What truly makes the Coal Creek Family YMCA a compelling choice for families and individuals in the Washington region is its comprehensive, family-oriented approach and wide array of facilities. As one reviewer noted, it is a "gem" of a YMCA, offering a fantastic Kid Zone that keeps children together and happy while parents can get their workout in. The availability of multiple basketball courts, a swimming pool with slides, and a rock climbing wall provides endless opportunities for fun and fitness for all ages. The kind staff and ample parking also contribute to a positive and welcoming experience, making it a convenient and enjoyable place to visit.
However, it is important for potential members to be aware of some of the reported challenges. Some customers have expressed frustration with the administration's policies, particularly regarding payment and membership. Instances of billing mistakes that are not easily corrected have led to significant financial losses for some members, suggesting that the customer service and accountability in this area may be lacking. Additionally, the usability of key facilities like the swimming pool and basketball courts can be an issue. The lack of a reservation system for the pool can lead to overcrowding, while the basketball courts are often reserved for classes or full-court games, leaving little space for casual use or beginners. This can create a situation where, despite paying for a membership, access to certain amenities is limited or frustrating. While the amenities themselves are fantastic, potential members should consider these operational issues to ensure the Y meets their specific needs.

(I wish we had the time to enjoy).*Kind staff & plenty of parking.Hot tips!+ There is a trail literally next to the Y this is pretty.+More large nature trails with 5-7 mins driving distance.Check this Y out if in the area!
August 16 · Luis rodriguezThis gym is a classic example where people pay more but get less. If you carefully review comments here you’ll understand.1. They make mistakes on payment and receipt and are unwilling to correct mistakes. They mistakenly used my wife as the family membership owner which made me unable to reimburse my membership fee. Of course they admitted the mistake but unwilling to correct it. I lost thousands of dollars.2. Staff don’t care about your experience at all. E.g, today the roof is leaking and the floor under the basket is wet but they just closed the whole court even another half of the court is totally good. This is one of many examples. They just wanna get less trouble. That’s all.3. Swimming pool and basketball court is almost unusable. There is no reservation mechanism on swimming pool so it’s totally a mess. It’s really not so hard to have a reservation system to make much better experience but they are simply lazy to do so. Basketball court is the opposite. It’s reserved almost every weekday. One court will be used for children classes. Another court is used for full court game. If you’re a beginner or cannot join in the heavy competition due to injury, there is no space for you.
October 21 · b wMy children are part of the basketball team associated with YMCA, my husband is a member, I am not.Today we went to YMCA coal creek to watch my younger son play, everyone went in, I was denied access at the entrance. Now this is not the first time I came to be a spectator, I had gone through the process of entering all personal information, taking a picture on file, associating my information with the member, to get a piece of card that acts like a pass together with my drivers license for me to show to the staff at the entrance before I’ was allowed in.This time, they told me that I don’t have the right account to go watch my son play basketball. I was asked to go to the front desk, give my drivers license to the staff again, give my children’s name and birthday, then log into their web site to create an account, where I had to enter:1 my legal names2 my date of birth mm/dd/yyyy3 email4 phone numberIn addition to all these, I have to provide an emergency contact and their email and phone number, and signing four waivers including one data privacy document which the staff told me is to establish protection of YMCA not the person who registers. Which makes no sense. When asked why does YMCA need all the personally identifiable information just for a mom to sit in the gym to cheer her son on in a basketball game, the staff coldly replied “this is a requirement from YMCA.” When I asked them, why do I need to create an account with YMCA when as an individual, I don’t use any of its facilities other than…maybe a chair? The answer was again dismissive. This is for us to do background checks on everyone to prevent sex offenders. (This might be true for employees applying to work at YMCA, but to a mom to watch her son play basketball?!)After going through all the steps they asked me to do, providing all my PII data to a place I don’t wish to become a member of, I was given the permission to enter. Only to miss my son score and the entire of first quarter. Behind me was a grandma visiting out of town, and they put her through that degrading and painful process too.I was a member of YMCA coal creek for a little while, only to be deterred by the unsanitary treadmill and decided to cancel my membership. Throughout my life, there was only one company that would enrage me this much with unnecessary policies and condescending attitude to have me sworn to boycott for life.YMCA Coal creek is now the second one. We are now actively looking for other basketball programs that do not require using YMCA facilities.Ironic how for a place prides in promoting the sense of community when they make it so difficult for non-members to engage. The entire experience was like applying to a top tier gym, the differences are it is not. And that I wasn’t interested in becoming a member at all, I just wanted to watch my child play basketball.
May 03 · Michelle CuiI need to update my review as they have finally opened back up. I went into update my membership in a gentleman named Lewis was very helpful with my insurance. He did hit a snag and Maura came over and was also very wonderful and pleasant. I asked if they had the keychain membership cards and Lewis took it upon himself to cut mine down and put a hole in it. That's called innovation at its best!*** I write honest reviews and if you agree with this, please hit the like button!
July 09 · Todd BrusaLove this Y location; it’s one of the two branches I visit regularly. The main gym layout is spacious and well-maintained with three separate squat racks and plenty of available machines. The seating area on the second floor is also ideal to get a bit of work done around workouts.
