Equinox Union Street is located at 2055 Union St, San Francisco, CA 94123, USA. Our prime location in the city is one of our most significant features, making us a convenient choice for many San Francisco residents. We are situated in a bustling neighborhood known for its shops, restaurants, and lively atmosphere. We offer wheelchair-accessible entrances and restrooms, ensuring our facility is welcoming and inclusive for everyone in the California community.
The central location on Union Street is a key reason many members choose our gym. For those who live or work nearby, the accessibility is a major plus, making it easy to fit a workout into a busy schedule. We understand that in a city like San Francisco, a gym's location is a crucial factor, and our spot is a major draw. While the convenience of the location is a significant benefit, it is important to be aware that this can lead to high traffic during peak hours, particularly after work and on weekend mornings. This is a common occurrence in popular urban gyms, and while we strive to manage it, it is a factor to consider for those with specific workout schedules.

However, it is important for potential members to consider the feedback from existing users. Additionally, some comments about facility maintenance and customer service may be relevant to your decision. While the brand is known for its luxury appeal, it's worth visiting during a peak time to get a true feel for the atmosphere. For those in California who value a premium location and a wide range of services and are prepared for a potentially busy environment, Equinox Union Street remains a strong choice for their fitness journey.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Been a member since 2021, and unfortunately the value proposition has only gone down in that time. This gym is small, but in a great location, so it is almost constantly packed. I grant that there may not be much Equinox can do about this, besides open another gym closer in the area, or go back to the Covid-era design of staggering times for members. It gets so crowded during after work and weekend mornings that it is often challenging to complete a workout, unless you want to use the cardio machines (actually, one suggestion: fewer cardio machines and more room for weights and weight machines). The overall "feel" of Equinox has decreased in my time here. It no longer feels luxury- it's nice, but feels hurried, crowded, and busy. The cleaning staff are thorough but unfriendly (one literally opened my shower door and was on the verge of spraying me with the disinfectant hose before he looked up and realized it was occupied; more than once the cleaning staff has run the mop across my feet when cleaning the floor because they don't look around or pay much attention). The water fountains are often broken (a small dribble comes out instead of a stream) and rarely cleaned (mold lining the inside). Oh, and every year, your membership price will go up by a certain percentage, anyway.Unfortunately, I feel like this has led to a knock-on effect with the culture of the people who use the gym. In the four years I've been here, it's gotten much worse: used towels are routinely left everywhere in the men's locker room, people hose the sauna sensor until the temperature is barely tolerable (and probably not therapeutic, anyways), and there are only 3 toilets in the men's bathroom (and no bathroom at all on the 1st and 3rd floors, and one co-ed private bathroom on the fourth floor). Some of these are general Equinox complaints, and some of these are Union Street specific, but by far the most site-specific one I have is that the hours for this gym are atrocious, particularly on weekends. Staying open later might alleviate some of the insane congestion that happens at peak hours, but Friday through Sunday it is very hard to work out here, particularly for those of us who have weekend shifts.
September 10 · Julian De MartinisDecided to give this place a try while traveling, and the only good thing I can say is the location. The equipment is extremely old and worn down, and the layout makes no sense — spread across several awkward floors. The StairMaster on the third floor is laughable: the AC blows right in your face, and at 5’3” I still didn’t have enough headroom to fully stand and do the exercise. Did I mention the equipment is old? Definitely not worth it. Never complaining about my gym in Los Angeles again.
September 10 · Gabriela Camillibeen a member for a couple months- could not be happier. from the warm welcome you get when you arrive from alex, chloe and the rest of the front desk team, to kylie in member services, to the ample equipment, and the cleanliness of the facilities which is super important to me, equinox union st checks off all the boxes. i always look forward to getting in a workout, even on days where i'm just dragging- great space, with a great team.
June 30 · Paul BattagliaYou would expect that for 300$ a month you get a good service, well that’s not the case. They charge me 50$ for no reason and they never told me why despite calling several times. Machines are old and there is not enough equipment for the amount of people. DO NOT RECOMMEND THID GYM AT ALL
June 02 · juan carlos garcia tebarChelsea and Alex (general manager and sales rep) are, by far, the most unprofessional people I've ever worked with. It's unbelievable to me the level of unprofessionalism I experienced from this team over the last month. I was overcharged for my membership, have been asking for and not receiving several of the benefits I was promised when signing up, and I'm consistently given ETAs - none of which are met.
