Equilibrium Fitness Introduce
For residents of Three Oaks and the surrounding areas in Southwest Michigan, finding a gym that combines professional-level instruction with a supportive and inclusive atmosphere can be a challenge. Equilibrium Fitness, located in the charming village of Three Oaks, has positioned itself as a unique solution, offering a range of specialized fitness services in a comfortable, community-focused setting. This gym stands out not just for its offerings in indoor cycling, personal training, and group classes, but also for its stated commitment to being a welcoming space for all. This article will provide an in-depth look at what makes Equilibrium Fitness a valuable resource for the local community, detailing its services, location, and key features that contribute to a positive and effective fitness journey for its members.
Three Oaks is a quaint village in Berrien County, Michigan, known for its small-town feel and close-knit community. According to recent U.S. Census Bureau data, the village has a population of around 1,322 people, with a median age of 39.6. Despite its size, the community has a desire for high-quality, local businesses that cater to its residents' needs. Equilibrium Fitness is a prime example of a local establishment that aims to fill this role by providing a personalized fitness experience that is often difficult to find in larger, more commercial gyms. The gym's focus on private and small-group instruction is particularly well-suited for a community where a personal touch and a familiar face are highly valued. By offering a safe and secure environment, the gym meets a crucial need for its members in the local area.
Equilibrium Fitness is conveniently located at 5 W Ash St #4, Three Oaks, MI 49128, USA. Its address places it in the heart of Three Oaks, making it easily accessible for residents of the village and nearby towns. The gym's central location is a significant benefit for those looking to integrate fitness into their daily routine without a long commute. Accessibility is a key feature of the facility, which has a wheelchair-accessible entrance, a wheelchair-accessible parking lot, and a wheelchair-accessible restroom. This ensures that the gym is a welcoming and functional space for individuals with a wide range of physical abilities. The onsite-only services create a dedicated space for fitness, allowing members to focus on their workouts without the distractions of a multi-purpose facility. The gym's commitment to accessibility and convenience reflects a deep understanding of the practical needs of its local clientele.
Equilibrium Fitness provides a focused suite of services that cater to both individual and group fitness needs. The gym avoids a one-size-fits-all approach and instead concentrates on high-quality, instructor-led programs and personalized training. This specialization allows them to offer expert guidance and a more tailored fitness experience. The primary services offered are:
- Personal Training: Equilibrium Fitness provides one-on-one personal training sessions. These private lessons are designed for individuals who want a customized workout plan, focused attention, and expert guidance to achieve specific goals. This personalized approach is ideal for those who are new to fitness, are recovering from an injury, or simply prefer a more private setting for their workouts.
- Indoor Cycling: Also known as cycling or spin, these high-energy classes are a cornerstone of the gym's offerings. Indoor cycling is a fantastic cardiovascular workout that can be modified for any fitness level. The group setting provides a motivating atmosphere, with an instructor guiding participants through a variety of terrains and challenges.
- Group Fitness Classes: The gym offers a variety of group fitness classes beyond cycling, including Pilates. These classes are led by certified instructors and provide a structured and fun way to work out. Group classes foster a sense of community and accountability, making it easier for members to stay on track with their fitness goals.
- Pilates Studio: While part of the group fitness offerings, Pilates is a specialized area of focus. Pilates classes at Equilibrium Fitness emphasize core strength, flexibility, and posture. It's a low-impact workout that complements other forms of exercise and is suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
Beyond the services themselves, Equilibrium Fitness offers several key features that contribute to its overall value. As a women-owned business, it brings a unique perspective to the local fitness landscape, often creating a more nurturing and empowering environment for clients. The gym actively promotes itself as an LGBTQ+ friendly and transgender safespace, a crucial and commendable feature that ensures everyone feels welcome and respected. This inclusive atmosphere is a major selling point for individuals who have felt uncomfortable in more traditional or "bro-ish" gym settings. The facility also provides essential amenities like a gender-neutral restroom, a standard restroom, and Wi-Fi, enhancing the comfort and convenience of the member experience. All these elements work together to create a space that is not just about physical exercise but also about personal well-being and a sense of belonging. The gym operates on an appointment and membership-required basis, which allows them to manage class sizes and provide more personal attention to each client. The acceptance of both credit and debit cards also adds to the convenience of the gym's services.
For those interested in visiting or learning more about Equilibrium Fitness, the facility is located at 5 W Ash St #4, Three Oaks, MI 49128, USA. You can contact them by phone at (269) 586-4280 or on their mobile phone at +1 269-586-4280. It's always best to call ahead to discuss membership options or to schedule an appointment, as their policy requires it. This practice ensures that potential clients receive a dedicated consultation and a personalized introduction to the gym's offerings. The staff is available to answer questions about classes, pricing, and the types of programs that might be the best fit for your specific fitness goals. Making that initial contact is the first step toward joining a fitness community that is built on personal connection and professional guidance.
What makes Equilibrium Fitness a choice worth considering is its deeply personal and specialized approach to fitness, which is in stark contrast to the large, impersonal gym chains. The gym is centered around its mission to be a supportive and inclusive space. However, it is also important to consider all available public information. Some client experiences have highlighted challenges with scheduling and a strict adherence to a no-exceptions policy for appointments. One customer noted a negative experience where a five-minute delay resulted in a missed appointment, accompanied by a harsh email response. This suggests that while the gym values its trainers' time, it may have a rigid scheduling policy that could be a point of friction for some. Another review mentions a denial of membership based on assumptions about a client's intentions, which can be seen as contrary to the stated inclusive values. Despite these negative anecdotes, other customer feedback from online sources describes a positive environment, praising the clean facilities, welcoming staff, and diverse class options. The gym's website and marketing materials highlight a professional and expert staff, including a women owner with extensive degrees and certifications. The core of the gym's offering—specialized classes like cycling and personal training—can be incredibly effective for those who thrive in a structured environment. For those in Three Oaks who are looking for a gym with a clear focus and a strong sense of community, and who are willing to adhere to a strict appointment-based system, Equilibrium Fitness could be an ideal fit. It’s a place where the fitness journey is not just a workout, but a dedicated, scheduled commitment to your well-being, for those who value that structured approach.

Equilibrium Fitness Reviews
Because I have more degrees and certifications in exercise science than the owner and director combined, my father and I were refused memberships for fear I would be training other people. Sad. Remember when the fitness industry was about not making assumptions? I’m thoroughly disappointed.
February 10 · Steve ChristopherTerrible experience with Jordan. I showed up 5 minutes late to my 10am sign-up appointment, and I was turned away at the door because I "missed" the appointment, and told to come back two days later. I was not informed that there was only a 5-minute window for this appointment, and I would have made more of an effort to be on time had I known. I mentioned this to Jordan over email, and received a very nasty response:"For your future information, be on time for your scheduled appointments. I had a slot to squeeze you in today between my 6 appointments that were scheduled as far as two weeks in advance, and you missed it. My time is very valuable and when people are late to appointments without any notification is very inconsiderate and rude."This was FIVE minutes. I was never told he had to leave by 10:05. Sure Jordan's time might be "very valuable," but so is mine and I wasted 40 mins driving to EQ and back this morning. I come to the area every summer, and had an excellent experience with Katie last year, but EQ just lost a loyal customer.
July 29 · Nick RubinEquilibrium Fitness Three Oaks is one of two in the area (other location is in New Buffalo). The equipment is kept up-to-date and well-maintained. The staff is friendly and encourages you to challenge yourself while working out on your own, with a personal trainer, or in a wide variety of classes offered (high intensity interval training, spin cycle, barre, pilates). I enjoy working out at both locations!
November 20 · Linda ClementsEquilibrium Fitness is a first-class operation, including knowledgeable and supportive trainers; clean, inviting space; fine equipment; 24-hour access; and a wide assortment of classes and program plans. Owner Katie Maroney, backed by Jordan, Emma, Abby, and others, should be very proud of what they’ve built for the community. I never thought I’d look forward to going to the gym, but now I do.
November 20 · CindyLove this new gym in Three Oaks! 10 minute drive from New Buffalo. I also use the New Buffalo gym. Brand new machines, free weights, TRX, classes. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Reasonably priced.
