★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I am extremely happy with my membership here. Compared to the price of individual classes, you really don't need to attend often at all for it to be cheapest to buy an unlimited class membership that comes with some nice perks like a limited number of free classes for guests and space at the studio to store your equipment. The classes have a lot of variety to help you find the type of yoga you like, and all the instructors I've worked with have also been extremely knowledgeable about how to adjust the class and your individual poses to the needs and quirks of your own body. Everyone, both teachers, staff, and students, is incredibly friendly, and I have on several occasions come into a morning class feeling overwhelming sadness or hurt from stress in my life and had teachers or fellow students offer unprompted kindness and comfort that has made me feel incredibly at peace for its sincerity. In addition to the classes they also have a variety of other services like selling equipment for a variety of price ranges, selling various locally made items like tea and incense, and have a few other services like camps and teacher training I've never tried but seen others speak very positively about.I always look forward to class when I'm able to make it, which I try to do as much as I'm able to. Coming is a joy and sets the rest of my day up for success, peace, and productivity.Give it a try!
August 12 · Dwight GuthI'm astounded that I haven't chosen to write a review sooner. The Amara yoga studio is a stronghold to the urbana community. Here is where people come to practice in the morning before the Urbana farmers market. Here is where people get their hot flow almost every night of the week. Here is where you can deep dive into the fundamentals of yoga with extraordinary teachers. We are lucky to have this space to gather and practice.
November 27 · Sarah ColemanEvelyn really opened my chakras — and possibly my third mortgage. I came in stressed and stiff, and left feeling like a freshly boiled noodle floating through the cosmos. At one point during class, I’m 87% sure I saw my spirit animal wink at me. Evelyn whispered ‘breathe’ and suddenly I was crying, laughing, and remembering my AOL password from 2004. 10/10 would transcend again
April 30 · travis bickleI have been practicing yoga for 13 years. I've been to many yoga studios around the country in my life, but Amara is the first studio I've ever chosen to get a membership to. Every class I've attended has been wonderful. The teachers are excellent, respectful, and kind. The other students are very welcoming, as well. I'm so happy to have found a yoga studio to call home in Urbana.
March 11 · Emily VenturellaI am a studio assistant at Amara and just recently started about 2 weeks ago. Amara offers unique classes and workshops for inexperienced (like myself) to experienced yoga friends! If you're a member you are able to take guests and if you're an assistant you get help tidy up the studio but also get the perks of taking the classes that are offered here!I have taken classes before but have never felt inclined to go back due to lack of community and atmosphere. The staff, instructors and community here is definitely one that is vibrant, welcoming and work together as a team.If you're looking for a place to learn yoga or simply relax and practice yoga with experienced instructors and a wonderful community–Amara offers a unique experience for all friends!
