Crunch Fitness - Greenpoint Introduce
For residents of Greenpoint and the surrounding Brooklyn neighborhoods, finding a convenient and affordable gym is a key part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Crunch Fitness - Greenpoint, located in a prime spot on Manhattan Avenue, offers a straightforward and accessible option for those looking to fit a workout into their daily routine. This article is designed to provide local users with a clear, factual, and informative overview of what this gym offers. We will explore its location, the services and amenities available, and discuss the member experience based on public information and real customer reviews, helping you decide if this is the right fitness destination for you.
Crunch Fitness is a well-known chain that operates on a "No Judgments" philosophy, aiming to make fitness accessible and fun for everyone. The Greenpoint location embodies this approach, offering a diverse range of equipment and classes to cater to different fitness levels and goals. However, as is common with many city gyms, the experience can vary depending on the time of day and specific needs. A recent review notes that the gym is in a "great spot just five minutes from the G train," making it highly convenient for those who use public transportation. The two-floor layout provides a dedicated space for cardio, strength training, and group fitness classes, giving members a variety of options to choose from.
The gym's atmosphere and equipment have been described in detail by a customer. The reviewer highlights that the gym has "a lot of treadmills," which is a significant plus for cardio lovers, although they noted that "only a few bikes" can make them "hard to get." The machines are a "mix of older but well-kept ones and some newer muscle-building ones." While some machines may be a bit "squeaky," this is a detail to consider. The reviewer also mentions that the gym "gets packed during rush hour from 6 to 8 PM," which is typical for many New York City gyms. This insight is valuable for prospective members who plan to work out during peak hours. The fact that the reviewer had "no trouble grabbing a treadmill" even during this time is a positive sign for those focused on cardio.
The customer reviews present a mix of positive and negative experiences, which is important to consider. One reviewer praises the gym's location, the variety of equipment, and the cleanliness, noting that "Everyone is pretty good about wiping down machines and there are plenty of cleaning stations around." This suggests a positive and responsible community of members. On the other hand, a separate, highly negative review focuses on a poor customer service experience with the management and staff. This member described the management as "dishonest" regarding membership fees and contract details, and also commented that the "machines appear to be on their last leg" and the environment is "dark & bleak." It is worth noting that this person also mentioned liking some of the trainers, highlighting that individual experiences with staff can be a mixed bag. This wide disparity in feedback suggests that a personal visit or trial period may be necessary to form your own opinion.

What is Worth Choosing Crunch Fitness - Greenpoint
For a local resident in Greenpoint, Crunch Fitness offers a practical and accessible gym option. The gym's key strengths lie in its prime location near the G train, its extensive selection of cardio machines, and the variety of group fitness classes available. For those who prioritize a simple, no-frills workout environment without a hefty price tag, Crunch can be a solid choice. The positive feedback about the gym’s cleanliness and the helpfulness of some staff members suggests that a positive workout experience is possible, especially during off-peak hours. However, it is important to be aware of the potential for crowds during busy times and to manage expectations regarding the condition of some equipment, as highlighted by a customer review. The negative review regarding the management's customer service and communication on membership fees is a serious point to consider, and prospective members would be wise to read all contract details carefully and ask for specifics in writing. Ultimately, Crunch Fitness - Greenpoint offers a convenient and well-equipped space for a workout, and for many, its location and core offerings are well worth the membership fee. It is a gym that serves a specific purpose in a busy neighborhood, providing a functional place to get your workout in without the added frills of a luxury club.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Crunch Greenpoint is in a great spot just five minutes from the G train and surrounded by good food. The gym has two floors with a lot of treadmills but only a few bikes so they can be hard to get. The machines are a mix of older but well-kept ones and some newer muscle-building ones. Some are a little squeaky but nothing too bad. It gets packed during rush hour from 6 to 8 PM but I had no trouble grabbing a treadmill. The fitness class area is right next to the cardio section and the machines are pretty close together so you can definitely feel the person next to you going hard on the treadmill. The treadmills have built-in fans but they mostly blow warm air. The locker room is in the basement where I saw a yoga class happening. The women’s locker room is clean with lots of lockers so bring a lock. There are a good number of bathroom stalls showers and sinks. I saw about four water-filling stations on the first floor and the filters seem solid. Everyone is pretty good about wiping down machines and there are plenty of cleaning stations around.
April 15 · Becky ZhangThe WORST!!! The female manager, Kalana, is a LIAR!!! I joined on 4/22 and was told by her that if I completed 12 sessions (plus the 60 minute intro session with the trainer…which I paid for, completed & didn’t get 60 minutes…long story) before 5/22 I’d get the next month (5/22-6/22 free). She also stated that if I canceled 30 days before 6/22 I wouldn’t incur the $60 maintenance fee.I completed the 12 sessions on 5/21 and was told I’d get the next month free. Well today, 5/22, I visited the facility after I was charged for 5/22-6/22 (although they told me I wouldn’t be charged) to cancel my membership. She refused to refund the $33.34 and stated that I’d be charged the $60 maintenance fee although I canceled 30 days before. She claims that contractually they can charge the initial $60 maintenance fee and that the free month wouldn’t apply until 6/22-7/22. I told her that’s not what she stated when I signed up. The bald male manager (didn’t catch his name) said they’d “waive” the $60 but rudely told me to take up the $33.34 with my bank.I hate that I didn’t take heed to the reviews. They’re not only dishonest crooks, but the gym is seriously lacking. The machines appear to be on their last leg, the environment is dark & bleak, at times they don’t even have cleaning products to wipe down the machines after use, and a few of the staff (trainers & definitely management) are not in good shape. Don’t waste your time or money visiting this location. Sucks that Moses and Victoria work there because they’re good trainers/facilitators. I liked the massage bed too and will miss it. Other than that, Crunch Greenpoint SUCKS!!!
May 22 · Sheryl PrinceI also got scammed out of close to $1000 here - don’t come! I tried to cancel my personal training twice (was told it was taken care of both times) and they kept charging me for sessions i never agreed to, and also randomly charged me $200 without a reason? I’ve been trying to get a refund for over 3 months but no one will help. They keep saying “they’ll get back to me” but no answers. I even had a meeting with the general manager set up to sort it out and he never showed. The worst and most infuriating experience I’ve ever had at a gym. No one cares about the members and to make it worse the equipment is old and a lot of it doesn’t work. DO NOT COME HERE! I’ve been a relatively content member for 5 years but it’s taken a nosedive. It’s not worth the cheaper price anymore.
April 22 · Shannon McCainSo this happens to be my second review now , and just have to give a huge shout out to who’s so ever idea it was to put this in the men’s shower area , big game changer and also made a huge difference in the stench that’s normally in there!! Thanks Crunch !!!
June 25 · Justin MissickI've been going to this gym for years solely because it's the only gym close to my house. It is poorly maintained, smells bad and always crowded.I tried to cancel and while my account showed no more payments, my card was still being charged. They pretended like they never received my cancellation request and have been charging me for months. When I kindly requested they refund at a min. this month and the annual fee that was charged this month, they said the best they could do is the refund the monthly fee. Not great customer service and not a place I want to return to.
