The boutique format—focusing on small group classes and personalized attention—ensures that every participant receives the necessary feedback and motivation to safely push their limits. Located in the cultural epicenter of the Castro, the center's mission is to provide an offering that is inclusive to "every BODY," a commitment deeply appreciated by its diverse clientele. This focus on inclusivity is a core identity, supported by the fact that BODY. is proudly Black-owned and LGBTQ-owned.
The core offering is based around high-intensity, instructor-led sessions, exemplified by popular formats like Kickboxing and Aerobics, and specialized classes such as 'Fight Club,' 'Glutes & Core,' and 'Functional Movement Patterns.' The training is structured to be challenging but accessible, with the owner Daivya providing the "perfect blend of enthusiastic but also motivating + challenging coach," ensuring beginners feel comfortable while seasoned participants are constantly pushed to improve. The high level of personal attention in a small group setting bridges the gap between private training and the affordability of group fitness, making BODY. a high-value proposition for the conscious California consumer. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I randomly walked past BODY in the Castro and decided to peek inside—Daivya, the owner, welcomed me in and invited me to try a class. I’m so glad I said yes! It was my first-ever boxing class, and it was incredible. Daivya is such an inspiring and supportive instructor—she made me feel comfortable as a beginner while pushing me to give it my all. I left absolutely drenched in sweat, but also smiling ear to ear. The energy in the studio is amazing—fun, challenging, and full of community vibes. I can’t wait to come back and keep learning!
August 27 · Cassidy SchweiboldLove this place! Small group classes, most led by the owner Daivya who is the perfect blend of enthusiastic but also motivating + challenging coach. She makes the classes super fun, and before I know it, the workout is done and we crushed it.
December 18 · Melinda ChungDaivya provides individualized feedback during classes, and these adjustments make a huge difference to how effectively you hit your muscles. She also leads prenatal and postnatal classes which are a rarity between the marina and noe, and she has a level of expertise with how to accommodate prenatal/postnatal that I haven’t found with other studios
August 30 · Katarina MakmuriI only found BODY. recently, and I'm kicking myself for not trying it out before because it's AMAZING. The owner, Daivya, is motivating, welcoming, kickass, fun, and super knowledgeable. There are a many of different small group classes available - from Fight Club, Step, Low body Impact, Total Body Reset, Glutes & Core, Deep Stretch & Mobility and more! Those are the ones I've tried so far and I'm always impressed with the variety, difficulty, and playlist! Daivya is great at giving adjustments and pushing you to be better. Some exercise classes you just go in, get the workout in, and leave - but Daivya is a natural at building community and relationships with all.So thankful to have found BODY!My star rating:5 ⭐ - I would be a regular customer4 ⭐- would go back again3 ⭐ - probably try a different place2 ⭐ - not very satisfied1 ⭐ - turnaround and run
April 07 · Katie ChungI've always been a big fan of group workouts, but all my favorite studios in the Mission/Castro area shut down during COVID. There was a good three years where I was hopping from studio to studio, trying to find my new go-to.I started working out at Body SF about two years ago, and it's now my favorite studio in the city. The owner and trainer Daivya has such a fun and encouraging attitude, and she's super attentive to everyone in the class. I can always expect challenging workouts, great playlists, and friendly company. Highly recommend this studio!
