When it comes to choosing a training facility in Northwest Indiana, Midwest Training & Ice Center is worth considering for several key reasons. The most compelling evidence comes from the long-term commitment of its members. The family who has been coming for seven years and feels it's their "2nd home" speaks volumes about the positive, nurturing environment. The consistent praise for the coaching staff, who are described as going "above and beyond" for their athletes, underscores the high quality of instruction. The trainers’ commitment to keeping parents "up to date on her goals and progress" shows a genuine investment in each child’s development, which is invaluable for any parent.
Furthermore, the sheer breadth of activities offered under one roof is a huge advantage. Instead of having to shuttle children to different locations for gymnastics, cheer, and ice skating, a family can find all these opportunities at a single, convenient location. The inclusion of a range of programs, from recreational to highly competitive, ensures that athletes can find their place and grow within the same facility as their skills advance. While a negative review about a specific staff member highlights an area for improvement, the overall picture painted by the community is one of a professional, supportive, and dedicated team. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We have been coming to Midwest for 7 years. We are at the rink/gym 5-7 days a week. My child has been figure skating for all that time and we are also on our third year of Allstar cheer with the CEA Midwest team. We love our figure skating coach Stephanie! She goes above and beyond for these skaters. She helps my daughter learn and pushes her use her potential. She usually skates 4 days a week. Our cheer and tumbling coaches Jen, Tawnia, Sam, Jordan, Alicia, VeVe, Johnathon, and Morgan are great with her and keep me up to date on her goals and progress. But we also keep coming back because Midwest is like a 2nd home to us. The staff at the desk, Karen, Lisa and others are always helpful and friendly. Joel and the staff at the Blackbirdie Grill are always great with my daughter and myself. Just can’t recommend them enough!
April 08 · Karen FackoThe kids had fun at open gym. But word of advice to this company - don’t put a worker out there who hates kids. The guy overseeing the open gym was making up a new rule every 5 minutes and yelling at the kids very harshly. It’s hard for them to understand new rule after new rule. Maybe add signs or arrows telling the kids were they can and can not go.
July 15 · Teresa BurzynskiWe love Midwest! We’ve been going there for three years. We go early mornings and Karen at the front desk is a joy, always friendly and helpful. Stephanie with figure skating is an incredible coach. She’s nurtured the love of skating with my daughter and challenges her to excel.
April 08 · Kelley WeisenbacherWe absolutely love the team coaches. They have amazing experience, great credentials and are awesome with the girls. Midwest has been our home away from home. Highly recommend.
April 05 · Cynthia GonzalezI come in to skate during the morning (when most people don’t want to be awake) and Karen always manages to greet me with a smile and ask me how I’m doing. She knows who I am and is able to make connections with the different customers who come to Midwest. I genuinely look forward to coming to Midwest and seeing people like Karen and Stephanie!
