US Gymnastics Training Center Introduce
Introduction / Overview
For families in the greater Lake Zurich and Chicago suburbs of Illinois, the US Gymnastics Training Center (USGTC) stands out as a major hub for youth athletics and developmental fitness. Far more than just a typical gym, this facility is a dedicated gymnastics center committed to fostering excellence in movement, building confidence, and cultivating a lifelong love for fitness in children of all ages and skill levels. Whether your child is just beginning their movement journey in a parent-and-tot class or is aiming for the rigor of competitive training, USGTC provides a structured, safe, and exciting environment.
The center prides itself on its wide array of programs, designed to meet the diverse needs and energy levels of young athletes. The focus is on a progressive skill development model, ensuring that every child is challenged but never overwhelmed. Beyond core classes, USGTC is well-regarded as a location for memorable events, with a massive facility that can easily accommodate large groups for birthday parties and open-play sessions. One customer, thrilled with a recent birthday party, noted that while the photos online were deceiving, the actual space is huge: "We had 23 kids and there was tons of room for everyone to enjoy themselves."
USGTC’s philosophy is centered on treating children with dignity and respect, creating a secure space where they feel safe taking risks, trying hard, and learning through making mistakes. The commitment to a positive, supportive atmosphere is what drives parents across the Illinois area to choose this center for their children's athletic and developmental needs.

Services Offered
USGTC provides a comprehensive suite of programming that spans the entire developmental spectrum for children. Their offerings are designed to cater to various ages, skill levels, and fitness interests:
- Preschool Gymnastics Classes (Mommy & Me, TOT, Kindergym): Three distinct levels are offered to suit toddlers and preschoolers, focusing on developing fundamental motor skills, coordination, and confidence in a fun, parent-involved or independent setting. Over 44 preschool classes are typically available.
- Girls’ and Boys’ Recreational Gymnastics: A variety of programs are available for school-age children, including tiered levels (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum) for girls, and a dynamic lineup for boys. These classes build strength, flexibility, and core gymnastics skills in a fun and engaging atmosphere.
- Tumbling Classes: With over 20 specialized tumbling classes, the three-tier development program (Intro, Intermediate, Semi-Private) is ideal for those focused on skills like cartwheels, handstands, backflips, and aerial maneuvers. These classes are perfect for gymnasts, cheerleaders, and dancers alike.
- USAG Competitive Team Program: The center hosts a high-level competitive team for USAG Levels 3-10 and Xcel Silver through Platinum, dedicated to rigorous training, skill mastery, and participation in state and regional competitions.
- Birthday Parties: USGTC is a popular destination for children's parties, offering a dedicated party package that typically includes an hour of supervised gym activities (trampolines, pits, obstacles) and 30 minutes in a private party room. Staff ensures safety and assists with setup and cleanup, making it a stress-free experience for parents.
- Open Gyms and Camps: The center frequently schedules open gym sessions, camps (Summer, Winter, Holiday), and clinics, providing flexible opportunities for children to practice skills, burn off energy, or just have fun with friends in a safe, supervised environment.
Features / Highlights
What makes the US Gymnastics Training Center a standout choice for Illinois families? It’s a combination of professional quality and community focus:
- Massive Facility and Equipment: The center houses an impressive amount of space, trampolines, pits, and quality gymnastics apparatus, ensuring that a large number of children can safely engage in activities without feeling crowded—a key factor for successful parties and classes.
- Safety-First, Professional Staff: Customer feedback often highlights the effectiveness of the staff. For birthday parties, staff is described as "incredible on keeping an eye on all the kids, making sure they are safe," providing parents with peace of mind during activities.
- Skill Progression Program: Classes are structured using a detailed Skill Progression Program, which ensures that children advance at their own pace. This approach is designed to be challenging yet not overwhelming, maximizing individual attention with a low student-to-teacher ratio (typically 8:1).
- Good for Kids Designation: The entire facility and its programs are designed with children in mind, making it a natural environment for movement, play, and developing essential physical literacy from a young age.
- Flexibility for Busy Families: In addition to regular weekly classes, the availability of camps and open gym times provides flexible options for parents needing childcare or an engaging activity during school breaks and weekends, with open gym passes often serving as make-up classes for missed sessions.

What is Worth Choosing
Choosing the US Gymnastics Training Center in Lake Zurich is an investment in your child’s physical development, confidence, and ability to move with grace and strength. What sets USGTC apart, despite occasional friction during busy public hours, is the sheer size of its facility and the depth of its professional programming.
While one review detailed a negative experience during "open play" due to a lack of separation from a private class, this feedback offers an important reminder to confirm schedules and boundaries for open times. Crucially, the same review noted the inherent conflict between private classes and open play in a shared space, a logistical challenge common to many high-demand sports centers. The overwhelming positive sentiment, particularly regarding the size of the facility and the incredible safety supervision during events, makes it a premier choice for organized activities.
The biggest draw remains the structured excellence: the wide range of classes for all ages, the expert coaches, the commitment to the USAG developmental guidelines, and the fact that staff are actively focused on keeping children safe and entertained. For families in the Illinois region seeking a comprehensive, large-scale, and professionally run center for gymnastics, tumbling, and dynamic play, USGTC provides the necessary resources to ensure their children thrive in a fun and active environment.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Came here today with my friend and our toddlers for an open play and had a horrible experience. I guess "open gym" is not really an open play because during the open gym they also had a private kids tumbling class. I soon as one of our kids or other kids stepped into their space which was not separated and close to all the trampolines we were told it is a private class here. We tried being respectful and not have our kids disrupt their class. As we tried moving our kids away from that space one of the parents from the private class first gave dirty looks and pointing fingers at my friend and her child from behind the glass where parents watch their kids. My friend made me aware of this. Then I fell the victim of pointing fingers and using nasty body language to move my child away, as I tried then my kid started crying. My child does not know the difference between open gym or a private class. Kids want to be kids. We came here to have fun but instead they made us feel like we shouldn't be here. Maybe they should separate their private classes from the open gym because kids dont know any better. Or schedule different times for each. I brought this up to a manager but he was too afraid to even confront the nasty private class parent for her behavior. Said he was aware of her behavior and can't control it. So I had to do it myself and she still thinks she is better than anyone else. You can't fix miserable and entitled princeses. We all paid to be in the same space with our kids. Do yourself and your child a favor and don't come in here for the "open but closed gym" unless you want to push your kid away from playing.
April 08 · Anna IgnutWe had my sons 9th birthday party and it was perfect. At first I was worried from seeing the photos online however it doesn’t give you the idea how big the place is. We had 23 kids and there was tons of room for everyone to enjoy themselves. The staff there was incredible on keeping an eye on all the kids making sure they are safe. Would highly recommend it.
February 20 · Jesal PatelI don’t usually write reviews, but after today’s experience, I feel like I need to share my frustration and disappointment. My son has been attending this gymnastics center for a few months now, and we’ve had mostly positive experiences. He started out a little shy, but with the support of Coach Abi, he gradually became more comfortable was able to participate on his own. It was such a relief to see him enjoy it and thrive. However, after the schedule switched to Coach McKenna, things have taken a turn. My son just doesn’t seem to connect with her style, and as a result, he’s been really reluctant to participate and stay in class. Today, my son kept running out of the gym, so I stepped in to help him feel more comfortable. I was in the corner, out of the way, and I thought I was being respectful of the space. I was in there for maybe not even 5 minutes and then, two separate staff members came up to me very rudely and told me I couldn’t stay. This was never an issue before with Coach Abi and I was completely blindsided by how I was treated. It made me feel humiliated and upset that my son, a 3 year old toddler needed the extra support of me being there to engage when it was never a problem in the past.I understand the rules but the inconsistency in how they were enforced today really bothered me. I’ve seen other parents stay in the room with their kids without any issue. I pointed out that another mom was staying with her child 100% of the time in each class in the previous session, but she explained that her daughter had different needs, making me feel like my son’s needs weren’t as important. It was incredibly hurtful. After being treated so rudely, I left the class early with my son when he came running out to me once again. I felt so uncomfortable and ashamed. I just wanted to help my son feel better about the class, but instead, I felt like I was being punished for trying to do what was best for him. I’ve always been respectful of the rules, but this experience has really made me question whether this place is the right fit for us. I wanted to share this in case any other parents are in a similar situation or can understand how disheartening it was to be treated this way.
January 17 · Jessica KarlukWe started gymnastic classes here almost 2 years ago and we love the place since then. My two kids, now 4 & 5 years old, love the coaches and the classes a lot. I would recommend to everybody !
