★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Overpriced and MisleadingAvoid 1983 Gym!!I had high hopes when I joined 1983’s mini Gym, the Old run down Survival gym. it has been nothing short of a disappointment. First and foremost, the gym is incredibly small, making it feel cramped, especially during peak hours. You can hardly move without bumping into someone. One of the biggest red flags for me was discovering that the personal trainers are not certified. This is a huge concern for anyone looking for professional guidance and support on their fitness journey. It makes it hard to trust the advice or training methods they offer. I amStill waiting for proof of any certification.Additionally, the lack of showers is unacceptable for a gym that charges $120 a month. After a workout, there’s nowhere to freshen up, which is a major inconvenience for those of us who fit workouts into our busy schedules. The bathroom situation is particularly awkward, as they are located at the front of the gym. With members present in full attendance, it’s uncomfortable when you can hear the sounds of urination splashing into the toilet, followed by the flush. It detracts from the overall gym experience and makes it feel less professional. The parking lot is another issue; it has large dumpsters that create a terrible odor that leaks into the rear building. It’s not exactly motivating to walk past that smell every time you arrive for a workout.Additionally, the gym feels overpriced for what it offers. $120 a month mini gym!Lastly, the gym gets incredibly crowded during peak times, making it difficult to find equipment or have a good workout. I wouldn’t recommend this gym until they address these issues. They market themselves as a boutique gym, but the reality is that they seem more focused on making a profit by enrolling as many clients as possible rather than providing quality service or facilities. It feels disingenuous, and I regret choosing this gym. Save your money and look elsewhere!
March 15 · DebbyBeen a member for about a year and best decision I’ve made in my fitness journey. The owner and his team curated a welcoming and friendly environment. The 1983 team are knowledgeable, attentive and always available for tips and recommendations. The gym is always clean, they’re constantly upgrading equipment and have a sauna/recovery room.
March 22 · Andrew WilliamsFirst and foremost I would like to say that the owner John is amazing. He is truly a super nice person and very knowledgeable. I met the owner before the gym actually became more mainstream. I do have to say my reason for giving the gym 4 stars is literally just his training staff.I was going there for months and I always was greeted until maybe 3-4 months ago. One of his personal trainers Nicole had said some side comments as she was training, because I had my headphones in, she probably thought I did not overhear. He has another male trainer that greets everybody and specifically when I would walk in, totally ignored not even a smile. To be honest I am not sure why some of his staff is not welcoming to everybody. They always greet their own personal clients so it should be the same with everybody else.At the end of the day the gym does have great machines and if you know the good times to go, you go in, and you go home. Unfortunately just like at any other gym if you see somebody struggling or maybe new to the gym I hope the staff can be nicer and willing to help. People pay the price to come to this gym because it's worth the price, and the machines are amazing. I am hoping moving forward they can work on their customer service.
April 12 · Who IsitNothing but positive things to say! Owners are welcoming and know you by name. Space is always tidy and organized. I especially enjoy the community and camaraderie between everyone there! I’ll be there for years to come
