What is worth choosing
Choosing a fitness studio in New York is a big decision, and Helen's Intensive Pilates stands out for several compelling reasons, as highlighted by its dedicated clientele. One customer's journey perfectly encapsulates the studio's value: they started with Pilates, tried other workouts like spinning and boxing, and ultimately returned to Pilates to "improve my running" and "couldn’t be happier with the results." This speaks to the long-term, foundational benefits of Pilates that other forms of exercise might not offer. The consistent quality of instruction is a recurring theme in reviews. As one client stated, the three instructors are "amazing—each in their own unique way," and "the instruction is consistently great." This ensures that no matter which class you attend, you are guaranteed a high-quality, effective workout. The personal touch is a key differentiator. Another customer mentioned choosing this studio "over a pilates studio that was significantly closer to my home," a powerful testament to the superior experience offered here. They praised the "really great" instructors, the "clean and well-maintained" studio, the "welcoming and responsive" staff, and the ease of booking classes. The small class sizes are a significant advantage, allowing instructors to provide more focused attention and corrections. This is particularly valuable for those new to the practice, as one reviewer wisely suggested starting with private lessons because "the machines are hard to use if you've never tried them before." The availability of private and semi-private sessions, in addition to group classes, ensures that every client can find a format that suits their comfort level and goals. Finally, the convenience of the location, including the "ample parking" near Avenue U, removes a common urban obstacle and makes it easier to stay committed to a fitness routine. When you combine top-tier instruction, a clean and welcoming environment, small class sizes, and practical accessibility, Helen's Intensive Pilates presents itself as a premier destination for anyone in Brooklyn serious about their health and fitness journey. It is a place where you can feel confident in your choice, knowing you will receive exceptional service and a workout that delivers tangible results, making it well worth the trip, even if it's not the closest option to your home.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I started Pilates about 4 years ago because I wanted a more active lifestyle, and it felt like the best way to begin. After a few months (maybe a year), I stopped and explored other classes like spinning, boxing, and running. I came back to Pilates a year ago because I needed more stretching to improve my running. Now I combine Pilates and running, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. The three instructors at Ave U are amazing—each in their own unique way. In my opinion, progress depends more on the effort each person puts in, because the instruction is consistently great. The studio itself is excellent. I also really appreciate the clear and consistent communication about class schedules and membership. Highly recommend!
July 24 · Carolina B ChoiI've had a very good experience here. I chose this place over a pilates studio that was significantly closer to my home. The instructors are really great, studio is clean and well-maintained, staff is welcoming and responsive, and it's easy to book a class. Classes are small and I've always been able to get into a class I wanted. I started with 2 private lessons. I would recommend this as the machines are hard to use if you've never tried them before (there's a learning curve to pilates, but well worth it!). There's also ample parking near the Ave U location.
April 10 · Tatyana SAbsolutely love this neighborhood Pilates studio! The atmosphere is warm and friendly and the instructors always have you and your progress as their number one priority. Classes are small, so you get plenty of personal attention, and the workouts leave you feeling strong and refreshed. Highly recommend!
April 12 · Iryna KrylyukSmall studio made up of Jewish women, so if you’re not that you will feel a little out of place. I first tried the KHWY location over a decade ago and decided to come back to get ready for my September wedding. It was more diverse at that location but I didn’t mind because I had my goals in mind!My issues are with management and how they chose to address the situation. On Sunday night my fiancé and I had our engagement party and naturally we had gifts that we received. On Monday while opening the rest of our gifts, we saw that we were gifted tickets to the Nets game for 4/8. Once I saw this, I texted Helen’s Pilates around 11:30am to ask to reschedule to the next morning due to the tickets we just saw. I explained that the game was at 7pm and class was at 4:30pm so I couldn’t possibly make it both. First they mentioned waiting for the owner’s approval, then I was told that because only one other student booked, I can’t cancel because then they would have to cancel the entire class. I explained again that I couldn’t foresee this happening and that one person booking was not my issue. She then proceeded to try to convince me to come to the class instead because there’s only one other student, she then said I can’t reschedule I’ll just loose the class. This is when I saw the unfairness, I’ve seen other students classes get rescheduled and rebooked myself, it was almost like they’re punishing me for not being able to make it in. Today, I decided to leave a review because sadly, this is not where the story ends. On 4/9 I booked a class for today 4/10, even after accepting that they took my class unfairly. The owner Helen called me last evening and personally and told me not to come back because I cause too much issues with class. The instructor and receptionist were upset at the situation and that they will refund the rest of my classes, minus the 4/8 of course which they still have the nerve to want to keep. Everything I said was taken to sound “hostile”(thank goodness it was all in text).I bought up the fact they are treating me differently from Jewish women and they told me I’m being Anti-Semantic and will report it as a hate crime.I learned the hard way of the perception these people have of me and immediately understood why I was handled the way I was. So bottom line don’t go here! They WILL be bias to you! As of today, I’m still having issues receiving the full refund for the remaining 6 classes I didn’t take. Don’t go here! Not worth it!
