For residents of the Bay Area who are seeking a high-intensity, transformative yoga practice, our studio offers a distinct experience that sets it apart from traditional wellness centers. At Ritual Hot Yoga, we specialize in a fast-paced, music-driven hot yoga flow that is designed to be as much of a workout as it is a mindful practice. We believe that yoga can be an exhilarating and challenging experience that pushes your physical limits while still providing the mental and spiritual benefits of a traditional practice. As a women-owned business, we are committed to creating a space that is empowering, energetic, and supportive for everyone in our community.

While this approach may not be for everyone, it is transformative for those who embrace the challenge. We understand that our style is unique, and we are dedicated to helping every student succeed. As evidenced by a customer who had a complete turnaround in their experience, our staff, particularly instructors like Sydney, are willing to provide one-on-one guidance and support to ensure you feel comfortable and empowered. This commitment to personalized attention, even within a group setting, is a core part of our mission. We strive to offer a clean and welcoming space, with a "beautiful studio and a very cozy lounge/locker area" that makes your visit a pleasant one.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I originally left a 2-star review after my first class because it felt unsafe and impossible to follow. The studio actually reached out and invited me back for a complimentary class with Sydney — and wow, what a difference.Sydney gave me about 15 minutes of one-on-one guidance before class, which helped me finally understand the flow and what to expect. During class, she also placed me between two experienced students so I could easily follow along when I felt unsure. The result: I actually enjoyed myself, kept up with the pace, and felt like I was learning instead of just struggling. Sydney is amazing — she turned my experience completely around. I’m updating my rating from 2 stars to 5 stars (with Sydney).Old reviewTold the instructor it was my first class — she stuck me in the dark, across the room, in a yoga session moving faster than a car chase, with pose names that sounded like inside jokes. Spent half the time craning my neck, the other half wondering if I should sign a liability waiver. If you want calm and mindful, skip it. If you want to flirt with injury, welcome home.
September 10 · Reema TrehanI really wanted to like this place, it's a beautiful studio and a very cozy lounge/locker area. However, I have never been to a class with as wacky of transitions between poses as this studio (think one leg staff pose to bird of paradise???). The transitions continued to be weird and uncomfy, and I was just hoping that I was not going to slip on the mat towel and hurt myself. Also - they only have one working shower and it's pretty scummy looking inside and there were no more shower towels left so I had to use one of their provided mat towels for my shower. I'll continue to practice yoga at other studios in town instead
August 01 · Rachael NevsimalI really dislike leaving negative reviews, but after giving this studio 5–6 tries, I’ve noticed it has gone downhill with each visit. To start with the positives: the staff is always incredibly kind, the music is fantastic, and I genuinely appreciate the heated space. That said, sometimes the heat tips over from invigorating to suffocating, which can make it uncomfortable. The main challenges for me are with the transitions, pacing, and overall flow of class. At times, the instructors lose rhythm, which breaks what should feel like a rigorous yet relaxing workout. The room itself is also extremely dark—so much so that it’s difficult to see demonstrations, which makes balance and following along unnecessarily hard.I really want to keep coming back because the studio is so conveniently located, but I’ve found myself going to other neighborhoods simply because the classes are too disjointed to enjoy. It’s not that the workouts are too challenging—it’s that the overall user experience has become frustratingly poor, which makes it hard to commit.
August 21 · J LeeOk, oh boy. Let's start with positives:- The studio space is expansive and well-maintained. There's a nice seating area, coffee bar, restrooms/showers, and lockers (the kind where you set your own code...in other words, you don't need to bring a lock or trade your first-born child to borrow a lock from the front desk).- They provide high-quality (IMO) mats, towels, and props, for FREE. This is a huge plus for me as I travel a lot and don't really like lugging my yoga gear around.- The instructor was sweet and welcoming. He offered a tour of the facility and gave me a brief intro/explanation of the class format. I honestly liked him.- The heat was on point! Now for the less great feedback:- When I first moved to the Bay in 2021, I remember looking up studios I might want to apply to teach at and being immediately turned off by the culty vibe of this place. After taking class there, my initial assessment seems accurate. This an insular community that prides itself on being exclusive and "unlike other yoga studios." They've given their own unique names to numerous postures, and some of their sequencing is truly bizarre. As a seasoned yogi, I had no clue what was going on for about 80% of the class.- Classes are "candle-lit" in an otherwise dark room. Fam, I've taken candle-lit classes before, and there's typically some other form of gentle light in the space so you can actually see yourself and other people in the room. This class was DARK. I genuinely could not see anything except my hand in front of my face.- Which brings me to my biggest issue... the instructor was offering hands-on assists and massages (?) in a pitch black room, without any verbal consent. As someone who has experienced their fair share of sexual harassment and assault, I don't love being touched by a stranger in the dark with no warning. This seems like painfully obvious feedback that I'm shocked the owners hadn't already considered. If you're looking for trauma-informed yoga, this ain't it!!- Lastly, the pace was way too fast. Although I couldn't see much, it didn't seem like anyone in the class was keeping up with the insane pace. Moving too quickly compromises the integrity of the practice and increases risk of injury. It also means the instructor has no time to offer meaningful feedback or adjustments for their students. Not a great combo, though you will certainly break a sweat.TLDR: if you're looking for a Soul Cycle-type experience or want to feel like you're doing yoga at a Hollister in 2004, this is the spot for you! If you'd prefer to feel safe and good in your body and want to receive thoughtful, tailored instruction, look elsewhere.
August 16 · Jennifer EmmettRitual is such a unique hot yoga studio! I've tried many other studios and none are like it. You flow in candlelight (so fun and vibey!) set to upbeat music. The workout is 50 minutes and always challenging yet doable (even to a beginner yogi) since they level out the poses 1-4. They always incorporate at least one inversion and one standing pose in addition to the traditional yoga poses so you really get to work on your practice. At the end of class, right before savasana, they put a cool eucalyptus towel and your face and THE BEST PART, a mini massage! They will also do hands-on adjustments (if you want) during the workout so that you can be in the correct alignment. One of the other amazing things about Ritual is the community - each class is limited to 20-something people so that the teacher can really see everyone and it makes it a great place to know people before- and after- class.Keep an eye out for pop-up events too! The staff gets really creative and they events are so fun. There's also yin yoga (more relaxing with deeper stretches) and sound baths.Ritual is also all-inclusive - in terms of acceptance as well as providing mats and towels and all the things! I highly, highly recommend that you check it out!
