The programming is designed with intention, led by nationally certified coaches who are passionate about what they do. Owner Megan Fessler-McCarthy, a former Division 1 athlete, has created a space where "strength is measured not just in pounds lifted or miles run, but in community, in courage, in showing up on the hard days." This is a fitness center for "all faces, all paces," where the workout can be adapted to any fitness level. The encouraging and supportive atmosphere is a major highlight for members, who often mention the "immaculate vibes" and the powerful feeling of accomplishing their goals with others. Tread House offers a specialized and highly effective approach to fitness, focusing on a blend of cardio and strength training in a class-based format.
Strength Training and Cardio Classes: The core of the Tread House experience is their signature workout format. This consists of a high-energy class that is typically divided into sections, with a portion dedicated to cardio on Woodway treadmills and the remainder focused on strength training using free weights and other equipment. The workouts are challenging but designed to be scalable, so you can go at your own pace and dictate your own intensity based on how you feel in the moment.
Personal Training: For those seeking a more individualized approach, Tread House offers personal training. These sessions provide one-on-one guidance from certified coaches who can help you refine your form, set and achieve specific goals, and create a tailored plan to maximize your results.
Yoga Classes: In addition to its high-intensity classes, the studio offers yoga sessions. These classes are perfect for improving flexibility, balance, and mind-body connection. They are a great complement to the high-impact cardio and strength training workouts, aiding in recovery and overall wellness.
Online Classes: To provide flexibility for members, Tread House also offers online classes. This allows you to get a great workout in the comfort of your own home, making it a perfect option for busy days, travel, or for those who prefer to exercise remotely.
Tread House is celebrated by its members for its unique atmosphere and high-quality offerings that go beyond a typical gym experience.
Vibrant Community and Vibe: The most consistently praised feature is the gym's community. Reviews describe the atmosphere as "hard to beat" with "immaculate vibes" and an "incredibly welcoming" community. This strong sense of belonging is fostered by the passionate coaches and friendly members, making workouts feel more like a shared journey than a solitary task.
Passionate and Knowledgeable Coaches: The trainers at Tread House are highly regarded for their expertise and enthusiasm. As one member put it, you can "tell that the trainers are passionate about helping you succeed." They are known for providing constant motivation and encouragement, making every workout a positive experience.
Locally-Owned Gem: Members are proud to support a locally-owned business. The owner, Megan Fessler-McCarthy, is praised for her leadership and is seen as an active and inspiring part of the community. This local connection gives the gym a personal touch that larger, corporate chains often lack.
Challenging and Fun Workouts: The workout format is a major highlight. The blend of treadmill work and strength training is described as both "challenging and fun," keeping routines fresh and engaging. This variety ensures that members never get bored and are always working toward their goals in an exciting way.
Thoughtful Amenities: The studio provides convenient amenities like Wi-Fi and gender-neutral restrooms. They also have showers, lockers, and a water bottle filling station. They even sell products like protein shakes, cold-pressed juice, and coffee, ensuring you have everything you need for a pre- or post-workout boost.
For those in the Pennsylvania region, particularly in and around Lancaster, Tread House offers a truly exceptional fitness experience that goes far beyond the typical gym model. What makes it a top choice is its ability to combine a highly effective, science-backed workout with an unparalleled sense of community and support. The testimonials from real customers are a powerful reflection of this. The reviews consistently praise the "amazing programming" and the "atmosphere that's hard to beat." For a city where community is so important, a gym that feels like a family is a significant draw.
The unique workout format, which combines cardio and strength training in a structured class, is another major selling point. As one member stated, they "love the workout format (1/3 treadmill & 2/3 weights)." This type of programming is not only effective but also engaging, preventing the monotony that can sometimes come with a traditional gym routine. The fact that the coaches are "passionate about helping you succeed" and provide constant motivation is crucial for anyone looking to push their limits and achieve their goals. The support from the coaches, like Megan and others, creates a "no-pressure" environment where you feel motivated, not intimidated.
The gym's identity as a local, women-owned business also resonates with many in the community. By choosing Tread House, members are not just investing in their health, but also in a small business that genuinely cares about its members. The positive feedback, the strong community vibe, and the challenging yet fun workouts all make Tread House a destination worth seeking out. For a place where you can sweat, laugh, make friends, and achieve your fitness goals in a genuinely supportive environment, there's no better choice in Lancaster. It's a place where you can truly "feel right at home."

March 03 · Katherine FryI LOVE TREADHOUSE! I found TreadHouse when looking for a gym to get my body prepped and ready for some backpacking & hiking out west this summer. I’m 12 classes in and I love the coaches, the work out format (1/3 treadmill & 2/3 weights), the people & the tunes! I can’t recommend this gym enough. Megan - the owner- is AMAZING!
April 16 · Lee AnnI’ve been going TreadHouse for about 2 months now. I started going in order to push myself in the weightlifting department. I’m a marathon runner looking to Boston Qualify and TreadHouse has seriously made me not absolutely despise lifting. Also, they’re one of the only gyms in Lancaster city that has classes early enough for me to go before work. Everyone is very friendly and I love that they make teams for races all over PA!
June 09 · Naomi MyersTreadhouse has truly become my second home! I’ve been coming here for almost two years, and I can’t imagine being anywhere else. The coaches—JoEllyn, Megan, Mark, and Jennifer—are absolutely amazing! They’re not only knowledgeable but also incredibly friendly, patient, and kind. They genuinely care about each person’s journey and make every workout feel both challenging and rewarding. One of the things I love most is how they celebrate your milestones every 50 classes, making you feel accomplished and seen. The energy here is unbeatable—there’s nothing like fist-bumping my gym mates between every round, feeling that shared motivation and camaraderie.Beyond just fitness, Treadhouse has helped me tremendously with my mental and physical health. I even celebrate my birthday with my crew here because this place isn’t just a gym—it’s my family. If you’re looking for a place where you feel a true sense of belonging, this is it!
