★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1What sickens me about this gym is that they are raising the price of the gym with zero additions or benefits… they’re just money hungry and trying to take advantage of people. We have to pay more for the membership, even though you can’t even work out because the gym is packed 24/7. Every time I go here it’s crowded and there are zero free workout machines. I would love to get an answer as to why they’re raising the prices… you have a price raise after 12 months, and then another price raise. This company is the epitome of corporate greed. Unfortunately they’re getting one payment out of me before my membership is done. I love that I’m paying 34.99 for a gym that’s at max capacity all the time. 🙄 I hope more and more people cancel. Stop supporting companies that notify you they’re raising the price a month before they do it.
June 25 · MI wont give 1 star because from just walking in, the gym looked great with a lot of brand new equipment. The one issue was the manager, or the person dressed in the red shirt. Upon walking in earlier in the afternoon at appx 530pm, I stated that I had a guest pass and didnt need a tour as I could check it out myself. I also stated I was just here for the week for work. After handing my ID, the front desk gentleman asked for the person in red because they supposedly dont take out of state IDs. I didnt feel like the need to explain myself that I was here for work and was possibly considering this gym long term as I was here to possibly move here long term. The manager, or the man in red shirt, stated that because it was an out of state ID, he was going to charge me $50 for a guest pass. It doesn’t state that anywhere on the website and he clearly wanted to be a hassle as I was already in my gym clothes and just asked him once more to honor the 3 day guest pass I received via email. Obviously his manager ego was in the way and the gym lost a potential customer because of his “wonderful customer experience”.
July 16 · Abraham AvilesI want to love this gym but I just can’t because it’s completely inaccessible to me. It’s packed full 24/7. I have not been able to find a reasonable time that’s not 4am where this gym doesn’t have a person every 3 feet. I am disabled and have to use the machines to reduce my risk of injury that free weights could cause. But every single machine is busy every single time I come here. The stretching area is crowded, the cardio areas are crowded, the machine areas are crowded, the free weights are crowded. They clearly over sell gym memberships here and are pushing the max capacity at all times. I would hate to be here when an emergency happens. I’d probably be trampled to death by the 100+ people packed into this gym at once trying to get out.
July 07 · Rey BennettThe assistant manager is great but the general manager is beyond rude. She brings a leave of unprofessionalism where it is not even accepted in a prison. Beware if you have to deal with her. I didn't really understand why around 6 of my friends left the gym to another after their encounters with her. I understand now. I'm glad the trainers are independent contactor so we see them at the new gym we joined. It's a shame one bad person can make so many people leave a gym
May 13 · george pielI recently moved to Middletown and joined The Edge. I previously trained at Big Sky, where I regularly worked with trainers, in addition to following structured programs from certified fitness professionals on platforms like Beachbody. I’ve developed a consistent and effective fitness routine over the years, but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to try the complimentary personal training session offered to new members. While my trainer, Tim, was kind and easy to talk to, my interaction with the manager, Harris, was extremely uncomfortable. He came across as dismissive and condescending from the start. When I explained my background and current workout approach, he seemed more interested in discrediting my experience than offering support or guidance. He used industry jargon in a way that felt intentionally confusing, only to then mock my lack of familiarity with certain terms. He questioned whether I could handle coming to the gym 5–6 days a week—even though I’ve been doing exactly that for years and made unnecessary assumptions about my lifestyle, like suggesting fasting would be too difficult for me, despite the fact that I have fasted many times in support of my Muslim partner.Rather than using this conversation to highlight the benefits of The Edge’s training program, he spent over 25 minutes invalidating everything I shared, only to end with, “Well, I’m not going to waste your time,” which only reinforced how little regard he had for me as a potential client. The entire experience was disheartening. As a woman, it takes a lot of time to feel confident and respected in gym environments, and this session made me feel the opposite and hesitant to even come back. From my experience as a PR professional, that is not how you sell something to someone.Harris’s approach was not only unprofessional but it was counterproductive. Harris relied on condescension and intimidation tactics that are not only ineffective but also inappropriate for someone in a managerial role. If the goal was to welcome a new member and potentially sell a service, it fell completely flat. The Edge should re-evaluates how leadership interacts with clients and should consider training staff, especially those in leadership, in communication, empathy, and respect. No one should leave a gym session feeling belittled or unwelcome.I certainly don’t want to join the personal training program now but I might’ve been open to that if I had a different experience.
