AntiGravity LAB Introduce
In a city where space is at a premium and a traditional workout can sometimes feel mundane, AntiGravity LAB offers a truly unique and exhilarating escape. Located in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, this studio is the headquarters of the original AntiGravity® Fitness technique, founded by renowned choreographer Christopher Harrison. It's not your typical yoga class; instead, it uses a specialized silk hammock to support your body, allowing you to float, swing, and invert with ease. This innovative practice is designed to decompress the spine, build core strength, and increase flexibility in a playful and liberating way. For New Yorkers looking to break free from the conventional gym routine and try something completely new, AntiGravity LAB provides a safe and creative space to explore movement in a three-dimensional plane.
The atmosphere at AntiGravity LAB is designed to be both welcoming and experimental, living up to its name. It is a place where new techniques and programs are tested and where new instructors are trained, making every class a chance to experience the cutting edge of aerial fitness. The studio is known for its high-energy and fun-filled sessions that can melt away stress and leave you in a great mood, as noted by one enthusiastic customer review. The feeling of weightlessness and the ability to achieve poses that might be difficult on the ground make the experience incredibly rewarding. While the studio's atmosphere is generally welcoming, it is worth noting that some instructors have very distinct teaching styles, and it's recommended to find the one that best suits your personality and learning style. The inclusive environment is a core value, with the studio being explicitly LGBTQ+ friendly and a designated transgender safespace.
The overall vibe is one of exploration and self-discovery, inviting you to "let go" and find joy in movement. This makes it a perfect fit for a city that constantly seeks innovation and new experiences. The presence of friendly staff, clean facilities, and amenities like a water dispenser and well-maintained changing rooms also contributes to a comfortable and positive experience for all who visit.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Christopher is clearly knowledgeable—he mentioned founding anti-gravity yoga and guided us through a well-rounded session that included stretching, strength work, and inversions. However, his humor is a central part of the experience and may not be for everyone. For example, he joked that we had to laugh while swinging or he’d come “tickle” us—but his tone and presence made it feel more like a command than a suggestion. His feedback can also feel insensitive to different abilities and learning styles. A few beginners, who appeared new to anti-gravity yoga and were visibly struggling, was told, “No… no! / Figure it out! / Just try to look like me!”—which didn’t seem supportive, especially as the students looked uncomfortable and didn’t engage with the humor.Photos were also taken on an iPhone (unclear if it belonged to Christopher or the studio) and Airdropped at the end; you can opt out during class if you prefer not to be photographed.Toward the end, the studio’s small dog joined us in a hammock and barked to “help wake us up.” If you have pet allergies, it’s a good idea to call ahead and ask about accommodations. The studio itself is clean, with friendly staff, a water dispenser, and well-maintained changing rooms and restrooms.I would still recommend the studio overall—it has a welcoming atmosphere, and I had a great experience with another instructor. If you’re newer to anti-gravity yoga or prefer a more hands-on, supportive approach with a different teaching style, you might find another instructor at the studio to be a better fit.
July 29 · A PI would give Antigravity Yoga 10 stars if I could! I tried aerial yoga for the first time and found the instructions clear, easy to understand and follow. I had a great workout and the most fun doing it. Didn't want the class to end! Melted all my stress away, and left in a great mood, SO GOOD! 🙌
March 06 · Haley StephensonSuch a great class and I was absolutely terrified to go since I’m deeply out of shape and the heaviest I’ve been in a while. Embarrassingly, I was the only one sweating profusely and also fell trying to hop into the hammock but everyone was lovely and Molly was SO encouraging, kind, and clear. She looked everyone in the eye and asked for their name and was slow, steady and specific when teaching. She brings such great positive energy, particularly for me as a beginner. I’m still scared but definitely going to go back.
April 01 · Bekah DicksteinIn love with this place. A workout one is inspired, not dreading to do 😅 so fun, yet challenging; slow paced but so energizing. And instructors are so kind and professional (and they remember everyone’s names!!). Thank you 🙏
July 28 · Lena MaksadBeen to antigravity lab quite a few times because I just fell in love with it. The founder of the school teaches and he’s a great coach. He really encourages you to do your best, nothing more nothing less. Awesome classes!! My abs are already getting stronger just after a few classes.
