Situated in the heart of Venice, a quintessential hub for wellness and mindful living in Southern California, shefayoga Venice is more than just a yoga studio; it is a sprawling sanctuary dedicated to personal growth, healing, and community. The very name "shefa" carries deep meaning, translating to abundance in Hebrew, healing in Arabic, and signifying divine light and flow—a philosophy the studio strives to embody daily. This is a space where the diverse, health-conscious community of Los Angeles, from local residents to visiting practitioners, can access authentic yoga teachings.
shefayoga Venice offers an expansive facility with multiple dedicated studios, catering to a wide array of preferences by providing both heated and unheated practice rooms. Beyond regular group lessons, the studio serves as a major training ground, hosting comprehensive Yoga Teacher Trainings and specialized workshops, cementing its status as a serious destination for those looking to deepen their practice or become instructors themselves in the California yoga scene. The guiding vision, led by the owner, is deeply rooted in cultivating a welcoming community and a culture of acceptance and authenticity.

September 22 · Geoff MitchellI’ve been a loyal member of this studio for over two years and have always deeply appreciated the yogis and instructors, some are truly wonderful, present, and create a meaningful class experience.Unfortunately, that spirit does not extend to the front desk or membership management. I recently came in to take a class, having already paid for the month , and was met with coldness, inflexibility, and a complete disregard for my history as a long-time member. Despite clear communication that I had requested to cancel my membership after May, I was told it was already canceled and that I would need to pay $33 to attend a class I had assumed was included in the time I’d paid for.No effort was made to understand, resolve, or even engage with kindness, just a transactional, dismissive attitude. It was disheartening and completely at odds with the values this studio claims to uphold.Yoga is about care, presence, and community, but in this case, it felt like money was the only priority.I want to be clear that this review is not directed at the teachers, some of whom are truly incredible and bring sincerity, depth, and care to their classes. My frustration lies with the studio’s handling of memberships and the lack of empathy shown at the front desk.Rather than being treated as a valued member of a community, something yoga studios often pride themselves on, I was met with indifference and rigidity. It felt transactional, not communal. And that’s what hurts the most: the contradiction between the values spoken inside the studio and the way people are actually treated.I’ve never felt compelled to write a negative review about a yoga studio before, but this experience left me genuinely disheartened.
May 07 · Alina Amiriit's 2 months now,, beginning with Restorative after a long break, and I am so impressed with the teachers, the facility, the hands-on owner/teacher I cannot praise this studio enough. The variety and number of classes available make it easy to fit one into your day. Best studio around
August 19 · Artie TD SimonThis place is cult-y, if you’re into that, you’ve found a home. My problem isn’t that, it is the elitism with which this place is run.If you’re new, you are encouraged to try out different classes, but advanced ones are protectively reserved for pros, which their instructors intimate by giving little to no instructions during the classes.Bit of an annoyance if you’re pro level, confusing and frustrating if you’re intermediate, and really actively discouraging if you’re new. Just a shitty class experience.Active discouragement like this would be normal in a basketball court or a ballet studio but this is yoga - support is ingrained. And if you’re going to act culty, at least carryover the supportive element along with the collective elitism.I’ve been a teacher for five years, done athletic yoga in a lot of studios, and this one was all negative. I tried giving feedback and checking my understanding both in person and in email, both times met with condescension and judgment. Great. Cool. Whatever.Just feel valid if you get weird vibes here.
August 04 · Jacqueline KimThis yoga studio has changed my life. I came on a 2 week trial while I was staying in LA in 2023 for work because one of my yoga friends in Denver had recommended it. I was quickly convinced that there was no other place like it, and that the teachers here offered so much. After that work trip I decided that I would move to LA, live in Santa Monica (to be close to the beach and to Shefa) and follow my dreams. I’ve been here 7 months now and I go to Shefa 5-7 days a week, sometimes multiple times a day. My practice has expanded beyond my dreams, both in the physical realm but also very much in the spiritual realms. I am forever grateful for Leah and the rest of the incredible teachers here for being a part of my life, my community, and my ongoing fulfillment- I don’t know what I would do without you!!!!
