What is worth choosing:
For Connecticut residents, Healthtrax Fitness & Wellness in Bristol is an appealing choice for its extensive amenities and full-service approach to fitness. The value of this gym lies in its ability to cater to a wide range of interests, from traditional strength training and cardio to aquatics and recreational sports. The indoor swimming pool, basketball court, and sauna are major features that set it apart from many other gyms in the area. This makes it an ideal option for families or individuals who want a single location for various fitness and leisure activities. The availability of diverse group classes, like Zumba and boot camp, provides an engaging alternative to a solo workout routine and fosters a sense of community. The acceptance of various payment methods, including credit cards and NFC mobile payments, also adds a layer of convenience for potential members.
However, it is crucial for prospective members to be fully aware of the negative feedback and reported issues regarding customer service and certain policies. A customer review detailed an unpleasant experience with staff who denied entry to a teenager with a day pass, citing a policy that seemed to contradict the gym's own stated junior strength program guidelines. Another review from a basketball player highlights serious issues with staff behavior and what was perceived as a passive-aggressive attempt to rush them off the court for a scheduled class, even when there was plenty of time. These accounts point to potential inconsistencies in how policies are enforced and a lack of respect for members' use of the facilities they have paid for. While the gym offers a rich array of services on paper, a gym's atmosphere and customer relations are just as important as its amenities. A gym that feels like it’s sending a message that you are "not welcome" can seriously undermine the benefit of its great facilities.
In conclusion, while Healthtrax Fitness & Wellness in Bristol offers impressive amenities like a pool, sauna, and basketball court that many other gyms lack, potential members should consider the reported customer service issues. It's recommended to inquire specifically about the gym's policies for guests, especially minors, and to understand the scheduling and usage rules for shared spaces like the basketball court. For some, the variety of offerings will outweigh the potential for administrative friction, but for others, the negative experiences of current members may be a deal-breaker. A good gym experience is about both the quality of the facilities and the quality of the people and policies, and it is wise to make a decision only after weighing both factors.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I like my current gym but I am looking for a gym with more amenities. I was considering this gym but will continue to look elsewhere due to how my son was treated. He was denied entry during his second visit due to “not having an ID”. I called back to find out why he was denied entry considering that 15 year olds typically do not have IDs. I was told that some teenagers have been abusing the free workout passes by using different names each time they go to workout. At no point did my son try to use a free pass. He paid for the $15 day pass in the past and was trying to do the same. When I called, I was told that he needs to go through the junior strength program. According to their website, the junior strength program is for children between the age of 9-13 years old. I would not be opposed to him doing this program even though he is above the recommended age but I am looking at other options because of he was treated.
April 11 · JojoThis gym is hot garbage ! I along with 6 others were literally clapped at today and told “to hurry up “ at 8:45 this morning while we were playing basketball because a 9:15 group fitness class wanted to start setting up . That is 30 minutes early! They often set up the class equipment around us in a passive-aggressive manner while we’re playing. Almost as if they’re sending a message that we’re not welcome. Though this could lead to injury or even spark conflict, we always choose to handle it diplomatically. This treatment will not stand . I was told there was a basketball court at this gym when I gave Darcy $600 + to sign up. I paid and I intend to play ball without being harassed or I’ll write a review every single day till you have no members left to give this sorry excuse for a gym the 1 star it deserves. If your classes are scheduled at 9:15 , then you can set up for it at 9:15. Do better! Also, chill with the microphones . We shouldn’t have to endure that through our own headphones just because Billy Blanks over there is convinced he sold out an arena for a 9AM jazzercise.
May 05 · Matthew BradyWas clapped off of the “Basketball court” for a pilates class. This isn’t the first time me & my friends that travel 25+ mins have been treated horribly by the staff while playing basketball. i brought possible young new members to check out the basketball court & gym. was told that we abused the guest pass & was asked for ID for. Then after we left me & my group was told to “go back to waterbury where we came from” very rude and prejudice workers do not recommend!
May 06 · SiahTheBarberMy experience has been very good the trainer works well with me being an oxygen having a lot of medical conditions they were very good with me
July 16 · Rose MartinVery disappointed in the children swimming lessons. Classes were very chaotic and disorganized especially when the head instructor Mr.C wasn't there. Young helper maybe highschool aged was letting my child struggle and her face repeatedly falling under the water to the extent she started choking while he was directly next to her because he wasn't paying attention. Same instructor laughed at my child after she went under the water and couldn't help herself back up and was very scared. She was crying and he wasn't laughing. He seemed new and had little idea what he was doing. My child did 3 sessions and made absolutely no improvement after the 1st session. They split the classes in a very weird way some kids were receiving a nearly private or very small group lessons due to skill and kept kids with the beginners even though they were in sessions prior so therefore never progressed. Very confusing. You can pay slightly more at another place if not the same amount for much better lessons and more attentive instructors.
