The Yoga Space Introduce
Introduction / Overview: A Sanctuary of Lineage and Transformation in Oregon
For residents of Portland and the wider Oregon region seeking more than just a physical workout, The Yoga Space stands as a true sanctuary and a distinguished school of yoga. Located in the heart of the city, this studio is celebrated for its deep commitment to lineage-based practices, offering an authentic, transformative experience rooted in the classical traditions of yoga. The Yoga Space is not merely a place to attend a class; it is an institution dedicated to the holistic education of both students and future teachers.
Under the guidance of owner Michele Loew, an international yoga teacher and practitioner, the studio curriculum is founded in the rich tradition of Krishnamacharya. This unique approach skillfully blends the dynamic Vinyasa flow and internal form found in the Ashtanga system, the precise alignment instructions and supported poses of the Iyengar system, and the individual modifications emphasized by Desikachar. This sophisticated blend ensures that every student, regardless of their level or physical condition, can access the practice safely and effectively.
The atmosphere within The Yoga Space is consistently praised by local users, who describe the studio as beautiful, possessing an "amazing vibe," and staffed by teachers and front desk personnel who are exceptionally "warm and welcoming." The mission is clear: to offer a place of refuge where community members can find relief from the stress of modern life through ritual, reflection, philosophy, and mindful movement. This deep commitment to the integrity of the practice and the well-being of its community members makes The Yoga Space a true gem in Portland’s wellness scene.
The business proudly identifies as women-owned, and in a reflection of its foundational commitment to inclusivity, it maintains an environment that is distinctly LGBTQ+ friendly and a designated Transgender safespace. This intentional effort to create an accessible and supportive community further solidifies its reputation as one of the best and most welcoming yoga studios in the Pacific Northwest.

June 09 · Lillie JunkerAbsolutely amazing yoga studio - we had one class with Allie. It was a good restorative flow, with sound bath at the end. Very clean overall and the large room with the glass windows gives a one-of-a-kind experience with great accoustics. I’d come here more often if I’d live in the area.
