Power Up Training Introduce
For many in the Bay Area, the quest for a gym that goes beyond the standard big-box model is a common one. Finding a place that combines expert coaching, personalized attention, and a truly specialized approach can be a game-changer. In San Mateo, California, a new and exciting option has emerged that is quickly becoming a neighborhood favorite: Power Up Training. This isn't just another fitness center; it's a dedicated hub for strength, power, and performance. Whether you are a competitive athlete looking to enhance your skills or someone new to strength training who feels intimidated by a traditional gym, Power Up Training offers a unique and welcoming environment designed to help you succeed.
The unique selling proposition of Power Up Training lies in its ability to provide a boutique, highly-focused experience. Unlike crowded, impersonal gyms, this facility thrives on small class sizes, often with no more than three people at a time. This allows the coaching team to provide a ton of personal attention, ensuring every member understands proper form and how to safely and confidently use a wide range of equipment. The programming is thoughtfully designed to be challenging but never boring, and clients consistently feel like they are learning something new with every workout. The bright, clean, and inviting space is a perfect setting for this kind of focused training, creating an atmosphere that feels less like a chore and more like a dedicated session with a private coach.
Power Up Training also stands out for its specific appeal to athletes. As one competitive figure skater noted, it is a rare find in the Bay Area for its emphasis on correct placement and detailed instruction. For athletes who are serious about gaining strength, reducing injury, and improving overall performance, the specialized, high-tech equipment and knowledgeable coaching team make this the ideal place to train. It's a gym that understands the unique needs of athletes and provides the tools and expertise required to take their performance to the next level. This specialization, combined with an open door to strength training beginners, makes it a powerful asset to the local fitness community.
Power Up Training is located conveniently at 154 W 25th Ave, San Mateo, CA 94403, USA. This accessible location makes it a great addition to the neighborhood and easy to get to for residents of San Mateo and the surrounding Bay Area. Its presence on a well-known avenue ensures that it is a central and easily findable destination for anyone looking to "level up" their fitness routine.
The accessibility of the location is a significant benefit for both adults and families. For those with children participating in the youth classes, the ease of getting to and from the gym is a major plus. For adults, the central spot means it can be a quick stop on the way to or from work, or a dedicated destination for a powerful workout. The ability to find a gym that offers this level of expertise and convenience in the local neighborhood is a true advantage. The bright and clean space is not only inviting but also well-managed, creating a comfortable environment from the moment you step through the door.
Power Up Training offers a streamlined but highly effective set of services, focusing on quality over quantity. Their offerings are tailored to provide maximum benefit to each individual, whether they are a seasoned pro or a complete novice.
- Group Classes: The core of the gym's offerings are small-group classes. With a focus on high-quality coaching and personalized attention, these classes provide a dynamic and motivating workout. The programming is designed to be well-rounded, challenging, and never boring, ensuring you are always learning and progressing.
- Private Classes: For those who desire a completely one-on-one experience, private classes are available. This is an excellent option for individuals with specific goals, those recovering from an injury, or anyone who wants an even more tailored workout plan.
- Youth Classes: A standout service, the youth classes at Power Up Training are designed to introduce children to the fundamentals of strength and conditioning in a fun and engaging way. The format is similar to the adult classes but incorporates games and playful activities so that "kids don't even realize they're working out." This service is a valuable resource for young athletes and active children in the community.
Each of these services is built upon the foundational principle of expert coaching and a commitment to helping every client achieve their full potential.
Power Up Training is full of unique features and highlights that set it apart from other fitness centers in the Bay Area.
- High-Tech, Athlete-Grade Equipment: The gym is equipped with modern, high-tech equipment specifically designed for athletes. This is a significant highlight, as this type of equipment is not commonly found in other local gyms.
- Personal Attention and Small Class Sizes: The small class sizes (often 3 people or less) are a key feature, allowing coaches to give a "ton of personal attention" to each participant. This ensures proper form, reduces the risk of injury, and accelerates progress.
- Knowledgeable and Experienced Coaching: The coaching team is highly praised for their expertise. They are skilled at teaching proper form, safety, and providing well-thought-out programming that keeps workouts fresh and effective.
- Inclusive Environment: Despite its focus on athletes, the gym is explicitly recommended as a "fantastic adult gym for those new to strength training." This welcoming atmosphere helps beginners feel confident and supported.
- Clean, Bright, and Inviting Space: The physical environment of the gym is described as clean, bright, and inviting. This makes it a pleasant and motivating place to train.
- Effective Youth Programming: The youth classes are a standout feature, as they are cleverly designed to integrate fitness with fun, ensuring kids are engaged and enjoy the process of getting stronger.
These highlights demonstrate a gym that is truly focused on providing a high-quality, personalized, and effective training experience for all of its members.

Power Up Training Reviews
Power Up is an awesome addition to the neighborhood! I’ve tried many group fitness classes in the area, but I wanted to find a place where I can challenge myself and level up.The coaching team here is so knowledgeable and experienced. I get a ton of personal attention (so far I’ve never had more than 3 people in class)! They’ve taught me the proper form for many movements, as well as how to confidently and safely use equipment. The programming is well thought out and never boring. I feel like I’m always learning something new!Youth classes: the format is similar to adult classes, but for the youngest kids they integrate a lot of fun games. My kids don’t even realize they’re working out!The gym is still fairly new, but I’m excited to see more people discover and join this community!
April 29 · Dorothy H.I’m a competitive figure skater and I have never found a gym that really emphasized correct placement and showing each exercise in detail. I was in fact scared of going to gym! This gym helped me to gain so much more strength and power. The gym has very modern and high tech equipment designed for athletes that you will absolutely not find in any other gyms. This is a group class or private class only gym. If you or your child athlete is serious about gaining strength, reducing injury, and improving overall health then this is it! Honestly you will not find any other gym this knowledgeable for athletes. It’s also a fantastic adult gym for those new to strength training. The space is clean, bright, and inviting. I highly recommend this gym!
April 26 · Monica LeeI’ve been taking my 11-year-old daughter to this gym for conditioning during and after her club volleyball season, and it’s been an amazing experience. While the gym itself is small, the atmosphere is very welcoming and personal. The staff is incredibly friendly and always makes us feel at home. The coaches, in particular, are excellent — highly experienced and genuinely nice. They know how to motivate and work well with kids, which is so important for a positive training environment. My daughter really enjoys her classes, and I can see the improvement in her skills and conditioning. Overall, it’s a fantastic place for anyone looking for a supportive and focused environment, especially for young athletes.
May 25 · Lina M MalepeaiMy 11-year-old son recently started training here, and we couldn’t be happier! The coaches are encouraging, knowledgeable, and make fitness fun while still focusing on discipline and proper form. It’s been amazing to see his confidence and strength grow each week. Highly recommend for any parent looking to build a healthy foundation for their kids!
July 12 · Jose A. PenaIt's been probably more than 8 years since I've actually worked out. Popped into PowerUp for the adult "strength and conditioning" class this week since it's close by home and the kiddos have been encouraging me to exercise more. Coach Jayme was great! She knew that I hadn't worked out in a while so eased me in but also challenged me to do more. She also helped to fix my form and I felt like I got a lot of personal attention. I'm usually one who feels embarrassed to go to the gym because I don't know proper form or how to use equipment, but Coach Jayme was very encouraging even when I had to ask her to show me how to do something again for the 3rd time. Our class only had 4 people total and she was able to cater the class to each of our levels. I left the class feeling great and motivated to continue to keep up the exercise! Will be back to take more classes. My kids also took a class and loved it. Rather than whining and complaining (which they usually do when it comes to exercise), they were all smiles during their class even while running back and forth and climbing up and down obstacles. If you're in the area and looking for some personalized attention, would definitely recommend checking out this place!
