★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Where to begin? Rec instructors are very young, most are poorly trained, and, for the most part, absolutely NOT qualified to coach. To make matters worse, coaches assigned to a specific class change constantly; every week there is a new coach! In less than a month, my child went through at least 3 or 4 coaches, whose names she couldn’t even remember. Theoretically (at least in my “ideal” world) the same coach should work with the same group of gymnasts on a regular basis to identify their strengths, weaknesses, and strategies for improvement over time. When there is a new coach every week, the kids get stressed and upset, and this interferes with relationship-building and trust, and ruins what should have been a positive practice experience for the children. This, however, pales in comparison to my next observation: the building managers (Cindy being an exception) are not just unfriendly - they are blatantly rude and disrespectful towards the customers. TG1 Manager Jen L. always, without fail, looks angry, annoyed, and in a bad mood. She’s not friendly, she’s not helpful, she’s not particularly good with the kids, and she’s outright dismissive with the adults. I find this type of behavior unacceptable and very disappointing.Having been involved with TG for many years, I personally feel that it has always been a revolving door, with people coming and going, since Toby and TG Staff just don’t care enough to try to stop them. Customer loyalty and retention are, unfortunately, not the concepts the TG management preoccupies itself with. Troy Gym is not a magical place with beautiful memories and fun gymnastics classes. It’s a place where you and your kids are not valued, not appreciated, and not wanted. So, do yourself a favor, and don’t enter the revolving door. We’ve already exited and will not look back.
August 28 · Tri FectaThis review is for their open gym/ropes, available to those over 48”. My kids, ages 7 and 10, had a blast. We visited over the 2024 Christmas Break. It’s $15 for open gym, and another $10 for ropes. They charge $5 for registration for those who don’t live in the area. Ropes only go for 30 minutes at a time. Additional sessions are another $10. I still think it’s a fair price given the structure, staff, etc. Everyone I interacted with was super nice, from the initial phone call, to the front desk, to the girls managing the ropes. Our total for the day, including registration, all-day open play, and two sessions of ropes, was $80. They were good and tired when we left. :)
December 26 · Amy StoddardI had an extremely disappointing experience with Troy Gym. When I initially signed up, I was assured that if we chose not to attend, we would receive a refund. However, after deciding not to move forward with their services and canceling, I was suddenly told that refunds are not given. This is completely unacceptable and misleading. Not only was the lack of transparency frustrating, but their unwillingness to honor their original statement shows a lack of integrity. Parents rely on honesty and trust when choosing childcare, and unfortunately, this place has proven to be unreliable. I would not recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy and professional service.
March 20 · KC JamardovI've brought my daughter here for a few years for open gym, which has always been something we/she enjoyed. Decided tonight to bring her to a kid's late night event (still here actually) and it's a complete shit show. So unorganized, chaotic, and I was surprised once I realized I'm the only parent here out of roughly 50 kids, maybe more. It was $30 w/Zipline access and I had to pull her out of the group she was in because they had absolutely no idea what their schedule was and started to seem like they weren't even headed to the Zipline. Probably the only thing my kid was really looking forward to. There's what seems like young teenagers watching each group of maybe 20 kids, and they are struggling to keep control of much of anything. I'll be happy to bring my kid back for open gym but I suggest avoiding anything other than that or a specialized class for specific purposes. Although after seeing how this has gone I'm not even sure I'd want her involved in that. Absolutely wouldn't leave my kid here alone on a night like this. Maybe the next event could actually have some structure or people in charge that aren't 14?
February 08 · Brad FWe went to the open gym for the very first time this winter. I have two littles, one and three year old. My older had the time of his life. Everything to climb jump slide crawl. He loved the little tunnels and the huge slide and the foam pit. The chaos was probably a little too overstimulating for my younger but he still had a good time. You have to be present and embrace the chaos. I was by myself and I could trust that my older would not do dangerous things while I followed my younger, but that may not be the case if you have kids who don’t have a healthy sense of self-preservation. I do wish there was more weekend open gym time specifically for littles.
