The classes I’ve taken have been fine. But the owner/space has held at least one political fundraiser. “Yoga” means “yoke” or Union. Yoga specifically rejects notions of duality, which of course is what politics is all about. That fundraiser eroded my trust in the studio and its leadership. I go to community yoga spaces to escape politics and division, not be reminded of it. - Dani Z

The Breathe Building offers a variety of services designed to meet different wellness goals. Their core offerings include fitness center access and a diverse schedule of yoga classes. As a fitness center, it provides the equipment and space needed for a comprehensive workout. Users can engage in strength training, cardio exercises, and other physical activities to build and maintain their health. The equipment is kept in good condition, providing a reliable resource for regular gym-goers.

In addition to the fitness center, the yoga studio is a major draw. It offers a range of yoga styles and classes, catering to practitioners of all levels, from beginners to advanced. These classes provide an opportunity for users to improve flexibility, strength, and mental clarity in a structured and supportive environment. The instructors are experienced and dedicated to guiding students through their practice, helping them connect mind and body. The serene atmosphere of the studio is conducive to a focused and meditative experience, which is a key component of yoga.

The availability of event space means that the building contributes to the local community in more ways than just fitness and wellness, serving as a versatile location for special occasions and community functions.

The Breathe Building has several features and highlights that set it apart. A notable feature is the provision of gender-neutral restrooms, in addition to standard restrooms. This amenity is designed to create a more inclusive environment for all guests. The facility also accepts a variety of payment methods, including credit cards and debit cards, making transactions convenient for members and visitors. This flexibility in payment options is a small but important detail that enhances the user experience.

The community-focused approach of The Breathe Building is another highlight. While the facility is committed to providing a welcoming space, this aspect has also been a subject of discussion among community members. Some customers have expressed concerns about the facility's policies and management decisions. One review mentioned a political fundraiser being held on the premises, which some individuals felt was inappropriate for a space dedicated to yoga and community. Another review highlighted a policy regarding changing areas, where a customer expressed discomfort with the facility's approach to gender-neutral spaces, feeling that it compromised the privacy and safety of women and girls. These reviews point to ongoing conversations within the community about balancing inclusivity with individual comfort and expectations. The facility's management has a stated policy to accommodate all guests, and for those who are uncomfortable, they have offered a single private restroom upstairs for use. However, some customers have voiced their opinion that this policy is inadequate and puts the burden on women to seek out an alternative space.

These varied perspectives are part of the ongoing dialogue about creating truly safe and inclusive spaces, and potential visitors should be aware of this community conversation. The Breathe Building's management appears to be navigating these issues with a focus on their stated commitment to inclusivity, but it is clear that some customers feel their specific concerns about privacy and safety have not been fully addressed. This ongoing conversation is part of what defines the building's place in the Portland community and is something prospective members may wish to consider.

For more information, The Breathe Building can be reached at their address: 2305 SE 50th Ave, Portland, OR 97215, USA. While a phone number is not publicly listed, visitors can find more details about classes and event schedules on their official website or social media pages.
