★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1A great fight club owned by a Women's Boxing Hall of Famer. The crowd at the amateur event was amazing. It was family friendly.
October 29 · Lisa MaydwellThis was my first time to see any big boxing club. Legend Johny Gant owner of Atlanta Art of Boxing Center couching since 2002. He gave a me a complete visit of facility. Explained about couching from beginning to professional level and told how his parter WIBF World Champion “Terry Moss” running this place successfully. Terry Moss is best in class in couching, unfortunately she was out of town and I missed chance to meet her.
January 26 · F KNow as a disclaimer I do believe that reviews are often reflection of one bad experience and not a cumulative fair assessment. I previously used to attend this gym and take their boxing fitness class and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The instructors are amazing and very warm and it is welcome for all skill levels. The only con is sometimes the class can be very overcrowded and you could end up sharing your bag with someone, which if you’ve ever boxed before is a total nightmare. Recently, I have been taking boxing lessons for several months and wanted to sign up for their advanced class for more of a challenge, and not only did they turn me away, but they turned me away without a fair assessment of my skill level, they had me warm up on the jump ropes and then told me to join the junior class. The customer service was lacking and the owner of the gym just kept sending a messenger to talk to me without actually addressing me and she was standing 20 ft away. I felt incredibly rejected and disrespected and felt they were not living up to the reputation as a training gym, if they are turning away people who need training. Moreover the gym owner clearly has favorites as she allows her inexperienced 14 year old daughter in the advanced class who it lollygagging instead of actually training people who want to be better. The receptionist knows absolutely nothing, don’t bother asking any questions as she’ll just give a very empty smile and state she has no idea. The customer experience here could be far improved as well as the professionalism, cleanliness and organization. Wasted my time and I left incredibly disappointed . 2/5.
July 27 · Acacia SSo first off, this is just my experience at this gym, and hopefully yours is different! The gym itself is pretty big; they have one main ring and one smaller ring usually set up with heavy bags and such throughout. Front desk staff are nice and they have some awesome pro boxers who are always down to give advice. However, the gym itself has some major issues. If you are looking for any sort of personal attention, this is probably not the place to go. The classes are gigantic, and if you happen to be training any time school is in session, it is likely 50+ Georgia Tech students will be added to the mix as well. Often there will be one coach for over 20 people, in both the beginner and advanced classes. For beginners this might be just fine, since the classes are mostly just for exercise anyways. For the advanced classes, this makes it very difficult to learn technique or receive any sort of feedback on your performance. For these huge classes, the ring is often divided into 5 sections- 2 people for each corner and 2 people in the middle. A total of 10 people will be in the ring at one time drilling while a single coach watches. After a few rounds, 10 different people will sub into the ring to do the same drill. Often the resulting feedback from exercises like this would be something like "just practice more", which is pretty unhelpful for someone trying to learn proper boxing technique. After a few months of getting 1 round of pads A WEEK with the coach, them constantly forgetting my name amongst the sea of Georgia Tech students, and the only feedback being provided to us was to "just practice", I was pretty burnt out from the gym. This gym is probably great if you're a pro or a novice but not really for anything in-between.
August 13 · Matthew MeehanThe staff there is fantastic. I love how Andy greets me at the door and is very amicable to everyone. Andy is also very helpful with answering questions. Juan and Jazz are great instructors. The atmosphere at the gym is very positive. I have really enjoyed coming to this gym.
