It’s a place that is designed for people who are serious about their health but don’t want the distractions or pressures of an overly commercial gym.
One of the most compelling reasons to choose Hampstead Health and Fitness is its physical setup. The fact that it is a "fantastic large gym" with a "great selection of weights and equipment" means that you will not have to wait for machines and can perform a full and varied workout. The designated areas for different types of training, such as the back section for cardio and stretching, demonstrate a thoughtful approach to gym layout that enhances the overall workout experience. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Fantastic large gym, clean amenities and a great selection of weights and equipment. There’s also a back section for more stretching and cardio type workouts. Not very crowded either but that can change depending on your workout timing.Only drawback is the men’s sauna isn’t screaming hot but that’s not enough of a ding for me to drop it down from 5 stars.
December 31 · Jay BiskyCant's stand this place - came a few times, intimidated by the super fit guys, the girls won't give you the time of day if you aren't ripped.
August 01 · David DeJulioI have been coming to this gym for about 10 months and overall my experience has been pretty good. It's not the biggest gym and can get crowded during the peak hours, but since it's open 24 hrs that can be mitigated by avoid those hours. I usually come around 8 pm and rarely have to wait for a machine or rack. It is by far less crowded then somewhere like planet fitness. The Good:- There is a solid amount of machines that are all in pretty good shape. Some are a little older, but in general in good shape.- Good variety of equipment (machines, smith machines, half rack, rack, monolift, deadlift platform, kettlebells, etc )- Very Clean- 24 hrs- Nice locker rooms- Good Accessory Bars ( Camber, Swiss Bar, etc.)- Small drink bar during operating hours and vending machine during 24 hrs- Good stretching room- What looks like a nice room for classes, and a pretty good schedule of classes to take.- Friendly staffThe Bad ( I say bad but most of these are minor):- The biggest in my mind may be trivial to some, but the barbells, curl bars, fixed weight ez bars, and straight bars are in rough shape. The knurling is shot on most of these, and on the fixed weight bars the ends are continually lossening and rubber decaying.- Don't forget your headphones, I know this isn't a powerlifting gym, but being mid set and having the music switch over to Phil Collins or Michael Bolton is rough. The volume is soft enough that you can't get into the music and yet also loud enough that you can ignore it.- Treadmills are in need of maintenance, some of them you can't run on, some the screens don't really work on, and some are just really loud like they need some work on the platform or belt. On the plus side they do have a lot of other cardio equipment, some of it is quite new.- Could probably use another squat rack or half rack, and another deadlift platform. Although in the gyms defense I don't know where they could really stick them unfortunately. The Ugly:- Barbells, going to call this out again because some of them are pretty bad. There are two Rouge Ohio bars that are in good shape; two old no name power bars that are straight, but the knurling is shot; and two Bonnlo(Amazon brand) that are horrendous and maybe boardline unsafe. I mean the brand on Amazon doesn't even specialize in weightlifting equipment they literally sell things like furniture and baby gates. They are both getting worn out after only a few months and one of them is even bent now. It's supposed to hold 700lbs based upon the Amazon description and it's bent?! I get that we aren't paying Equinox Gym prices here but for what our memberships cost id expect at least name brand barbells if nothing else for safety purposes. I guess that's why there are so many people that bring in and lock up there own personal barbells in the back room.Summary: All in all with only one real complaint, this is a really good gym, id say best in the area. More serious than a Planet Fitness and better equipped, but not a CrossFit or Powerlifting gym. It has good machines and cardio equipment and a good variety of them. Free weights section is well equipped with dumbbells, kettle bells, weight plates and benches. Gym is clean and now that the parking lot is finished there is plenty of space and it is well lit. I would definitely recommend this to folks looking for a good all around gym especially if you need to workout late (aka past 9pm). I'd give it 5 stars if they'd replace the Barbells and fixed weight bars.
September 27 · Quinn NelsonEverything I need for a healthy workout. Very friendly staff. Well behaved clientele. Equipment is always well maintained and repaired in a timely fashion. Appropriate and comfortable environment for persons of all sexes and ages.
July 14 · Elie IIGreat gym, great staff, great atmosphere. Theyve also got a whole new building for pickleball and a maybe a bar or so ive heard. Membership is a little higher but definitely worth it. It also has 24 hour access which is the best part
