for others. Technology at the exit of the locker rooms should be implemented to allow members to take a quick survey on the locker rooms cleanliness and provide instant feedback. Think something like a HappyorNot terminal or any other service company that provides a similar software. Cleaning can be made more transparent by posting a cleaning log sheet that shows when the locker room was last cleaned. Team members should receive incentives and recognition for doing good work.Wet area: The sauna is unhygienic and needs daily cleaning. Staff need to enforce rules about not wearing gym clothes/ shoes in the sauna to make it clear it is not acceptable.Strength floor: The strength floor often smells bad. Cleaning is surface level if done at all. Dirt and dust is caked onto most of the machines. I have never seen machines or dumbbells being sanitized by staff. Many members fail to wipe down equipment before and after use. Cleaning staff should be paid at least $24/hr and more are needed. More signage should be put up to encourage members to wipe before and after use. Air purifiers and more supplies are needed.2. Maintenance: Most of the combination lockers are broken or permanently locked. The hand dryer is out of order. Many of the treadmills slip when running or don’t work properly. Availability of resistance bands is limited. Mats often smells bad. The Stairstepper arm machine display doesn’t function. The sun blinds are consistently broken on the cardio floor. The battle ropes are in an inaccessible location. Countless of the bikes have broken foot straps. The sauna thermostat is broken.3. Equipment: Equipment variety is good but needs updating. They need treadmills that go over 12mph. The turf needs cleaning. More 15/20 lb dumbbells are needed to match demand.I will say that the staff are friendly.I hope to see 24 Hour Fitness turn around or be acquired by a more strategic company.
January 08 · Henry LIf your here to just lift weights great.. If you are handicap and need to use the elevator forget it out of service. If you need water to drink forget it fountains don’t work.. If need a semi clean environment and not get a staph infection forget it.. If you need any kind of answers, forget it staff knows nothing nor cares to help find solutions or timelines to solutions. Lift at your own risk bring antiseptic and sandals.. Don’t bother going to other locations just as bad..Hey 24hr why should i reach out to you simply visit any of your locations is all you need to do they all need a thorough cleaning just ti start and not once but weekly and i have tried to reach out with ZERO response either through your managers, phone calls to corporate and email not one response.. look at the picture for instance the elevator has been out for how long??? You tell me look at the poor guy pictured took him 20 minutes to try and walk up the stairs. How long will the clogged foul smelling sink in the mens room not work, how long before the fountain filters are changed so water actually comes out, how about cleaning the black mold off the fountains at your Pearl location? I could go on and on..
July 08 · Sugar SodaMostly what other people have said is true. This place is extremely dirty and looks and feels like it hasn't been cleaned in years. Broken equipment along with just a disgusting basketball court. I would avoid this one at all costs. 24 hour fitness seems to be in a death spiral as a business and it shows.Since this year things have been falling off a cliff for the business. I'm guessing they fell way under projections for new sign ups. It looks like they have cut costs in cleaning and maintenance. If this place was free to go to I would still advise you go someplace else.Edit: For whomever from corporate or the actual gym that responds to these clean! You will continue to hemorrhage sign ups if when people walk in they see just dirt and grime everywhere. 70% of the gyms in the area have either broken basketball hoops and lights and the floors haven't been cleaned properly since I'm guessing covid. You will 100% turn into one of those gyms where people will say you get what you pay for. Then I'm guessing in about 5 years I will see articles about what was the downfall of 24 hour fitness. You will go the way of blockbuster video and so many other companies that tried to save a few dollars. Hire an outside cleaning staff!!!
July 24 · Nico YoungThis gym has definitely gone downhill since its opening, but it’s not horrible. I say I get what I pay for. However, they do need to repair machines more quickly. The leg press machine has been broken for a month or more now and it’s the only one. It’s also an important machine for most lifters. That’s been frustrating that there’s no urgency to fix machines. There’s always at least a few machines out of order. :( I’m hoping with the new planet fitness opening down the street 24 hr will step it up to keep their members.
