Ascent Fitness goes beyond the typical gym experience by adopting a body-neutral and anti-diet philosophy. This means the focus is on joyful movement, celebrating all body types, and rejecting the harmful stigma often associated with fitness culture. For many, the gym can be an intimidating place, but a review from a real customer highlights how Ascent provided a "soft place to land" after a major life event, helping them rebuild strength and confidence. This sentiment is a testament to the gym's mission: to support each person's unique journey with kindness and wisdom. The coaches are highly capable and consistently praised for their expertise in providing modifications and personalized advice, ensuring every member feels seen and supported. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Ascent is the best gym I've ever experienced. The trainers are fantastic and capable of meeting your needs and recommending modifications at the drop of a hat. Coming back from a hysterectomy, I was nervous to workout, but Ascent was a soft place for me to land. I rebuilt my strength and confidence. Beyond that, I found a community. I'm encouraged to push myself, but also listen to my body. I recommend it to anyone looking for a place to continue or start their journey of strength or wellbeing.
June 22 · Rielle SCan’t say enough good things about Ascent! The gym itself is great, programming is smart, and coaches know their stuff. But the highlight here is the community! It’s super inclusive and welcoming, and the coaches and members really care and want you to succeed. Highly recommend!
August 10 · Katie FeeleyI'm a 3 year member of Ascent, a longtime psychologist at an eating disorder clinic, and cannot say enough positive things about Ascent Fitness! The values of the gym are embraced by all coaches and members and include creating a fun, positive, community-based gym space focused on joyful movement. You will never find diet or weight-loss challenges here and all body shapes, sizes, and identities are (not just accepted but) celebrated. I have many clients and colleagues who live in the Seattle area who WISH they were close enough to join Ascent. It's one of a kind and the best I've ever experienced!! I hope they're around forever!
June 26 · Melissa MulickI love Ascent Fitness! I started here back in fall 2024 and then took a break at the start of 2025 to try out the YMCA. I realized quickly the Y was not for me and have returned to Ascent. I really love their commitment to inclusivity when it comes to body diversity, as well as queer and trans folks, and they are great at including this representation on their site and social media. Ascent really lives their values and I greatly appreciate that. Every workout starts with a question of the day and everyone is invited to share their name and pronouns. Every coach I’ve had the opportunity of working out with is amazing and they always offer modifications before anyone even asks. The workouts are about 45 minutes and organized into about 3 parts. I always feel like I can go at my own pace and I never feel shamed for where I’m at. Ascent Fitness has been a healing balm for my past experiences with toxic gym culture and performativity, which has really allowed me to pay attention and listen to my body. Ascent Fitness is a perfect continuation of my journey in movement and fitness and feels the most like home I’ve ever felt in fitness environments. I appreciate the hell out of y’all! Keep up the good work!
June 19 · Heath HaydenI’ve been able to find the joy in movement again at Ascent, thanks to the inclusive, body positive community they’ve created! The gym’s coaches and my fellow members have helped me feel more confident in my own strength. The workouts are fun and challenging, and coaches offer helpful modifications upfront.Pre-Ascent I’d gone to different gyms but never quite felt like I fit. Ascent was different from day one, and after 3 years I can confidently saying going to this gym - especially the powerlifting classes - is one of the best parts of my weekly routine.
