This isn't just another gym; it's a fitness center and personal training hub focused on providing a comprehensive physical fitness program designed to get real, lasting results. The team at System of Strength is committed to creating a high-energy, supportive environment that challenges you while keeping you engaged. Many local "SOSers" have found their long-term fitness home here, praising the community and the effectiveness of the specialized classes. Whether you're a seasoned athlete or just starting to incorporate exercise into your routine, this facility offers a structured, motivating approach to fitness that goes beyond what you might find at a traditional gym. The ethos here is about consistency and a well-rounded program, which is why so many people have found it to be a game-changer for their personal wellness goals. The blend of professional instruction and a supportive community makes it an appealing option for anyone in the Columbus area looking to make a serious commitment to their health.
System of Strength is conveniently located at 3560 N High St, Columbus, OH 43214, USA, placing it squarely in the vibrant and easily accessible Clintonville neighborhood. This location is a plus for many Columbus residents, as it's situated on a main thoroughfare with easy access to various parts of the city. For those concerned about accessibility, the facility has made deliberate efforts to be welcoming to all. It features a wheelchair accessible entrance and a wheelchair accessible parking lot, ensuring that individuals with mobility challenges can navigate the space with ease. While the Clintonville area is a bustling part of town, the specific location on North High Street makes it a prime spot for a quick workout before or after work, or as part of a weekend routine. The studio's central location is one of the reasons it has become such a staple for so many people in the area. The ability to park easily and access the building without hassle is a definite benefit for anyone looking to make their fitness routine as seamless as possible.
System of Strength is not your typical one-size-fits-all gym. Instead, it offers a carefully curated selection of services designed to provide a well-rounded and effective workout program. The primary services offered are:
- Fitness center: The core of the business, offering specialized group fitness classes that combine different elements of training.
- Gym: While the focus is on classes, the facility functions as a comprehensive gym environment, with all the necessary equipment for a full workout. Aerobics and other cardio-based sessions are a key part of the program.
- Personal trainer: While the classes have a group focus, the instructors act as de facto personal trainers, providing guidance and motivation to ensure you get the most out of every session.
- Physical fitness program: The entire business is built around a "system" of classes that, when combined, create a complete and effective physical fitness program. The classes are designed to complement one another, addressing different aspects of fitness.
A few key classes are central to the System of Strength experience:
- Clocked Cardio: These high-intensity classes are designed to get your heart rate up and burn calories. A marathon runner-turned-advocate for the studio notes that these are among her favorites, highlighting their effectiveness.
- Control Strength: This service focuses on building muscle and improving endurance through controlled movements and strength training. This is a crucial component of the "system" and a key to getting the toned results many users seek.
- Recovery and Strength: A class type that emphasizes both muscle building and the equally important aspect of recovery, ensuring a balanced and safe fitness routine.
Several features and highlights make System of Strength a unique and valuable choice for locals. These points often come up in conversations and reviews from dedicated members:
- Wheelchair accessible facilities: The commitment to accessibility with a wheelchair accessible entrance and parking lot makes it a welcoming space for a wider range of the community.
- Restroom: Basic, but essential amenities are available for a comfortable visit.
- Credit and Debit Card Payments: The convenience of modern payment methods makes transactions smooth and easy.
- Effective System: The studio's structured program, which encourages members to incorporate all types of classes (cardio and strength), is praised for delivering visible results, such as the "chiseled arms" one user noted after consistently taking High & Tight classes.
- Digital Studio: For those who can't always make it to the physical location, the "Digital Studio" is a massive highlight. It provides a vast library of online classes, allowing members to continue their workouts from anywhere, a feature that proved invaluable during the pandemic and has since become a core part of the business.
- Highly Engaged Community: Reviews consistently mention the supportive and unpretentious clientele and the enthusiastic, competent instruction. The community feels like a family, with the owner and trainers going out of their way to connect with and support members, even those they haven't met in person.
- Variety of Instructors: The team of trainers is noted for being welcoming and having a variety of styles, ensuring you can find an instructor you connect with.

So, why is System of Strength a worthwhile choice for people in the Ohio region? It stands out for its unique, results-oriented program and its powerful sense of community. The reviews from long-time members speak volumes about its impact. One dedicated member, a marathon runner who initially found the workouts "intimidating," became a "mega-fan" after realizing the importance of strength training. She highlights how the studio's "Digital Studio" became a crucial part of her routine, even after moving out of state. Her story, including the incredibly thoughtful gesture from the owner, Gretchen, who sent a wedding gift to a member she had never met in person, shows the deep level of care and personal connection that defines this place. This type of community support is rare and invaluable. While one review notes that the system may not be for everyone, particularly those with different fitness goals or those who prefer a less intense, more traditional gym setting, the consensus is clear: for those who embrace the "system" of complementary classes, the results are undeniable. The high-rep, high-intensity workouts are particularly popular with a younger professional crowd, but the inclusive environment means anyone willing to put in the work can find a home here. This fitness center is an investment in a structured program and a supportive community, and for many, that combination is exactly what they need to achieve the best version of themselves.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I have been an SOSer for 5 years now. Which makes it shocking that I'm just now getting around to writing review, especially since I'm such a mega-fan! I first heard about SOS from coworkers. To be honest, I was a little intimidated when I'd see these folks post about their workouts on social media. I had thought about trying it circa 2017, but was too intimidated (my loss!). But in 2019, I ended up with a stress fracture while marathon training. I was able to barely finish my training for the NYC Marathon, which I did successfully complete in November 2019. But at that point, it was evident that I couldn't just keep running marathons without incorporating strength training into my routine. So in Christmas Week 2019, I started with the 7 class starter pack just to try it out.My first class was The Course with Kelsey. I felt comfortable because I knew Kelsey from work and luckily a few other co-workers happened to be in the class as well. I still remember during the warm up, I was thinking "dang this is tough!" But by the time my 7 class pass was up, I was hooked and became a monthly member.I even joined Team Tread (their half & full marathon training program) in January to start training for the Nashville Half in April 2020. Unfortunately for me, my SOS morning routines were abruptly halted in March 2020. But luckily, my team tread registration got me into the "digital studio" which I had no idea what it was at the time. I very quickly uncovered that it's all the same studio instructors and they have recorded classes with new uploads almost daily as well as a huge library of online classes (which as you can imagine has only grown in the past 5 years). I did what everyone else was doing and immediately ordered as many dumbbells, resistance bands, and other equipment to build up a "home SOS studio" and my equipment has been growing ever since.I moved to Arizona in summer 2021, and have continued to be a dedicated Digital Studio user and advocate. Whenever I come home to Ohio (whether Cbus or Cincy), I get giddy at the thought of going to classes in person and it's a treat to choose which classes I'll take and with which instructors.I got married in June 2024 and I purchased the "Badass Bride" classes on the Digital Studio. As I was taking them and leaving comments the owner, Gretchen, messaged me and said she wanted to send me an SOS wedding gift. You'd never believe how touched I was to see a SOS tank, hoodie, sweat towel and t-shirt show up the week of my wedding. I'm still so honored by these thoughtful gifts. Someone I've never even met in person (which is hard to believe given how obsessed I am with SOS lol!) went out of their way to make my wedding week all the more special.I can honestly say SOS Digital Studio has helped me get in the best shape of my life. I feel like I personally know all of the trainers (I don't have social media anymore, but when I did, I followed all of them, so again, felt like I kew them personally). When I was in Hawaii for my wedding, SO many people were asking me about my arms and complimenting me. I kept trying to tell them about the DS and how special SOS is. I will always be a dedicated and loyal fan. It's become such a part of my routine that I'm on Christas Break now with my husband in Kansas (where he's from) and I've brought my ankle weights, light weights and loop bands just so I can get some classes in. Thank you, Gretchen and team for helping me be the best version of myself every day! Can't imagine what I'd do without the DS and my SOS training crew!(Only word of advice to newbies- the System DOES work! Don't skip out on any classes. As you can imagine, being a marathon runner, I favored all of the cardio classes. But it wasn't until I really started incorporating High & Tight as I prepared for my wedding that I noticed the chiseled arms that I'd always wanted. It's a well rounded program that gets results as long as you incorporate all the classes in the system.
January 12 · Chelsea EspositoAs with Jamie who also posted a three star, I felt this atmosphere in the Clintonville SOS was conducive to competent, enthusiastic instruction and surprisingly unpretentious clientele. It simply is not gauged to my fitness goals and metabolic profile. I am interested in maintaining muscle and bone mass and keeping my weight on an even keel. This system does neither. It is all about tone and high-rep, intense cardio and light weights. Classes are often so overbooked I was not even able to schedule the “Ebb and Flow” to check it out on an introductory package. It seems designed almost purely for late 20’s 30’s and early 40’s professionals. The intensity increased my hunger and had me gaining significant weight in a fairly short time. SOS needs to do a profile on people’s fitness goals and be real about it. There is almost no help on that as in a regular gym. Summarized, I would call it well-run but too narrow for a wide swathe of people. It’s expensive too. I only pay 30 dollars for the locally owned Columbus Sports Connection a mile away and they have yoga, fitness, and indoor bike classes that don’t fill up. I am glad I tried SOS but it has proven itself incompatible with my fitness goals.
December 27 · Citizen ZeusHigh & Tight. First class! Great class & burn! Class could be done either barefoot, in (grippy) socks or sneakers on your yoga mat (or a loaner). I'd bring both socks and sneakers just in case. Light weights, 3lb or 5lb, with lots of slow repetitions. Loved it! Next time, I'll bring my knee pad as a few exercises we're done on 1 or both knees, ex. donkey kicks, cat/cow. Definitely bring a towel, you'll be sweating.
June 05 · joi gSOS offers a variety of classes that all give you a great workout in a great atmosphere. Classes are welcoming to everyone, even if you have never been before. On my first visit I never felt uncomfortable or that because I was new I wouldn't know what to do or people would be staring at me. Just the opposite. Instructors offer support and guidance through every class. The studio is clean and filled with a positive energy. Highly recommend!!
March 31 · Crissie WinnerI absolutely LOVE System of Strength! Both their in-person and Digital Studio classes are amazing in both quality and value. The coaches are always on point in their instruction, personable, and extremely motivating. The classes are diverse, well-run, and effectively structured, and they are constantly adding more. SOS is the best fitness studio in the area, bar none — I’d highly recommend it to anyone!
