When considering a yoga studio in a city as diverse and saturated with options as New York, SOLID GOLD YOGI stands out for several compelling reasons. At its heart, it is a space that offers much more than a typical workout. It provides a unique, holistic experience rooted in the arts and community. The fact that it is a women-owned business adds to its unique character, fostering a supportive and empowering environment that many people actively seek out.
One of the most notable aspects of SOLID GOLD YOGI is its blend of traditional and alternative wellness practices. While you can find a solid schedule of Vinyasa and Restorative classes, the studio also offers specialized services like sound healing, reiki, and breathwork. This multi-faceted approach to well-being appeals to New Yorkers who are interested in a deeper, more mindful practice that goes beyond physical fitness alone. The art space and creative workshops provide a rare opportunity to connect with a community that values self-expression and creative exploration alongside physical health. This is a crucial distinction that helps it appeal to the artistic and free-spirited residents of Brooklyn.
While some past experiences, as noted in a review, may have had issues, it’s important to note that the positive feedback often highlights the studio’s overall “vibe.” The general consensus from the community is that the space feels deeply "ingrained with the vibe of that neighborhood," and is known for its "rustic and vintage feel while still being modern." This atmosphere creates a peaceful and welcoming aura that is conducive to deep practice and relaxation. The availability of small class sizes, as mentioned by a client, can also be a significant advantage, allowing for more personalized attention from instructors and a less intimidating environment for beginners. The convenience of online classes is another major draw, providing flexibility for those with busy schedules or for anyone who prefers to practice from the comfort of their home.
In a city that never stops, SOLID GOLD YOGI offers a much-needed pause. It is a place to not only strengthen your body but to quiet your mind, find creative inspiration, and connect with a like-minded community. It is a destination for those who see wellness as a journey of both physical and spiritual growth, and who value a business that is not only professional but also deeply rooted in its local culture and values.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I went with a class pass in 2019. It was my first time doing yoga after a long time after a shoulder injury. The class was small. I had a hard time with certain positions. I briefly let the instructor know that my shoulder had some limitations when she acknowledged me. At the end of the class, in front of the few others, I was rudely asked if I was pregnant, and questioned about my injury. Really turned me off and honestly left a bit traumatized, especially being surrounded by white women as a POC, felt really unwelcome and would not recommend.
February 18 · YasminLove this place. It is right in the mix of Bushwick Brooklyn and feels very ingrained with the vibe of that neighborhood. The space is rustic and has a vintage feel while still being modern. There are many yogic events outside of yoga itself (singing bowls/workshops). You will end up taking a good class and can get a good bite to eat before your next stop
October 25 · Nicholas “Quazzy” HerdLove this yoga studio and a range of classes! The instructors are great, Leslie is amazing!
April 29 · Erica HudsonSolid Gold is such a treasure—I’m so grateful for this wonderful neighborhood studio. Leslie is an amazing instructor and calming presence. The classes are the perfect mix of breath and movement-focused, and I especially love when Leslie reads short, insightful excerpts from books aloud during the closing rest period. I always leave class refreshed and with new perspective. My husband and I have been attending remote Zoom classes throughout the pandemic and they’ve been so crucial during this hard time.
April 10 · Marisa CrawfordFavourite studio ! Leslie (the owner) is incredible gifted, kind and makes you feel part of a family. The studio has the gorgeous green ceiling tiles authentic to the building, and a small backyard for yoga under the stars in the warmer months.
