Located conveniently in Chicago, this specialized gym offers a unique, efficient, and electrifying full-body workout that has proven to be an ideal solution for residents looking to prioritize their health.
9Round Kickboxing Fitness is not a traditional gym; it’s a circuit-style fitness center that uses the powerful, engaging principles of kickboxing. What sets it apart is the proprietary system: a 30-minute, nine-station circuit that combines kickboxing, strength training, cardio, and core work. The full workout is professionally led by a certified trainer every time, ensuring members get personalized attention, proper form guidance, and constant motivation. This format eliminates the need for fixed class times, meaning a new workout starts every three minutes. You simply show up when you can, and a Champion Trainer is ready to lead you through the circuit, making fitness perfectly adaptable to the unpredictable schedule of Illinois life.
The atmosphere at the 9Round Lakeview location is high-energy, supportive, and specifically designed to relieve stress while blasting calories. The core philosophy is "Get Fit, Never Hit," focusing on punching and kicking heavy bags and speed bags, not people, ensuring a fun and safe environment for all fitness levels. Whether you are a complete beginner who has never put on a pair of boxing gloves or a seasoned athlete, the daily-changing workouts ensure you are always challenged and never bored, keeping you engaged and on the path to crushing your fitness goals.

9Round offers a focused and powerful fitness program built on the principles of kickboxing and circuit training.
- 30-Minute Full-Body Kickboxing Workouts: The core offering is a high-intensity interval training (HIIT) circuit that guarantees a full-body workout in just half an hour. The circuit is divided into nine, three-minute rounds with active 30-second breaks in between, maximizing calorie burn and muscle engagement.
- Trainer-Led Experience (Included with Membership): Every single workout is led by a 9Round Certified Trainer. They provide motivation, demonstrate proper technique and form, offer modifications for all fitness levels, and ensure you are pushing yourself safely throughout the entire 30 minutes.
- Daily Changing Workouts: Routines are changed every day, ensuring members never hit a plateau or experience boredom. The workout structure covers three key phases:
- Strength Training (Rounds 1-2): Utilizes weights, kettlebells, medicine balls, and other equipment to build lean muscle.
- Kickbox Fitness (Rounds 3-8): The main event, involving punching and kicking heavy bags and speed bags to build power, coordination, and stamina.
- Abs & Core (Round 9): Dedicated time to tighten and strengthen the core muscles.
- 9RoundNOW Virtual Workouts: An exclusive feature providing members with access to an extensive library of on-demand boxing and kickboxing workouts via a mobile app, allowing for flexibility to work out anytime, anywhere—perfect for when you can’t make it to the Chicago studio.
- Personal Training Experience: Fully customized, one-on-one coaching sessions are available with 9Round Certified Trainers for those seeking a hyper-tailored approach to their individual fitness goals.
The unique features of 9Round Kickboxing Fitness in Chicago are what make it a stand-out choice for the local community:
- No Set Class Times: This is a defining feature. The circuit starts a new round every three minutes, meaning you are never late. You can simply show up on your schedule and jump right into the workout. This flexibility is invaluable for fitting fitness into a busy, changing routine.
- Trainer Included with Every Session: Unlike many gyms where personal training costs extra, a Champion Trainer is included with your membership, providing semi-private instruction and personalized guidance to maximize your results and keep you motivated.
- PULSE™ Heart Rate Technology: Members can utilize the optional wearable heart rate technology to track their effort in real-time on a monitor. This ensures you stay within your optimal fat-burning and cardiovascular training zones, providing data-driven accountability and measurable results.
- Comprehensive Wellness Support: Membership includes access to online nutritional support, including recipes and expert tips, which complements the physical workout to achieve a complete body transformation.
- Immediate Stress Relief: Customers frequently cite the ability to punch and kick away stress on the bags as a major benefit. This provides a healthy, physical outlet for mental tension, leaving you energized and mentally clear.

Great instructors! I couldn't commit to a membership at this time, but really enjoyed the trial session.
July 13 · Andrew FoleyI’m having such a great time being a part of 9R. I don’t struggle to keep up with my workouts anymore, knowing that I’m in and out in 30 minutes is encouraging to keep coming.Peter has been so helpful at every step of the way!100% recommended
March 31 · Jorge Catrain OstárizBefore the pandemic I was a member at a different 9R location for about a year and a half and was unquestionably in the best shape of my life. Post-pandemic I've tried different gyms, workout routines, etc., but nothing has been quite right. I finally decided to come back to 9R and have been at the Lakeview location for about a month now and I'm already reminded exactly why I love this format and why it works so well for me.Exercising unfortunately bores me easily, so the daily changing routines is perfect. I've also never been one who can show up to a gym and just throw together a routine myself, so it's fantastic that there's always a trainer there to show you the moves, correct your form, encourage you, etc. Peter and Aaron specifically are awesome and have both been great with providing modifications for injuries too.Another huge plus is that there are no class times, so as long as the place is open you can show up whenever and hop right in. Like other reviewers have said, it's pleasantly surprising each and every time how much you can cram into a 30 minute workout and how much better you feel, both mentally and physically, when you're done. Hope to be coming to 9R Lakeview for years to come :)
March 27 · Monica M SkibbieI absolutely love 9Round so far! Being able to be in and out in 30 minutes with a customized/effective workout that varies every single day keeps me hooked and wanting to come back. Both Peter and Aaron are a joy to work with.
February 18 · Cassandra Weiler9Rs is stellar. The concept’s pretty simple. But effective. Nine rounds at progressive exercise stations. Three minutes each. 1 cardio. 1 weight toning. 6 gloves-on and on the bags. 1 abs/core. All with 30-second HIIT intervals in between. They put this all on a board for you, and the PA system announces the flash rounds. The instructors pull you off the bags every so often to weave in 1-on-1 work. I’m surprised how fast those 33 minutes go and how much stronger you feel squeezing all that in that half hour too. It fits into your day quite nicely.I’ve been going to the Lakeview location since 2019. Then the pandemic hit. When things picked up, I was traveling back/forth to CA and ended up at a gym down the street. Perfectly fine. But after two years I hit a plateau and simply got bored of the routines and all the machines. Peter and team have made working out interesting again and something I look forward to. After a while they get to know you and can read your energy level, so they challenge you when the moment’s right. I’ve certainly paid less for a monthly membership. And I’ve also paid the premium for more. The fee seems reasonable when you weigh in having a sort of personal trainer or coach and a customized work out waiting for you each time. Also, comes with gloves and wraps.I’m a *big fan* for two reasons. First, you can drop in whenever you like. There’s no set class and no reservations. You can work out at 7:00 on the dot. 8:22. 10:15. Doesn’t matter. You simply rotate in as soon as you’re wrapped up. Second, I’ve crossed the 200-workout milestone and have never had the same 9-station routine. Not once. Good for mixing things up so your body doesn’t get used to the monotony. And even better for my very short attention span. One thing I’m especially glad to see: it’s for all shapes, sizes, and fitness notches. You’re in there to do *your own* personal best. Some days will be better than others. But it is work. You get what you want out of it. You can toe-tap the bags lightly. Or you can punch hard. It’s up to you every session to chart what results you want to see. Go at your own comfort level. There’s technique. There’s having fun. And there’s feeling badass. I don’t see why you can’t do all three in a work out. It’s also great for your mental health. And some days I genuinely have needed it.You really can just drop-in and they’ll rotate you in on the spot or you can fill out the online form. They’ll text you and answer any questions you have before you stop by to try it out. Or reply/DM me. I’ve referred a few friends and happy to share what I know, but this should cover the basics 🥊🥊
