★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Never in my lifetime have I witnessed a business decline so significantly. I actually signed up at XSport Fitness over 20 years ago at this location -- before it opened. I also met the original founder, Steve Raymond. The place has become an absolute dump. Broken air conditioning and DIRTY. They don't wipe the equipment so you leave with dirt all over your hands. The patrons also have declined as well. Very ghetto. Earlier today, someone asked me how the sink in the men's room worked as he didn't notice it wasn't automatic and there was a manual handle.
September 10 · Travis FieldSo happy to have LA Fitness take over…maybe they will fix the roof leaks that cause a squishy swamp in the gym. I won’t hold my breath but maybe they will start making repairs to equipment!!!! I’d be thrilled if they added more than one set of dumbbells!!!!Pictures are early Sunday morning…no equipment put away…weights everywhere!4/23 update: same stuff, 5am and weights and garbage everywhere. Weights aren’t where they are supposed to be…scattered across everywhere.
April 23 · Matt HilgendorfI don’t like leaving bad reviews, let alone reviews in general, but this can’t be left unreviewed.LA fitness - what on EARTH are you guys doing? Do any of you at the facility, in management, in corporate have any functional brain cells? You have been closed since Friday 6/20 and left a piece of paper stating you’d reopen Monday @ noon. Terrible communication, but fine- we all understand the need for repairs and maintenance. Show up Monday afternoon - still closed. Show up today - still closed and now there’s not even a sign.WHERE is the communication or transparency? You are leading members to travel to the gym just to realize it is still closed, without ANY expectations on when it’ll reopen? You guys can’t even do the god damn bare minimum.I’m at a loss for words at this point. I’ve never experienced a more poorly run gym, or even place. I hope to see more incoming negative reviews as the reputation crumbles.
June 24 · Max KimI have been a member at this gym for just under a year and would highly advise anyone to go anywhere else for their exercise needs if they are able to. Since LA Fitness took over last year (and doubled the price of membership) there have been zero (0) tangible upgrades to the gym. Everything is filthy and there is pretty much no effort to clean anything. The restrooms and locker rooms are disgusting, and the upstairs bathroom is practically unusable. The pool has been unavailable for the entire duration of my membership, but I am sure it will get fixed soon!Regarding the weights/machines, I am surprised their printer hasn't run out of ink with all of the "out of service, awaiting repairs" signs that are all over the place. For the machines that actually do work, the numbers which designate how much weight you are lifting are almost all scratched off, so you have to estimate how much you're lifting. The free-weights are constantly missing, because there are only 1-2 sets of the highly sought after dumbbells. But thankfully, there are 20 elliptical machines!Unfortunately, this is the only affordable gym in the area, so it restricts people such as myself from going anywhere else. The staff is generally nice and the other patrons are respectful for the most part, but if you are able to, go literally anywhere else to workout.
May 26 · Ben DutkinHas to be one of the worst gyms in Chicago. The place looks abandoned while still somehow operating. No natural light, zero cell service. I’m pretty sure their AC doesn’t work or they just choose not to run it, so there’s just fans everywhere but everyone is sweating over all the equipment and not cleaning it. Pool has been closed for a long time, completely dirty and moldy in the basement.
