Urban Boxing offers a wide range of services centered around combat sports and high-intensity fitness, catering to all levels from complete beginners to experienced fighters.
Services offered include:
Boxing Classes: These one-hour sessions are designed for all skill levels. They combine technique work with cardio and strength training. Participants learn footwork, combinations, and bag work, with instructors providing personalized feedback. Equipment, including boxing gloves and wraps, is provided.
Muay Thai/Kickboxing: Led by expert instructors, these classes focus on "the art of eight limbs," incorporating kicks, elbows, and knees into a dynamic workout. Participants engage in partner drills, HIIT, and bag work to improve both offensive and defensive skills. This program is suitable for all levels and is noted for its high-energy environment.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ): The gym offers BJJ classes that emphasize grappling, holds, and submissions. The program provides a thorough introduction to this martial art and is great for those who want to expand their combat skills. Instructors focus on technique over strength, making it accessible to a variety of body types and fitness levels.
Other Fitness Classes: Urban Boxing also offers classes that complement its core martial arts offerings, such as a wrestling class and yoga designed specifically for boxers. These sessions help improve a participant's strength, flexibility, and overall athletic performance.
All classes are designed to be a complete workout, ensuring that members build both a strong body and a disciplined mind. The variety of classes means that members can constantly challenge themselves with new disciplines.

This "family" feel, as described by a customer, makes the workouts more enjoyable and helps with accountability and motivation. It’s a place where you'll find great partners to spar and roll with.

For residents of Washington, D.C., choosing a gym can be about more than just equipment; it's about finding a place that supports your journey. Urban Boxing is worth choosing for several compelling reasons. First and foremost is the quality of instruction. The trainers are not just good at what they do, but they are also invested in the success of their clients. This personalized attention within a group setting is a huge advantage, as it provides both expert guidance and the motivation that comes from training with others.
Second, the gym's unique blend of combat sports and fitness classes offers a superior and more engaging alternative to a traditional gym. Instead of aimlessly running on a treadmill, you'll learn valuable self-defense skills while getting a high-energy, full-body workout. This dual benefit—of learning a skill and getting fit—is a powerful motivator that keeps members coming back. As one customer noted, the training sessions are "amazing" and leave you feeling challenged and accomplished.
Finally, the strong community and welcoming environment make all the difference. For those new to boxing or martial arts, the intimidation factor can be high, but the reviews from customers who were "received as one of the family" highlight a gym culture that is supportive and inclusive. This is a place where you can make friends, find training partners, and push your limits in a safe and encouraging space. In a city like D.C., finding a gym that feels like home is a rare and valuable thing, and Urban Boxing provides just that.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! I was in DC for a week, and started looking for an option for a boxing work out. I found Urban Boxing, and they received me as one of the family. The training sessions were amazing, excellent instructors, and facilities. I will definitely return the next time that I’m in town.
August 14 · Martin RodriguezI love the jiu jitsu and muay thai/kickboxing classes. Lots of good partners to spar/roll with from a range of skill levels, and Mike (both of them) is an amazing instructor. The boxing is also top notch as well, and the new wrestling class is super fun and informative.
April 08 · Zachary ZinoberI started to learn boxing at here since June, 2023, almost 2 years and I need to leave due to relocation. I’ll miss here, the coach team is professional and the people are friendly. A great place for amateurs, professionals or just some exercise to keep you healthy and make new friends!
March 15 · Tianyu DingI have trained at this gym since 2020! I will never stop recommending it. Boxing classes and the people are awesome. The BJJ team is amazing and my favorite is the new addition of WRESTLING! Gideon is one of the best coaches and he makes sure everyone understands the complex mechanics and rules of wrestling. I highly recommend trying any of the coaches classes (Arturo, Mike, Brandon, Josh, Agatha, Alison, Sula, Randolph, Germaine) . Specially, I encourage everyone that always wanted to try martial arts but never felt comfortable or safe to do it. This place is the best!
April 07 · Vanessa Ribeiro RevolloTHE BESTWhen I moved to DC I was desperately looking for a serious, professional boxing/kickboxing gym. I tried out a bunch of places in the area and was SO disappointed - most were just cardio fitness “boxe”, no technique, no actual boxing, nobody interested in teaching you anything. At Urban Boxing you’ll find a fantastic, professional yet homie environment. People are motivated to grow and progress as fighters, teachers actually teach, they know what they are doing and take the time to help you improve. Classes have different levels, whether you are completely new to boxing or already quite advanced/used to sparring you’ll be in good hands!!I ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND!!
