The services offered by pDNextSteps are a direct reflection of its specialized focus on the Parkinson's community. They are designed to be comprehensive and adaptable to a wide range of needs and abilities.
Personal Training: This is a cornerstone of the pDNextSteps model. Personal training sessions are tailored to the individual, focusing on specific symptoms and goals. The trainers, like Melissa Carlson, are constantly improving their knowledge through classes and seminars to provide the most effective and up-to-date techniques.
Boot Camps: These small group classes provide a high-energy and motivating environment for members. They are structured to improve strength, balance, and coordination through a variety of exercises that can be adapted to any fitness level.
Online Classes and Workout Videos: Recognizing the need for flexibility and accessibility, pDNextSteps offers online classes and pre-recorded workout videos. This allows members to maintain their exercise routine from the comfort of their homes, which is especially beneficial for those who have difficulty traveling.
Home Workout Series: A specific service that provides members with structured workout plans they can follow at home, ensuring they have the tools to stay active and consistent with their exercise, even on days they can't make it to the gym.
Nutritional Information: The gym also provides nutritional guidance, understanding that diet plays a crucial role in managing symptoms and improving overall health. This holistic approach ensures that members have all the resources they need for a comprehensive wellness plan.
Yoga One-On-One: For a more focused and gentle practice, pDNextSteps offers private yoga sessions. Yoga is an excellent way to improve flexibility, balance, and mental well-being, making it a valuable tool in the fight against Parkinson's symptoms.
Strength Training: A core focus of the gym, strength training is a proven way to help people with Parkinson's improve muscle mass and mobility. The classes are led by knowledgeable instructors and are an important part of the overall program.
pDNextSteps stands out for several compelling reasons, particularly for the Parkinson's community in Ohio.
Specialized Expertise: This is not a general-purpose gym. It is specifically designed and staffed by professionals who have a deep understanding of Parkinson's disease. This expertise allows for a more effective and safe workout regimen that directly addresses the unique challenges faced by members.
Strong, Supportive Community: The gym has fostered a powerful sense of camaraderie. Customers frequently highlight the supportive and friendly atmosphere, noting that they "feel like have been part of the team for ever." This emotional support is just as important as the physical exercise.
Personalized and Adaptable Programs: Every class and session is "scalable" and can be adapted to individual abilities. The focus is on progress, not perfection, allowing members to work at their own pace and celebrate small victories.
Convenient and Accessible: With both on-site and online class options, the gym provides flexibility to members. The physical location is also highly accessible with wheelchair-friendly features, ensuring that physical barriers do not prevent people from seeking the care they need.
Women-Owned Business: As a women-owned business, pDNextSteps brings a unique perspective of care and community to its services. This leadership fosters a welcoming and empowering environment for all.
Appointments are required for all services, ensuring that each client receives the focused attention they deserve. Payments can be made with credit or debit cards.

February 25 · E StambaughWhen I was diagnosed with Parkinson I was a little down, but within 2-months I met Melissa and got on the path to health. When I started I was using a walker and was limited in mobility. A year later after working HARD with Melissa, my symptoms were actually much less than when I was diagnosed & I could not believe the degree of exercise movement I could achieve. She is an incredible therapist, instructor and person. I cannot imagine how I would have gotten to this point without her.She is constantly attending classes & seminars about PD and improving her knowledge & ours.Every day she is up, ready and full of positive energy, a beacon to us all !!!Wesley Law
March 04 · WESLEY LAWI was diagnosed with Parkinson's in early 2018. I was in a very dark place, and was spiraling downward when I found PDNextSteps...and that was a life changing day!I learned how important EXERCISING is, for people with Parkinson's. I've also found a caring, supportive family of new friends, who listen, because they understand where I'm coming from.Melissa's positive attitude is contagious...and her workout sessions are different every day. I've found a new home at PDNextSteps...I'm working out 6 days a week, and I'm in better physical shape than I was in high school!
January 24 · Steve BrandenburgIf you have Parkinson's - diagnosed 20 years ago or 2 months ago - you have to go to PDNextSteps and take Melissa's PD exercise/bootcamp classes. EXERCISE IS KEY to a successful life with PD. Melissa creates her classes to be challenging for those that still can be challenged, but consistently provides modifications for those that have more limitations.Melissa is the most passionate, educated, dedicated and thoughtful instructor - I'm beyond grateful that we crossed paths. She welcomes every PD patient and caregiver; she educates them and gets them moving!!If you have a parent, loved one, friend or sibling with Parkinson's - call PDNextSteps!
