Features / Highlights
Several distinctive features make YOGA108 a standout choice in the Southern California yoga scene, setting it apart as a space of quality and unique intention:
- Radiant (Infrared) Heat: The heated classes use special radiant heat, which warms objects (like the students’ bodies) rather than just the air. This heat is often described as feeling like gentle sun on the skin. This method is known to improve circulation, relax muscles, provide pain relief, and help the body flush out toxins, enhancing the 'hot yoga' experience without the stifling humidity of traditional air-heated studios.
- Philosophy & Bhakti Focus: The studio merges strong physical asana with the ancient teachings of yoga, particularly incorporating Bhakti yoga (the yoga of devotion). Offerings like the free Gita Group (diving into the Bhagavad Gita) and Community Kirtan sessions offer pathways for students interested in the spiritual and philosophical depths of the practice, distinguishing it from purely fitness-focused studios.
- Top-Notch Teacher Training: The studio's 200-Hour and 300-Hour YTT programs are highly regarded, focusing on a perfect blend of learning asana, teaching skills, and the wisdom of the yoga tradition. This ensures a consistent level of quality among their teaching staff and supports the development of future high-caliber instructors in the region.
- Community Focus: The studio actively cultivates a supportive and connected community through various offerings, including low-cost community classes (often taught by new graduates to gain experience) and social events like kirtan with vegan treats.
- Modern Amenities: The space includes two dedicated yoga classrooms and amenities such as a restroom, with the added option of available mat and towel rentals for convenience.

Choosing a yoga studio in a diverse region like Southern California can be a personal decision, but YOGA108 offers compelling reasons for it to be a top contender for Long Beach and surrounding California communities. It is an ideal space for those who want a practice that is both physically challenging and spiritually enriching. The commitment to a serious Vinyasa practice, evident in their Level 2/3 classes, is perfectly balanced by the inclusion of foundational Level 1 and restorative Yin classes, ensuring that students can grow and adapt their practice as needed.
The unique utilization of radiant heat, which is praised by practitioners for its soothing and detoxifying properties, provides a superior hot yoga experience. Furthermore, the studio's strong foundation in yogic philosophy, offering kirtan and in-depth study groups, is a significant differentiator. This blend attracts a supportive and authentic community, as noted by customer reviews, which describe the studio as having a “Great vibe” and a welcoming environment that feels like “coming home to family.” For anyone in California looking for a yoga home that emphasizes technical skill, bodily health, and genuine connection to the deeper tradition of yoga, YOGA108 in Downtown Long Beach offers a comprehensive and heartfelt path.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Our favorite yoga studio hands down. The heated studio is so calming. I appreciate them not enabling people to walk into a class late, which is so disruptive elsewhere. So many great instructors, all with different styles, so all different needs are accommodated. It also is a great community if you take the chance to get to know the instructors and fellow students. Their teacher training is top-notch. A 108-trained instructor is going to be good, take it from me. You might think I'm biased since my wife trained there and now teaches there, but everything I've said here was how I felt before all that.
September 14 · David OllardCame into port on a ship and so needed hot yoga. Yoga108 did not disappoint! Loved the infrared studio, clean and well designed. Alexa taught our 75 minute hot vinyasa flow that was awesome. From the minute we walked into the studio, we felt welcome. Great vibe, great class. Drop in if you are in Long Beach, loved it!
October 17 · Jennifer CantinHands down my favorite yoga studio around… from the ambiance to the location, this spot really nails it. They have a great variety of classes and events that they offer here, some that are quite unique and I love that about them. The teachers are wonderful, kind, and highly skilled. Once I found Yoga 108, it became my yoga “home”, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone, whether you are just starting out, or are looking to take you current practice to the next level. ❤️
