What is worth choosing?
For residents of Springfield, Illinois, choosing a fitness center is an important decision. FitClub presents a compelling case, but it's essential to consider all aspects. The facility is praised by many members for its extensive variety of equipment and amenities. A key highlight is the inclusion of a sauna, pool, and a wide array of classes in the membership, providing excellent value. The 24-hour access is another major draw, offering the flexibility needed for a busy lifestyle. The staff is consistently described as friendly and informative, which contributes to a positive and welcoming atmosphere. For many, the sheer number of options—from a huge track for running upstairs to a multitude of classes—means there truly is something for everyone.
However, it's also important to be a fully informed consumer. Some members have pointed out areas for improvement, particularly regarding the cleanliness and maintenance of the facilities and equipment. While the gym does have a yearly maintenance fee, some reviews express concern that the funds aren't being used effectively to address issues like broken equipment or an outdated appearance. Similarly, prospective members should be aware of the contract terms. As one review notes, it's crucial to "read the fine print and ask questions before signing anything," as membership contracts can have specific cancellation policies. Despite these points, the core value proposition of FitClub remains strong. It offers an immense amount of utility and resources under one roof, making it a fantastic choice for those who want an all-in-one health club experience. If you value a wide variety of equipment and amenities and can manage your membership with diligence, FitClub is a top contender for your fitness needs in Springfield.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I don’t often leave a bad review for small businesses. If I don’t like something, I just never return. Unfortunately, I unwittingly signed a one year contract that can’t be cancelled except for specific circumstances, so that isn’t an option for me in this case. That’s my bad. I would suggest people read the fine print and ask questions before signing anything. For the most part, a lot of the people that work here are very nice and helpful. Most of the members, like myself, are just there to complete a workout and get on with their day, although many of them are there to socialize? Doesn’t seem like a social place, but whatever.I have used this gym consistently for the past two years and have made good progress. But I’ve gotten somewhat tired of the way some facilities and equipment are either dirty, smell bad, or are in need of repair. I get that the facilities and equipment will sometimes need repairs, but this gym doesn’t cost $10 a month, it’s $39 per month plus the initial fees. Where is that money going? The way they fix their warped flooring at the North location is a constant irritation (see the pics). I haven’t seen that method of fixing flooring at the other two locations.I’m not renewing my membership for a lot of reasons. When it expires soon, I am going to try a smaller gym without a steam room, sauna, or pool. That way I won’t have to worry about facilities being unusable when I intend to use them. If I could have, I would have ended my membership here months ago.
December 23 · Luis LThis gym is a decent facility. It has a huge variety of equipment. Sauna, pool and classes are all included in your membership. The staff is always friendly and informative. I love that they are open 24 hours. There’s a big track for running upstairs. There’s something for everyone. Now for the cons: This gym could use some deep cleaning and improvements since we pay a yearly maintenance fee. They did upgrade the lobby area but it doesn’t benefit your experience. The walls need painted and It’s a bit outdated and very disorganized. Most members aren’t courteous and don’t re racks their weights or clean up after themselves. Equipment is constantly broken and waiting to be repaired.
May 02 · Kat FelizMy name is Joelle Tisckos unsure of why this is being posted through my mother’s account. I had attended fit club 1 time and found that the equipment along with everything else in the building is outdated, and the price should reflect that. I was under the impression that I was signing up for a free trial when unfortunately that was not the case in the fine lining. I now owe $800 for attending the gym one time. Jason was very rude and condescending when I called to express my issues saying that “it is very obvious what I was signing up for” when in fact it clearly was not obvious enough because I never intentionally buried my self in $800 worth of debt especially with the economy the way it is right now. I am very disappointed and would not recommend this gym, despite the money, I only went one time because it was not worth the price. Planet fitness is way better and constantly updating their equipment with much nicer and UNDERSTANDING employees. I have also heard from older family members that they were taken advantage of due to the lack of their cognitive ability, these people are scam artists and make their money solely off of fooling everyone. The only decent thing about this place is a hot tub, as long as your okay with being accompanied by 6 old men staring at you.
May 08 · Crystal TisckosI asked for a tour when I arrived the first time, as I didn’t want to wander into a class area or the wrong locker room. They didn’t seem too enthusiastic about it, but they still showed me around a little bit. Enough to be helpful. I have been going for a month soo far, and each time I show up the gym wasn’t overly crowded. It’s clean in the areas that I go to. The blonde lady that cleans is very friendly and does an amazing job. I like going here more than I thought I would. Haven’t had any issues with billing soo far, I know others have mentioned it. So I’ll be keeping an eye on my account to make sure it stays that way. I think the website could be a little more transparent about the costs to start up. You have to initiate setting up an account in order to see their prices, I just find that a little off.
March 04 · A RI have been a member here for many years. In the past 18 months i have not been able to use the facilities but have still paid the dues each month. I am trying to find out my options so I will not lose all of the dues money I have paid but it is IMPOSSIBLE to talk to a live person. I have called 2 times and the first time I was on hold - with sappy music playing- for 11 minutes. I called back and chose a different option and have been on hold for for over 9 minutes. A live person actually finally came on the line- a person that is at a call center in Arkansas. She was nice but absolutely no help. She did give me the actual phone number to reach the Springfield sites but still cannot seem to talk to a live person. I can't believe that FitClub is so big of an organization that a person cant answer the phone. Finally I did get through to a staff person who was accommodating and easy to work with. But- unless "you know your parties extension" good luck.
