December 18 · Helen Ouimette (Yoga with Helen)management is very poor and unprofessional. I was approached during a set of deadlifts and accused of dropping the bar from my waist repeatedly. When I offered to show the owner the video footage to show I in fact was not doing that, I was turned down and then repeatedly insulted. I was told that CrossFit has no issue putting the weight I was doing down softly, repeatedly told “bro I get it bro, it’s heavy bro, yeah bro” in a very sarcastic tone while being interrupted, and was told I don’t know how to lift to regulation standards. Funny enough I held multiple USPA state powerlifting records so definitely do know how to lift to regulation. I even tried offering ideas on how to make it so this issue would not arise again such as building better deadlift platforms than just have a single horse stall mat over the regular matted gym floor. I was told they could bring more mats up but that never happened. The front gym itself is not kept up well. Have they maintenanced some equipment? Yes. Yet the incline bench stops are worn down to the point the plastic is gone and the bar gets stuck on the bolt where the plastic use to be. The chest supported t bar row handles are ripped and falling off, when reported to the front desk I was told maintenance would look at it. That was October 1st and nothing was done to it. Some adjustable benches held together by red tape on the seats. The hip thrust they purchased that appears to be off of Amazon is bent and so cheap it’s really unusable. One of the smith machines even has a bent bar on it. In the 2 years since new owner ship took over, from what I can tell, they’ve only purchased 3 new bars, the broken hip thrust and put in a strip of turf while also painting the gym. While some of the equipment is more vintage and is great, it’d also be nice to at least have some more newer pieces that haven’t been there since my father was a member back in the worlds gym and golds gym days. It’s completely understandable that things take time but when new equipment is added for CrossFit and they add a brand new addition of pickleball, it definitely paints the picture that the owners don’t care about the front gym members. I voiced this on Instagram simply stating,” You’ve added an entire new aspect to the gym but the front gym still has outdated and broken equipment. Even something’s held together with tape. When will the front gym members be taken care of and not put on the back burner in favor of CrossFit and now pickleball?” I was met with defensiveness, hostility and even pettiness where the owner just had to mention her issue with me deadlifting when it was not at all relevant. I’m told my perception is skewed but I encourage the owner to open her ears and hear what the majority of members are actually saying and also try to view things from my perspective as well. With all of this said, it’s a shame that this is how the gym is. There is a lot of potential considering it’s the largest non commercial gym in the area. They could bring in a lot of members for the front gym if they put the effort in it deserves. But sadly, it doesn’t seem that’ll happen. I’ll also say this, members should not have to bring their own barbells, deadlift jacks, cable attachments, and bands (there is one green rogue band for the front and we aren’t allowed to use the other ones because they’re for CrossFit only). The gym doesn’t need an entire line of Rogue equipment and truthfully there’s great deals on some of the equipment members have purchased themselves on Facebook marketplace. Genuinely, not asking for the place to do a complete 180 and become the premier destination for working out but simply show us you see the front as well. I do hope one day the owner will stop getting frustrated with members for voicing concerns and see that it’s really just a huge opportunity for improvement. I genuinely do not wish to be a member here anymore based on not only these issues but mostly due to how rude and disrespectful the owner can be.Edit: owner responded, no mention of concerns, continues blame shifting and deflecting
December 05 · Brendan RothholzI signed up for use of the sauna. $40 a month. Altogether it cost me $120 . I went once and found that I could not go in saunas according to my Doctor. In order to request a refund I had to go to their request site. I was denied. So I called the fitness center and explained to them. The woman on the phone told me the owner would be out of class in 15 minutes and she would return my call. She never returned my call. I called her twice..don’t understand why I can’t get some kind of refund. I only went once. But for a business woman who won’t even address this nor would she talk to me. I’m a taken back. This is how she does business. Sad. Thumbs down
