★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My 12 year old son wanted a Boxing birthday party, so when I saw Sweets Boxing at the Factory, I had to call and get details and knew right away they were the one we would go with. They offer kids and adult classes and were so great with the kids! We ended up having about 7 kids attend the hour class and went out for icecream and pizza afterwards. The class was very thorough; however easy to follow for a first timer. We will definitely be back for some more classes.
June 02 · Briana CaldwellI joined Sweets Boxing back in January 2025 and have been training consistently since then. The really cool thing about Sweets is that it is a legit boxing gym but you can get whatever you want out of it. If you want to box for fitness/cardio (and it is EXCELLENT cardio), cool, you can do that. And you can do that learning actual boxing techniques from skilled and knowledgeable coaches! On the other hand, if you have the desire or intent to compete, as I do, you can do that as well. The coaches will guide you and help you to progress. More importantly, they will be honest with you and do their best to make sure you you don't do things that get you in trouble (physically) or that you move too fast and try to do things that you just don't have the skills to do. In short, they will do their best to help you to keep yourself safe. The most important thing is to communicate with them so they know your goals. Finally, the gym schedule is awesome and there are enough classes to fit almost any schedule. The group classes are great but if you are serious about competing, they have semi-private classes (max 6 people) and private classes that will allow you to build skills and improve weaknesses on more of a one on one basis.I have the "Private" membership that allows me to do as many group classes as I want in a month, up to two semi-private classes per week, and up to four private sessions per month. IMO, if you want to compete, or if you just really want to build your skills quickly, this is the way to go and it is a bargain even at their regular price. As you can tell, I am a huge fan of this gym and am very happy that I found it.
September 03 · Ben BrownMy 11-year-old son started attending this boxing studio about a month ago, and I can honestly say it’s been a game-changer for him. From day one, the coaches have been incredibly kind, patient, and dedicated. They don’t just run you through the motions—they take the time to really teach the fundamentals, from proper footwork to the discipline it takes to throw a good punch. What I appreciate most is how they’ve created an environment where my son feels both supported and challenged. He’s engaged, motivated, and absolutely in love with the sport now. It’s not just a great workout, it’s building his confidence, focus, and respect for the process. If you’re looking for a place that truly invests in you and teaches you the right way, this is it. We’re so grateful to have found it, and I know my son is excited to continue for a long time.
May 28 · Kathleen EavesLucas “Sweets” Tanthorey is a local legend in both the skateboarding and boxing worlds, who has a ton of experience in training, coaching, and physical health. He’s figured out a way to bring his unique background / talents into a boxing program (technique + fitness) that’s doable for everyone. No matter the age / skill level, Lucas keeps things fun while pushing you to the limit, which results in personal growth and a great workout. Looking forward to training at the new gym ASAP
May 20 · Stoak CityI had a great experience at Sweets Boxing Gym in Wake Forest, especially as a first-timer. The trainer was supportive and made the class accessible, teaching fundamentals while creating a welcoming environment. The gym is clean, well-organized, and clearly well-run. I learned a lot in my first session and will definitely be returning. Highly recommend for anyone new to boxing or just looking to get fit.
