The Strong DNA Introduce
For California residents in the La Crescenta-Montrose and surrounding Foothills communities, finding a fitness center that truly aligns with long-term health and aging goals can be a challenge. Most gyms focus heavily on aesthetics and high-volume, generic workouts that don't account for the unique physiological needs of adults, particularly those over the age of 40. This is where The Strong DNA distinguishes itself as a premier, specialized fitness center, moving far beyond the typical gym model to offer programming with a distinct purpose.
The Strong DNA is not just a place to use equipment; it is an adult training facility founded on the philosophy that fitness should be sustainable, individualized, and effective for increasing longevity. It is widely recognized as the area’s only gym specializing in fitness for the over-40 demographic, a critical focus for residents concerned with bone density, metabolic health, and maintaining strength as they age. Their programming philosophy is top-notch and uniquely tailored, ensuring every client receives personalized attention regardless of whether they are in a private or a small-group setting. The coaches here genuinely care, fostering a community that feels welcoming, supportive, and diverse in age and ability—a far cry from the intimidating atmosphere often found elsewhere.
The core of The Strong DNA’s success lies in its balanced approach: a specialized strength program designed to increase strength, build muscle, and boost bone density, combined with a unique cardio and endurance program for a healthy heart and lungs. The general programming expertly blends strength, conditioning, and endurance, focusing on foundational movements using cutting-edge tools like Kettlebells, TRX, Sandbags, and Barbells. This deliberate, science-backed methodology ensures clients not only see impressive results but also develop the confidence to perform strength training without feeling intimidated. Clients often report coming in tired and rushed but leaving every session feeling "invincible." This focus on making "moving your body fun" while delivering profound, lasting health benefits is what makes The Strong DNA a standout institution in the Southern California fitness landscape.
Operating as a specialized training facility, The Strong DNA requires appointments for sessions to maintain the quality and personalized nature of its coaching. This is not a traditional open gym but a coaching-first environment, ensuring that a professional is always guiding your workout. This structure is what allows them to deliver such customized results and individualized programming based on each person’s specific goals.

For those in Southern California, particularly in the La Crescenta-Montrose, Glendale, and Pasadena areas, The Strong DNA is the definitive choice for fitness because it addresses the essential need for age-appropriate, purpose-driven training. If you are over 40, your fitness requirements are different from those in their twenties, and this center is the rare local facility built entirely around those differences.

This supportive environment ensures that clients not only stick with their program but actually look forward to their weekday mornings.
In an area where many fitness options exist, The Strong DNA stands out as a genuine partner in lifelong health. It offers a tangible promise: programming with purpose that keeps you strong as you age, making it the most sensible and effective investment in your physical future.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The Strong DNA is the Best gym in the foothills for people over 40. Programming with purpose that keeps you strong as you age. Ara’s philosophy, and programming for his semi private, and private programs is top notch and individualized for each person’s goals. His group programming is the right mix of strength, conditioning and endurance. I can’t recommend this place enough. I love it here! Great clients and great coaches that truly care.
June 14 · Korelle CurrieMy favorite weekday mornings are the ones I get up early to attend group classes at The Strong DNA. Ara and his team of coaches are focused, personable, and very encouraging. I’ve always felt too intimidated to do strength training at a gym, but the students here are friendly and diverse in age and ability. Personal training sessions with Ara allow me to hone in on developing strength and endurance—with the added bonus of choosing the workout music. I sometimes come in tired and rushed, but always leave feeling invincible. The Strong DNA makes moving your body fun.
May 24 · Roberta L.I had the pleasure of working with Coach Ara, and I can confidently say that he is both highly professional and genuinely caring. From the very beginning, he took the time to understand every detail about my body—my age, nutrition, and unique body type—to craft a personalized training program that exceeded my expectations. His attention to detail, deep knowledge, and commitment to my progress truly set him apart. It’s clear that he cares deeply about his clients’ well-being and success. StrongDNA Gym, under Coach Ara’s guidance, is more than just a place to train—it’s a place where you’re supported, understood, and empowered to become your best self.
May 15 · Ardalan MohajerThe Strong DNA gym is a revelation!Ara, the owner, is incredibly friendly and exceptionally knowledgeable, especially when it comes to fitness for those over 40. His expertise in tailoring programs for this age group is unmatched. Ara's guidance ensures workouts that are effective and safe, focusing on strength and mobility. I highly recommend The Strong DNA gym to anyone seeking age-appropriate fitness, and especially to those looking to benefit from Ara's outstanding expertise and scientific approach to staying fit.
March 10 · Adam JedovszkyAra has really changed my life! I started at the gym a year ago and have seen great results. It's been the most consistent I've ever been in my workout routine and he's helped me steadily progress without ever getting injured. I'm on the 3/week semi-private training plan and it's worked great for my schedule. As you build a relationship with Ara he's really good at customizing a plan that's right for your goals. I've realized I'm not a super self-motivated person when it comes to fitness, and for me it's been amazing to trust another person to build my program. I just show up and do the plan. Also that little bit of accountability that comes from someone checking up on you has really helped me stay consistent. This gym is also very clean and has a very welcoming, judgement free atmosphere. I've always been more self-conscious in gyms, but here nobody cares. It's chill. And it works for all different people -- there are elderly people and young people, people who've been working out a long time or people who are just getting started. I've done plenty of the group classes too and they're progressive so if you're a beginner or you're advanced, you'll still get a lot out of them. Ara isn't like any trainer I've worked with in the past -- he's like, a real person you can actually have a conversation with. That's a nice thing to have when you see someone every morning :).This gym is great for people who's primary goal is to not get injured, maintain steady progress, and work out in a chill environment.
